        • Never meant to make your daughter cry

    • I have used the previous gen ZZZ mattress for over a year now and find it very comfy to sleep on (side and back sleeper). Was considering buying a myer mattress recently as an upgrade and tested quite a few in stores multiple times. The Myer stuff (Heritage was my favourite) definitely feels more premium in the build and finish (extra padding around the sides and smoother fabrics etc) but it's hard to justify the huge price difference. I can appreciate the improved finish of the mattress and possible longevity over the ZZZ but once the covers are on, the difference isn't as noticeable. Besides I'd rather replace my cheaper (but very comfy) mattress every few years for hygiene's sake than keep a great premium one for 10+yrs.

  • +1

Is this better than the koala mattress?

    • Would like to know as well

    • +2

Have had both - and the zzz is a completely different product to a koala mattress (koala is all foam - this one is inner spring).

The zzz is certainly more impressive out of the box, but we had problems with sagging after a month or so. We persevered for three months through back pain, sleepless nights etc (we even bought a memory foam topper) but ended up throwing it out and opting for the koala.

Having said that, we don't find the koala a wonder mattress either. It's firmer and has less partner disturbance, but doesn't contour to your body as well as an innerspring.

As always, you get what you pay for.

      • so between the 2, you will go for the koala?

        • +1

Yep. If you don't like it you can return a koala and these ones come on sale all the time.

          • @podding85: good point. thanks!

p.s. I also just checked Koala's website. I didnt know prices have gone up! A king size mattress is now $1250'ish.

  • We are very happy with our mattress from them. I would and I am actively recommending them :).

  • It it hot sleeping on latex foam?

    • These are all pocket spring, there is just a layer of latex (among other things) at the top do you don't feel like you have springs poking into you. The airflow a
characteristics of this mattress are more like any other inner spring mattress

      • Thanks. I wonder why sagging is an issue if it’s like any other inner spring mattress? Unless the springs don’t hold their shape?

        • OK so I was really just talking about the airflow characteristics, because it's essentially hollow, so cooler to sleep on.

Regarding the edges being soft, the likelihood is that they have more reinforcement in mattresses that don't need to be folded/rolled/vacuum packed, as lots people complain about this with those type of mattresses. According to the manufacturers they are reinforced, but probably just not as well as people are used to.

Your best bet is if you want one that will last buy the firmest you find comfortable, but that goes for any mattress, and it's hard to know when you are buying online.

I'm a heavier lad (>90kg) and have found mine has sagged noticeably over the year or so we've had it. I would buy another for a spare room, but not for everyday use.

  • +7

Boy what a mixed bag these comments are. Generally people rave about these when there's a deal but not quite so this time!

    • Yes I wonder sometimes, whether it’s just the usual iPhone vs android kind of fanbois or if there are some professional agitators/promoters getting involved.

      • Well there seem to be a number of complaints about sagging but the listing says 15 year warranty so i hope people are making them honour that!

  • I still wondering why I didn't buy that before haha. I bought from them a few years ago best mattress ever. So cheap and the quality is quite good.

  • Any recommendations on a headboard (Queen size)? I bought their Atelier bedframe without a headboard but looking to get one now.

  • just bought 2 for my spare bedrooms

  • These are OK. Bought in Jan 2019. Sagging even when rotated. Might be OK for someone lighter.

  • +1

    Queen OOS?

  • Mine only a few months old. The Matress is depressed where I sleep (I'm 75 kgs) and it also gets very hot.

    • My daughter had this issue with her's, she's lucky to be 50 KG's. I contact ZZZ Atelier and sent some photos and they refunded the full purchase price. Pretty impressive customer service really. Having said that they have a new model now so hopefully these issues are past, but regardless they do support their product.

  • +2

Highly recommend this mattress. Have a king for the main and a queen for the spare room. Guests regularly comment how well they sleep. The king is still going strong and we bought it in Sept 2018. Im a heavier guy and it is still holding up well.

      What about the mattress?

  • Such a mixed bag of comments here. If they had a 30-day "free trial" like Koala i would bite the bullet but I really do not want to end up with a mattress that sags within a year or two. I am around 100kg.

    • Pretty much everything regarding the Koala states "Trial risk free for 120 nights & receive a refund if you are not satisfied."….

      • Yeah sorry I meant 120. Same thing though. Gives you a risk-free opportunity to try, whereas if you don’t like this you’re stuck with it

        • +1

A bit slow to respond but sorry mate, i did mis-read your comment as implying that Koala didn't have any sort of trial period rather than what you actually said/meant being that these guys don't. Should have turned the brain on!

  • Thanks! Ordered for the spare room.

  • Guys - how does this compare to something like a Sleeping Duck or Koala mattress?

  • Looks like lots of sagging comments about the black label mattress, anyone experience anything negative with the super firm version of the mattress?

    • Good question. The black label is rated 6.5 firm, the extra firm 9.0… pretty big disparity.

  • +2

I have been sleeping on older model queen mattress since November 2018. No sagging issue or back pain. It appears that the users with the newer model mattress making the most of the complaints here.

    • +1

Yeah I have been sleeping on mine for around same time and haven't noticed any sagging or back pain.

  • I bought the extra firm one. It was very firm. Had to give it away - like sleeping on the floor 🙂

    • I feel ya. I don't why many people here looking for extra firm mattress… Are they doing something special on it?
This black label mattress feels really firm and solid.

      • I have a bad back, and my chiropractic said I need a firm mattress.

        • +1

I used to have back pains. So I went to gym and worked on my core and lower back. It helped
          (Also this mattress :P )

  • I just bought a king single one for our teenage daughter. Fingers crossed.

Worst mattress I've ever tried. Absolutely no support, you constantly roll around on it. I bought a new mattress within three months. However if you don't believe me and want to try it out for yourself, you can pick up my 3 months usage queen mattress from Sydney inner west for $50. Currently in storage until I'm not lazy enough to shift it on Gumtree. ':)

  • I ended up going with marce De blanc mattress had bought one before. Only slight sinking after year of use didn't put me off too much. Also has better reviews on product review

    • Hey 28kb so think we're gonna with yr recommendation…how much and do they have sales (K size)? Is it also like bed in a box? Heavy? TIA.

    • I have the De Blanc mattress also. Had it for over a year now and really like it. I wouldn't say it has developed a sink hole, but it developed a nice groove from where I sleep.
I also rotate the mattress every two months.

  • Are we likely to see more stock before sale is over?

  • All sizes back in stock now

  • +1

Just want to echo the bad comments here. Had it for 2 years and it has sagged and its extremely hot if you’re not the toss and turner.

  • All the people saying this is a shit mattress, what did you replace it with?

  • +1

    Our experience:

Mattress we received it collapsing on edges and lopsided, we've had to purchase another one from another brand.

Seller and eBay refuse to acknowledge fault or responsibility and instead keep asking for a plethora of pictures that cannot show the defects to start with.

We are now escalating through PayPal before contacting NCAT if not resolved.

    • Unlucky.

  • Sorry to be that guy, anyone else finds the code doesnt work? Its supposed to end on 7th Feb

    • solved: something to do with account registration must be set to AU

  • Bought the old model in King Single for my daughter in February 2019, she loves it. No issues with quality at this point.

  • how does this compare to the slightly cheaper giselle bedding from OzPlaza? same same?

    • Haven't bought Giselle bedding line, but I own 3 of Zzz Atelier Black Label. Highly recommend

  • Anyone can provide any advice between this and the ecosa mattress?

  • Hey guys,

I am thinking of buying this mattress.

Any reviews/experience with the "Super Firm Mattress w/ Extra Firm Pocket Spring" ?

    • Why do you wanna sleep on the floor :O

  • Can the mattress be transport in a hatchback easily when still packaged? Moving into a new place in a few months and might prepurchase a bed

    • +1

Yes. I just did what you're thinking and I got it into a sedan.

  • Can the mattress be transported in a hatchback easily when still unopened? Moving into a new place in a few months and might prepurchase a bed

  • It's a long shot but can anyone tell how the firmness of the black label compares to the Madison Grovernor?https://www.snooze.com.au/products/madison-grosvenor-mattress?variant=28383394660439

The Madison is the exact firmness we like but when buying online how can we make sure we get the firmness we like.
It's the only thing keeping us from pulling the trigger

  • out of stock at the moment, will there be anymore restocks?

    • Following. I'm after the single bed to purchase

    • +1

Yep, they will restock. Message them if you want

  • +1

Thanks Op. It is a relatively quick delivery. I received them today, (Melbourne metro).

    • Share with us how do you feel about your new mattress :)

  • Chucked my 15 year old mattress out with last household clean up 6 months ago…….and not yet replaced. Nothing like a good ole air mattress. Mmmmmmm wonder if these are any comfier. At least if Air mattress sags, one can top it up with some air :-) Seriously though, delay in buying is due to not having a clue what to get…….spent $1k+ or just get a cheapie like these. Very tempting but I like a firmish mattress though and this only give 6.5 out of 10 firmness rating. A hard call indeed. Now where did I put my air pump!

  • I bought firm one 4 months ago and don't regret buying the bed.

  • Do they sell bases at all?
