So this is pretty much the current entry level Intel-chip ThinkPad, and there have been cheaper deals in the past for similar spec Lenovos (e.g. the AMD Ryzen E495 here). What I like about it is that it's on the website as 40% off to get to this price, and all of the upgrades to i7 CPU, extra memory, windows pro etc all get the 40% off applied to them as well. Speccing from i5 -> i7, 8 -> 16GB, Win 10 -> Pro takes this to a much more powerful business laptop for $1400.

  if you can wait, I'd be waiting for the next gen Ryzen mobile chips.

  Pity you can't up these to 32gb like you can with the other e series laptops =/

    That'll be a pretty long time most likely, and all it will mean is the current gen will be reduced to clear them out, not the new ones.

      They'll probably be out within next ~six months, if looking at the previous refresh as example (which took ~4 months).

      The just announced Ryzen Mobiles 4000 series are very exciting, and definitely worthwhile to anticipate.

  Screen is really terrible avoid.
  Lucky mine was DOA (keyboard backlit not working).
