AMD Ryzen 9 3900X $599.40 (20% off) and Free Shipping @ FTC Computers eBay

330
PREPARE

Looks like previous now expired deal but new code PREPARE gives 10% off. Note this is not a dupe since the last deal expired. Also I think this code can be used on other products for 10% off. It is also significantly cheaper than anyone else out there.

I got this in last deal but people were saying they missed it so now there is another chance. Also note that they say "Further 10% off with PREPARE.total 20% off" so not sure if this can be stacked with something else?

Hope someone finds this deal useful.

Good deal, though not technically 20% off.

    • -1

I mean, technically it is. It's 10% off the listing price pre-applied, then an extra 10% off for coupon code.

How you interpret that is up to you, though.

Compared to average retail price between a few retailers, it's more than 20% off.

      • +3

10% off original price plus 10% off discounted price equals 19% off original price

      • +5

        discounts don't add, they multiply.

        10% off $100 = $90
        10% off $90 = $81

        Total 19% off.

Otherwise, 50% off an already 50% off item would = 100% off = free item. In reality, it would be 75% off.

        • Fair point. Doesn't take away from the incredible bargain this is, though.

        • BradH13 wrote "technically", not "mathematically". Mathematically he is wrong but technically he could mean anything because he wrote the disclaimer "How you interpret that is up to you, though."

          • @alvian: Mathematics is the one universal language that is not open to interpretation. It is either true or it is not.

There's a reason why mathematics is the one and only language we use to communicate with aliens, either by listening or transmitting. There is no other language of ours they can understand, and no language of theirs that we can understand.

Something involving numbers cannot be technically true but mathematically incorrect.

There is no way to interpret 19 as 20. No way.

            • @lostn: Technically: with reference to the technique displayed

The technique displayed was the deceptive advertising of 10% off list price + 10% off coupon as 20% off.

Interpretation can be right or wrong and he left it up to the reader to decide. He could mean anything by that.

Mathematics is the one universal language that is not open to interpretation. It is either true or it is not.

This is not true and Kurt Gödel has proven it so mathematically with his incompleteness theorems.

              • @alvian: Using an incorrect technique does not make it true.

You either get the equation correct, or you get it wrong.

The seller failed at maths, which is not uncommon. But it's not wrong to point out the error either.

Otherwise, like I said. You could say "Currently 50% off, get a further 50% off with code 50OFF. Total 100% off."

Everyone knows there is no way to interpret this as 100% off. No kind of mental gymnastics can make that true.

Percentages don't add, otherwise if they made it so the listing price is 70% off and the code takes a further 50% off, you'd have 120% off, or in other words, take the item for free, and we'll even pay you an extra 20% of its value just to get rid of it.

You can't make 1+1 = 4. No technique or interpretation can change the answer.

Anyway, this is getting pointless. Let's just leave it at that.

                • @lostn: I don't understand what you are trying to tell me. I already wrote that BradH13 was mathematically wrong, so why do you keep referring back to mathematics?

I wrote BradH13 had cleverly used the disclaimer to let the reader "interpret" his comment. The reader can make an incorrect interpretation and you helpfully pointed out the inconsistency between that and mathematics. I am trying to tell you that interpretation is not mathematics, and personal interpretation is by definition valid for the person who made it but not for anyone else. In this way BradH13 has left himself enough room to wiggle out of his claim of 10% discount + 10% coupon = 20% off, by blaming it on the person who made the (mathematically wrong) interpretation.

No technique or interpretation can change the answer.

This is where you are mistaken. Simply look at the example of anthropogenic global warming which is a scientifically and mathematically proven fact. Now read the Murdoch press and see how an answer can be changed by incorrect interpretation and the techniques of repetition and misdirection.

Here is another example. "Mathematics is the one universal language that is not open to interpretation. It is either true or it is not." This statement is your opinion on the universality, completeness, and consistency of mathematics. You believed/interpreted it to be true but in fact it is mathematically false. Here is a list of statements which are undecidable in ZFC set theory. These statements are neither true nor false in ZFC. You can start adding axioms to ZFC to make them true/false but the process will never end as there will be more and different undecidable statements in the new theory.

Here is a well-known example from mathematics that depends on whether you accept or reject the axiom of choice. It is akin to proving 1=2. Given a solid ball in 3‑dimensional space, there exists a decomposition of the ball into a finite number of disjoint subsets, which can then be put back together in a different way (by rotating and moving, but without stretching the subsets) to yield two identical copies of the original ball.

Bonus spoof: a "proof" of 1+1=3 to confuse the novice students in algebra.

Geez, i hate how FTC have such good deals.. could they really be so bad?

    • serious regrets about not building my PC on BFCM or Boxing Day sales….

    • +7

I'd rather pay extra than ever deal with ftc_computers again

      • Can you tell us what's wrong with FTC?

I notice the ebay rating for FTC is pretty bad for eBay standard

        • +17
          • They sell goods not in stock and don't deliver until weeks later

          • They lie about having actually shipped those items that aren't in stock

          • They cheap out on packaging, boxes get damaged, occasionally components

          • They cheap out on couriers that leave items around to be stolen

          • In the past they've been caught reselling used cryptomining GPUs as new

          • They've been caught sockpuppeting here on OzBargain

          • And if you have an RMA issue good luck dealing with them

          edit:
Most importantly: If you buy from them you're financing and empowering them to push ethical businesses out of the market and treat even more customers this way

@PullString: I saw computer alliance for 737. So it is more than $100 worth of difference.

But from the post from PullString I will avoid FTC.

          • @PullString: Hmmm seems like something you can say about many ebay stores unfortunately. That's terrible though.

How much extra we are talking about?

Any people from the previous deal got the CPU dispatched?

    • +1

I'm still waiting. Tried calling and messaging either but no one responds.

      • Some people from previous threads had better luck trying on ebay and messaging them through that.

        • That's what I've tried last week.

    • +1

Mine was shipped earlier today, along with a motherboard i purchased.

      • Did they put the same tracking number in your purchase order details page or did they post them separately?

        • Posted separately.

    • They just sent me a refund with no explanation

      • Same here, got refunded this morning without any reply

  • How does the warranty work with these CPUs? I can't imagine having to send anything back to ftc_computers would work well.

    • +2

PayPal 6 months is your friend, but I can't say I've heard of many CPU's that just die randomly… Usually it's user error.

    • +2

Bought a 3700x from FTC before Christmas that wouldn’t boot to windows, worked ok if underclocked by 200mhz but at defaults it would crash out either during boot or with a few seconds. Did the return via AMD rather than FTC. Replacement worked fine.

      https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/warranty-information/pib

      • Who pay for the shipping?

        • Well slightly different as I did it in the UK, I’d got the cpu as a gift for a relative. I had no shipping costs, but might be different here.

  • 3800x $639, 3900x $666 too good to be true ;)

  • So back to $777 - would love to know how they got their price so cheap!

    • Because they can't actually fulfil their orders. Just received a refund with no explanation

  • Purchased from FTC

Arrived two days later a different state away via courier, no dramas at all

    Very happy

    • What sort of tracking information did they put in your eBay purchase history?

      • It was startrack express that they used

        • +1

You're lucky, I am still stuck with "drop off" with sendle.

    • +1

Mine is still pending to be picked up by courier. It has been 7 days since I paid.

  • +1

I wouldn't recommend purchasing from these guys, my graphics card is still pending drop off and it's been over a week since I payed. They also recently changed their ABN, their ebay account is also under investigation at the moment. They also have been known to sell used graphics cards as new when they've been used to mine bitcoin. TLDR DON'T BUY FROM FTC

  • +2

I purchased this deal from them and it arrived in a huge box with no packaging inside. I'm also still chasing them for an invoice.
Hopefully it works ok as I haven't opened it yet.
Their communication is very poor. I won't be bothering with them in the future.

    • +1

You are lucky to get the item anyways. My 3900X is refunded after I sent a "want the item" message to them. They refunded straight away without replying anything to me. It has been stuck at "drop off" state for 10 days

      • +1

I am in the same boat. They've basically held up my money for close to a month. Feels disappointing.

  • I got sick of waiting and ended up buying a 3600 for $253 after cashback (12% shopback cashback today only). https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/515958
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/515576

  • Who got their 3900x?

  • Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone who has had their order cancelled has received a refund? I was notified that a refund was in progress via eCheuque. This immediately made be suspicious as it should have a straight forward refund from their paypal balance.

A refund for the following transaction from HHJC Trading Pty Ltd wasn't processed successfully.
If you've been expecting this refund, please contact HHJC Trading Pty Ltd to issue the refund again.

    • I happen to have made the purchase via VISA and am now lodging a claim for goods not provided. I suggest others may want to look into similar options available to you.

    • I bought a 3900X and a 2070 Super. Both eCheque refunds just bounced. Lol. Filed eBay case for both, eBay might have to take the hit against their Money Back Guarantee policy; which is terrible considering how many cases there will be against these thieves.

      • Those contacting the shop directly seem to actually be getting either real refunds or products, got my 2070 Super this morning after they posted it yesterday. Contacted the shop directly late on Tuesday. Had 0 response from eBay messages but responded in minutes to direct contact.

        • What do you mean by direct contact? I haven't managed to get through via phone and direct emails just go unanswered. I've definitely tried. Haha.

          • @BradH13: Email to the stores address that was on the invoice and also the info address advertised on their website both worked for me. I'm certainly not alone in having success if you read through all the threads.

Email response has been sub 30 minutes each time.

            • @Pobman: I sent another email to info an hour ago and nothing yet. Annoying.

              • @BradH13: :( try from a different email address perhaps. It's all very strange, thankful it's all over.

      • Bought something on Ebay (3900x), they listed it as 'sent' but they never dropped it off at the courier (Sendle). I contacted them multiple times and got no reply. At day 28 (Ebay 30 day money back garuntee) I had to go through with the refund. Would never want to deal with them. Ever.

Edit: They should pay interest on the free loan of $600 for a month.

        • I think you'll find they still have your money somewhere. eBay are refunding people directly as FTC's bank account is dry and refunds from then are declining.
