  • What is this thing called a wall mounted telephone? :)

  • Hahaha… I reckon there would be people reading this deal wondering what the hell that thing is in the picture :).

  • Not sure who would install this in a new installation…

I need one for my New Fax Machine :)

      • +3

Did you get a second line so you can send a fax while on a call or did you get faxstream duet from telecom?

Geez I know that there’s plenty of retro items making a comeback like the mini consoles but can’t imagine wall mounted telephones will be the next returning craze.

    • They already did a few years back. I still have one that was refurbished to work on VOIP.

But that fad has all but died now.

Does it come in bakelite too?
I also need to buy a new belt clip for my phone, can I buy that here?

Spam. This is no longer relevant to Australia. Full stop.

    • +2

Even if it is needed on rare occasions, you'd just buy one. Not a "deal"

    how much for 1?

Don't bother go to a telephone box. Just make sure it's not blue or you could end up anywhere.

Let us know when you have cassette players on special too

Check this out… Sold 505 - it means some people do need..

    • Actually, I do need a new cassette player. The tape deck in my old stereo is stuffed.

I don't need this, though. FTTP here. If someone needs one I could see if I could detach the one here from the wall. I could throw in the old DSL splitter or filter or whatever it is.

People still use these. Either this or if you want to be neater use an RJ45 wall plate with key jacks for phone/ethernet sockets. Especially if you're one of the unlucky Australians to have been given a FTTN internet connection.

    • Ordinary people still need these because we Australians are too stupid to be allowed to touch RJ45 wall plates and keystones, thanks to ACMA. You want to punch down 2 telephone cables into a keystone? Hire a registered cabler!

      • Aren't these the sane? By law you still need an official licensed installer as you need to cut and strip the wires and install them correctly to use this type of sockets.

        • Wall plates and keystones must be installed into a cutout in the wall and hence the cable is concealed and cannot be touched by mortal hands. This socket is surface mounted onto the wall and the cable can be installed unconcealed, thus satisfying our stupid wiring rules.

  • Wow….
Just proves Antiques do rise in value

  • I just saw someone using a payphone. Freaked out

Was this in Adelaide, because they have been reducing the number of public toilets..

      • Sunshine Coast. They’re still rolling out 3G, so it kind of makes sense

  • is that to trick someone into think you still have analog phones?

  • Given that NBN modems for FTTC/B/N rely on RJ11 plugs, and old analog phones with that kind of plug will not be usable as they use pulse dialling, this will have literally NO use going forward…

    Hence, no bargain.
