Buy from GG's eBay with POOL3 for $230.86 (plus $5.26 post or free c&c)

  • How does this compare to the Samsung A30 for $249?

Edit - The big difference is Galaxy A30 is Super Amoled 1080p, single sim. The Motorola One Macro is IPS 720p, dual sim.

The aussie variant of the A30 is Single SIM only, while the Moto's are dual sim.

Which one would you get if you didn't need dual sim?

lack of NFC somewhat kills it for me. I would go for a Samsung.

The A20 is a better value proposition for people just wanting a budget phone, and it's also the cheapest phone that you can buy that comes with an AMOLED display.

For people who want longer term updates though, I also recommend looking at the Xiaomi Mi A3 as that's on the Android One program which is guaranteed for at least 2 years of updates. Motorola is quite slow when it comes to OS updates.

The TCL Plex deal from last week is making all these other $200-$400 phone deals look sort of lame. I would have considered this a decent price for this spec before, but now it's kinda meh.

  • Mediatek MT6771 Helio P70

I am not saying Exynos & Kirin are better, but I'd rather avoid any phone with a Mediatek. Their CPU are only for a third world country.

    • That's a bit harsh? What do you normally do with your phone? An Oppo REno Z uses a MediaTek P70 and it works fine, the OS is quiet smooth.

      • The Reno Z uses the MediaTek P90.

        • Ahh yeah.. The SP70 should still be OK for everyday usage.

  • TCL Plex is great :)

  • Pull a trigger for the TCL Plex last time but curious about how this phone compare to the Plex

    • This has slightly bigger battery, but Plex is better for everything else :)
