Bought in Dec 2019. Couldn't be happier

    • +1

Yep! Bought Aug 2018 and still very happy with ours. Many, many times better than the $3000+ mattress it replaced.

      • +1

I'm banking on this comment which I've seen here a few times now… Ordered this morning. The last P.O.S we got was priced like that on 'sale' at Badshed from from closer to $5. Worst mattress we've ever had.

        Thanks OP.

        • +2

I've gotta say though, the first few days using the ZZZ Atelier mattress we both had sore backs and thought we'd made a huge mistake however we pushed through and have never had a problem since so I'd say it was just a transition period of sorts. We were also both pushing ourselves a little harder than normal with a house renovation at the time so that may have been responsible but we're no 100% sure.

          • +1

@SteveAndBelle: It takes time to get used to a new mattress. My experience with ZZZ Atelier's was very positive though. No more sore back after I bought this one

          • @SteveAndBelle: I think this relates to it still rising for first few day/weeks. Instructions do say to let it rise for 24 hours before use.

Slept on mine the first night was hurting in the morning. Went away from home for 2 weeks, came back and it was perfect.

            • +1

@[Deactivated]: Yeah, I left it for a solid 36 hours before sleeping on it but you might be right, maybe the suggested '24 hours' is the bare minimum. Maybe leaving it for a week or more is recommended. Either way it's still an excellent mattress and wipes the floor with the few very expensive mattresses we had before it.

          • +1

@SteveAndBelle: I had same trouble but I slept on it the first night it came. I think you're meant to let them expand for a few days. After about 3 days it's been unreal and everyone who's been on it has commented on how comfy it is.

            • +4

              @mooseca:

everyone who's been on it has commented on how comfy it is.

Someone’s been swiping right too much… lol

    • It’s not even a month, pal.

  • FWIW I got one of these for my kid and it's a great quality and comfortable mattress.

  • +4

$69 postage to Metro WA - likely similar for other excluded postcodes.

    • $42.70 Eyre Peninsula, SA it seems

    • And that's per mattress. I got two so paid $138 postage :(

    • +1

Great price considering the cubage involved with transport.

    • +2

I don't understand the surprise at shipping costs from WA residents. Over 3,500km for a bulky item like this to the most isolated city in the world. $69 isn't that bad.

      • Yeah of course - i'm not surprised, just letting peeps know.

        • +1

Yeah, my apologies. I appreciate that. This was more at others always complaining about postage costs to WA :)

  • Havent tried the Black label, but bought the Extra Firm in a king that i still find a bit soft. Any other suggestions for a Firm mattress?

    • What's your budget? Bed in a box type mattresses probably are all about the same firmness.

      • +3

All my previous mattresses have been around the $1K mark. Bought this only because of the praises of the OZB community. It's not bad but not as firm as they claim it is.

    • Interesting. We just bought the same one and whilst my wife and I both like a firm mattress, we both found it overly firm.

Any harder and I think you may as well just lie on the floor!

      • +1

It's strange as that was my worry after reading all reviews.. But it is actually more like a medium firm than an extra firm as advertised.

    • +3

$15.05, the calculator is in the "Postage and Payments" section of the listing.

  • +28

Don't forget to get their patented mattress topper, the ZZ Top.

    • +5

I had to google this, I actually thought they had a mattress topper I didn't know about.

  • How do these compare to the aldi mattresses? They are too soft.

Previous comments on ozbargain have been about the bed sagging after use - presume this is still a problem?

    • If you have a bed frame/base, I don't see this mattress gets saggy anytime soon. Been using their King Black Label for nearly a year, no issue, no sign of wearing out…etc. Just good sleeps

    • +1

Mine had started sagging on my side bad enough to cause me discomfort after only 6 months. I'm about 90kg. Girlfriends side is fine, 55kg, but over gone from being happy with the mattress to a little disappointed.

Have a bedframe that meets the recommendations for slat distance etc…

      • +2

Did you rotate the mattress every couple of months?

        • Nope. Rotated it yesterday

          • @Salmando: +1 to puffs comment. You need to rotate every couple months. Did your girlfriend notice the sag now that it’s on her side? To the extent the memory foam portion was over compressed, it might gain some loft now with the lighter load and or if you give it a couple days rest (assuming you have a spare mattress to use in the interim).

            • @ccrap: I have a spare one of this mattress, might just swap it for a while and hope for the best. I'll see how well it works.

Regardless, I expected longer lasting firmness

    • +3

I’ve had mine almost a year on a good frame and it’s sagging a bit and giving me a daily sore back. I wish it was a firmer mattress.

      • If anything, I found this mattress is quite firm. Idk.

  • How does this compare to Giselle Bedding?

  • Damn it. Just bought my 3rd mattress from ZZZ Atelier last week since my brother couldn't wait haha. Settled with the 10% PREPARE code

    • +1

Mate. I'm humming and harghing as I discuss things. Do you know how long these sales last? Couldn't find the 'end of sale' period on there website. Definitely need a firmer mattress, as ours is starting to sag alittle.

Also on a side note: If you got a slat bed, and your using an inner spring mattress. Do yourself a favour, go down to bunnings (or whatever you think is cheaper) and buy yourself some plywood to cover the base of your bed. We drilled holes through it and zipped tied it to a few slats to keep it still (cos we don't know much about woodworking/tools). You know that nice 'ahh yaeh' feeling you get after flipping the mattress (or spinning it 180 so you can swap with the lighter partner) feeling that lasts maybe a week? Lasts a hell of alot longer. Guess the inner springs need a firm base to compress up against? Don't get mdf, it sags.

Anywho, anyone can answer the 'end of sale question', much appreciated.

      • +2

says it ends 7/2 in huge writing under the listing when you click through m8

        • Cheers. The writing is normal font under the huge writing that is the listing. But your point is valid. It was right there in my face. takes blinkers off

          Thanks again.

    "bed shagging after use"
    Fixed it for you mate…

  • +11

I've recommended this mattress a couple times, but I think I'm retracting my recommendation.

The mattress has sunk in my side of the bed to the point it now causes bad back pain. Took about 6 months. I weigh 88kg.
Girlfriends side is fine, she's 55kg. Though she sleeps more in the middle/my side so it's possible a partially combined weight is to blame.

I've rotated the mattress, I'll see how that fairs. I'm thinking I should have purchased the firmer mattress though

    • +2

Mine is still fine after 12 months, why don't you contact the seller for warranty?

      • Honestly never even crossed my mind about these things having warranty. I'll look into it.

        • +30

I wouldn't bother, the cheaper alternative is to just get rid of the girlfriend.

    • +5

I had similar for 3 years and started getting a sore back. I replaced it thinking it was the mattress. I could see it had a spot where I lay that was lower. The warranty terms was replacement only if it has sunk 50mm or something crazy.

Anyways, it didn't fix my back discomfort.

Running, stretching etc works a treat for me. Chalked it up to getting old.

    • +21

Did you lose 2kg between comments? Ha.

      • Eagle eyes mate

      • +7

        Big poo

      • 87 right now…

    • +2

Yup one in the spare room that I sleep over on occasionally.

Was fine for first 12 months and probably only in use 2-3 days a week (friends of family and myself using).

Started sinking in the middle, I would almost rather sleep on my hiking mattress now.

      Would not recommend at all.

    • +3

I have to agree with this. We have had ours since April 2019. Despite rotating it, my side has sunk significantly and we both have sore backs.
We have the medium firm and it really is way too soft and has sunk way too much. We have the king so there is space between us and I found myself last night moving into that space which felt like the mattress did initially - ie comfortable

      Anyone had any warranty experience?

      • Good to see people are realising it's not 'amazing' at all

    • Had mine maybe a year and a half and is also sagging more than I would like or expect.

I am not sure if it is a factor or not but I should add that my bed frame is crap and the slats do not meet the manufacturer recommended minimum dimensions (only just though).

      • I purchased my bed frame specifically for this mattress, I'm not convinced the requirements are anything more than warranty avoidance.

    • FTW, you get what you pay for

  • Of course this deal pops up right after I bought it last night with 10% code. This is a deal breaker for me

    • Same happed with me lol

      • Same lol

  • +8

obligatory this is the worst mattress i've ever had comment
    - obligatory reminder that disposing of a shit mattress is annoying and expensive

    • Ooh I was just wondering what to do with our existing mattress. Decided it’s easiest to just stick with the current mattress.

    • +2

Free for some council areas, do free council pickup of old matresses.

      • some maybe, not most

    • +1

I have had no issues getting rid of mattresses through Gumtree. Put them up for free and people will be knocking your door down. Last time I slapped a $50 price tag on it just to see how it went, and it was gone within a few hours.

      • Yep, same here! Took less than an hour for someone to claim our old mattress for a token amount of $50 when I listed it on Gumtree and it was collected same day within a few hours. We always use a mattress protector so it was absolutely spotless plus I had the original plastic bag for it too which may have sweetened the deal a bit.

    • -3

disposing of a shit mattress is annoying and expensive

Just burn it in the back yard ;)

    • Obligatory agree 100%

  • +4

have had this mattress for a few months,

have found it ok but the sides don't have much support and you can't sit on the edges

    • +1

Zero support you mean. To roll in the box you cant have a frame. Same for Ikea mattresses. They are excellent for kids however.

      • -6

yes but you dont sit on the edge of a mattress right or am i just crazy

ive done it once for a few minutes but otherwise ill sit somewhere else. its not good for the mattress or for the back

down vote as much as you want, a mattress is not for sitting on like a chair

        • +1

When you are going to bed and take your socks off it does happen, same when you get up in the morning you seat before standing. The lack of support is annoying more for belly or side sleepers, you feel like you roll out of the bed. Back sleepers are alright. All box mattresses are like that I suppose. PS I did not downvote, finished my share already today ;-)

  • +2

Great mattress for the price. I've had mine for about a year would definitely recommend

  • +1

    Can you return mattress?

    • +1

I am sure they accept return if you pay for shipping, that it would cost more than the mattress

    • You can return a Sleeping Duck mattress after 90? days.

  • Wow was looking at this just yesterday haha

  • +1

I'm a side sleeper, my missus is a back sleeper who likes a firmer mattress.
Given i get slight shoulder impingement from time to time, would going the firm destroy me ?

    • see if they can do a half half

or buy both and put half of each together, or line two smalls up against each other :)

    • +1

Our previous mattress (of a different brand) was very firm and it made my shoulder impingement much worse. We got the ZZZ black label one 6 months or so ago and my shoulder has been a lot better.

  • +1

Been using the queen mattress for a while, it's worth every penny!

  • +1

i see this deal pop up a lot and every who say it is amazing has only had it for 3-6 months. Any feedback from 12+ months users? thanks

    • +1

@steveandbelle above has been using it since august 2018, thats more than 12 months in my calendar

    • +9

6 months user here. It sags after 2-3 months. Do not use this if you have an existing back problem like me.

    • +1

I've had it for over 12 months now and no complaints. With my previous mattress, I used to wake up with a sore back every day now have none.

    • +1

Bought mine 9 October 2018. I weigh 75-80kg and haven't experienced any change. It's just me sleeping in it every night, but if one of my mate's ends up sleeping in it they have all said how comfortable it is.

    • Bought my first Zzz Atelier mattress in May 2019. It's a King Black Label. Used to have random sore back days with my previous mattress. After switching, I didn't experience any pain since then. The mattress feels very firm and solid to the point that I started to wonder if the negative comments people own the same mattress(?) I sleep on this mattress every night and found this an extremely good value purchase, so I have replaced all the mattress in the house with Black Label recently (Bought one Queen and one King Single)

  • A question about the 34cm sides, do peoples fitted sheets still fit on them? I just bought a 24cm mattress from another ebay retailer (quite good and cheap actually, very happy with it so far, might give it a post actually), and it seems really thick

    • +1

Yep, no probs with sheets however our ZZZ replaced a similar thickness mattress so we already knew they'd be fine. They're Sheridan sheets but aren't anything special, just the regular fitted sheet sets you get on sale from the Sheridan outlet shop. Pretty sure we've also had pretty standard sheet sets from Spotlight in the past and have recently tried an IKEA Linen set which also seems to fit without any dramas. We also got a standard cotton set from IKEA which fit OK but seemed to pull up at the sides after a few days use however that may have just been me not making the bed properly too ;)

      • How do you like the IKEA linen?

I'm looking for some because I heard that that help ventilate and keep you cool in warm weather.

        How's the texture and quality?

        Thanks :)

        • +1

Yeah, pretty good but as expected still a bit 'scratchy' as it's still very new and has only had one wash so I'm sure it'll soften a bit more over time… but obviously Linen will never feel as soft/smooth as regular cotton.

  • -1

is there a a big differece to these mattresses and the ones at myer which are like $>1000

    • +3

      Differences of 700+ dollars
