Any good deals on joy cons?

    • I managed to get jbhifi to match $94 on the Dick Smith website for a blue and yellow neon joycon set. Not really a deal in OzB terms though.

      • I haven't seen any in stock at JBhifi for weeks now.

        • Mine was at Jbhifi at Melbourne Central. Seems to be lots of stock at multiple stores, although there was fewer available when I picked up mine.

          • @Cheapotle: Doncaster didn't have any the last couple of times i dropped by.

Neither did a few Target stores I went to.

            • @jv: Check availability before you go in on the product webpage: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/nintendo-switch-joy-con-c…

Looks available to me at Doncaster in blue and yellow, didn't try other colours.

              • @Cheapotle: Thanks…

                They're $104 on Amazon…

Now to decide… extra Joy cons or Pro Controller….

                • +1

@jv: Yeah… I took the plunge for the joy cons for portability, and to play 4 player with some friends, without spending 2x för the pro controller. And hoping not to get any "drift" in my joy cons. 🤞

Good luck with your decision! 😃

  • 8bitdo SN30 Pro Plus is superior unless you must have the asymmetrical sticks.

Personally I prefer First Party Controllers over Third Party.

But if I had to pick a Third Party, 8bitdo would be my first option.

      • I do too but it's that good.

Edit. Because the d-pad on the official Pro is awful.

        • I own the 8Bitdo SF30 Pro, and it my go-to when I'm playing NES/SNES Classics on the Nintendo Switch.

Edit: 8bitdo also had similar issues on the D-Pad with earlier models of their controllers.

          • @RichardL: Been hanging for a good deal on one of those for ages…

            • @diamondd: Unfortunately the SF30 Pro were replaced by the SN30 Pro (I'm assuming due to infringing on Nintendo's trademarks).

You'll still be able to find the SF30 Pro online, but they cost almost the same as a Pro Plus.

          • @RichardL: Hmm. Didn’t even realise you could connect 8bitdo to the Switch. I should check out my old model n30 pro.

I never had a problem with the D-pad for some reason. I managed to beat Hollow Knight 106% using the D-pad on the pro controller and never had any issues with it. Maybe I'm just used to it.

    • 8bitdo SN30 Pro Plus is superior unless you must have the asymmetrical sticks.

I actually prefer the Pro controller, so I guess it's a matter of taste. Overall, I think the sticks feel better on the Pro controller. D-pad is definitely better on the 8bitdo, but I'll use an SN30/SF30 if I'm playing predominantly with the D-pad. The Pro controller also feels a bit more chunky and durable, but that might be subjective.

    • It’s currently on sale right now too, $53.
      I guess that’s a good price

      • Was that at Amazon or somewhere else?

          At Catch dot com
          thats the sn30 pro plus

          • @froddoog: Thanks.

  • FYI. The Nintendo $10 credit requires prime membership. I had to resubscribe to get it.

    • I couldnt see anywhere on the store page saying that this is applicable for the $10 Credit. Can you confirm if this is still eligible?

      • If the $10 deal is still running then yes the pro controller is eligible.

      • Yes it is eligible. But I had to renew my prime membership.

  • Does this work with Mario Party?

    • Mario Party requires joycons. Can't say if this will/won't work with Mario Party (MP), but the types of games MP has has you throwing your hands around and swinging, plus fast movements. The game only requires one hand use, so this controller (even if it did connect) might a bit cumbersome for MP when compared to a single joycon.

I wish they would bring out a white one (I've got the black). I had white and black controllers for the Wii U and it was nice.

  • Anyone tried to price match at JB?

    • They're usually pretty good at price matching.

      • They won't price match the $10 promo…

        • Yeah they won't. Only the $79 price.

Good for people with cheap gc.
