What is the difference between refurbished and new ?

    • The term 'refurbished phone' generally refers to a pre-owned handset that has been has been repaired for re-sale. Before being put on sale, all refurbished phones have been thoroughly checked and tested to ensure they're in full working order.

      • So what do you “repaired” before you re-sale it, since you mention battery hasn’t been replaced? Don’t tell me you “repaired” the screen protector.

This is one of the worst phones that apple have come out with, camera is very below par.

    • +1

Nonsense camera is the same as xs and xs max, but single

      • The photos are nowhere near the quality of the xs and xs max, my daughter bought a XR and pretty quickly sold it on due to the poor quality so speaking from experience not just making a random comment.

  • Has the battery been replaced?

    • +5

Lol! '''''Refurb'''''' in this case means they wiped the worst of the dirt off and put it in a box, you don't get a new battery.

    • Only if that was the issue that required it to be returned.

    • The battery hasn't been replaced.

  • Is the XR the same shape and dimensions as the iphone 11?

    • Yes.

  • Any note9 deals coming soon?

    • Not currently. But will update for any such deal.

    • I'm interest with note 9 too

  • +9

Stop using the term "Refurb" all you do is wipe it down and apply a screen protector on the phones. Not even a new battery. I got an Iphone from you and it had 87% battery health. These are just used phones

    • +4

87% battery health, that's terrible. I would request a refund.

    • Refurb sounds much better than second hand right? Both are technically correct.

    • Gday mate ,
These are used phones correct but refurbished is the correct term as these are not only data wiped and physically cleaned but also tested for functionality and if something like a charge port or earpiece is faulty, then that is replaced with an OEM part. Thanks

On iphone X series we dont replace batteries unless they are below 80% as we have tested them to last a full day on normal use.
On iphone 6/7/8 and plus models we replace batteries if they are under 85%

      Hope this clarifies

  • hey errorfree :) any deals on the s8 or s9 range? x

    • Not currently but would update.

    • s9 is $399 and s8 is $299
      thanks

      • thank you x

  • I got a Grade A phone and it had a deep scratch on the screen, it was fairly small but it was noticeable.
The return policy was a good touch, needed it.

It is a bargain if it is brand new. Pity it is a refurb, about $300-$350 margin ?

    • It's not even a refurb; it's just your bog-standard used phone.

  • This isn’t refurbished, it’s been previously used and just put into a box.

    • shot! shame!

for this price point there are lot more options

  • I agree with the comments saying the phones need to be advertised as what they are i.e. Second-hand. Factory resetting a device does not equal to "refurbishment".

Refurbished is what Apple sell through their refurbs store, with actual refurbishment like replacing batteries and broken screens and making sure they are at the same QC level expected of them.

    • -1

Thats exactly what were doing. Every handset is tested and it might have a battery/ charge port/ ear piece/ housing or LCD replaced.

  • Whys everyone so salty recently :P

Hmmm..Maybe cos we're sick of misleading businesses??

      • -1

So you reckon if Apple sells a refurbished phone which is technically a used phone its OK. But if a small business sells a refurbished phone which goes via almost(without changing the housing) exactly the same process as Apple does it in-house, its misleading?

        • Apple replaces the battery and the housing you don't. Bald Indian guy who works at your store is rude and disrespectful. I travelled 26km to your store to pick up an Iphone 8 Plus last December and knowing that you sell phones with shitty batteries, I asked the guy to let me check if the battery health is more than 90%. He was furious and told me "We don't have time for that". I said okay let me see a the 3 phones that you got and select one. Guy went to the back to get it and guess what, you didn't even have stock even-though your web site said you have stock for all the colors. He didn't even apologise. Educate him about treating customers.

I ended up buying an perfect 8 Plus from Marketplace for $450 instead of $579 at your place

          • @InternetExplorer: I needed to have a few stern words to get them to refund an S10 5G as well. Had a deep scratch on left edge. Luckily I slogged the drive from the south east to reservoir, I shudder to think about the back and forth that would have ensured if I returned the device by post.

        • +1

They actually carry out refurbishment which includes replacing the housing and battery, and for phones with broken screens returned under Apple Care, screens are replaced as well. And the phones are tested to make sure they are QC passed at the same level as a new device.

What you're doing is basically just factory resetting and physically wiping them with a micro fibre. And if you are replacing any internal parts, how do we know they're genuine and the water resistance of the device is back to factory standards?

        • you really don't get it, do you? this has got nothing to do with big vs small business.

your process of so-called "refurbishment" is nothing remotely similar to how Apple refurbishes its phones.
