  FYI Perthians, Optus had similar deals last year where the entire WA was classified “Regional”. Perhaps it still apply with these new deals.
  Edit: just checked, PERTH metros no longer considered “regional”.

  DOES NOT WORK. I went into 2 optus stores and because i do not require a new phone i cant get the deal. They said that to be eligible for a 20% discount you need to get a new handset as well.

    I was going to say you're wrong, as I just swapped my ended contracts for monthly ones successfully with the discount.

    However, the Optus website does indeed say you need a new handset. Maybe it's been changed in the last couple of weeks?

    The OP is still wrong though "you can still get 20% off, even if you don't add a phone with the plan" - you can't - I just tried it.
