  • Still got another contract month with Telstra before I can actually do anything. Any expiry date?

I read somewhere on here that if you go to a new plan they don't mind cancelling the old one for free - they know they'll have you for another 24 months anyway.

      May be worth a crack.

      • Look just went to Good Guys and the deal was blocked because we are on Boost. The Telstra rep on the phone said NO…..so if anyone has success getting the deal with a current plan let us know. I think it probably won't fly.

        • Port out onto a cheap prepaid SIM…?

    • 31-Mar

  • Deal ends 31/03/2020

  • how is this better than the $65 12 month plan with $400 gift card you can spend on anything?

If you're buying a super expensive mobile you get $100 more off it

    • I thought you can get $500 on the 12 month plan if you ask in store at JB Hifi?

Also, does it even matter any more? I didn't think Telstra plans lock you in any more?

They dropped that around September last year and it's been $400 ever since. The added bonus was that you call up Telstra and switch to the $69 plan which was discounted to $49 so save an extra $16 per month too. Always check for deals like that.

  • Depends on personal use I suppose, the additional 20gb could be the tipping point for some, hence included both deals in the description.

  • the good guy promotions click into it ,detail was Jb Hi-Fi plan? Beware this type of Jb plan over data usage, you need to pay more, but telstra store plan over data usage only slows down speed and unlimited data, the capping speed still able to watch Netflix and YouTube.

Not a great deal when there’s been many $500 off/voucher/gift deals with 60GB for $65. I’d be waiting for another since they seem to be constantly popping up…

I guess good for anyone that wants a non-iPhone and doesn’t want to wait any longer. I use a lot of data though since my home internet is crapola

  • The 12 month deal with something like this phone for free seems like a good deal for a mid level phone.

    https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/oppo-reno-z---jet-black-cph19…

    Anyone used this phone?

$32 / month for the plan after gift card for 60gb over 12 months.

  • Looks decent but the plan I have with Optus is $42/m for 80GB with Unlimited International to 15 countries. It's Optus vs Telstra but the current plan has International + more GB for less money. Did the JB Hifi one include International for Telstra?

    • JB deal doesn't include international calls

  • I'm a little confused, does anybody know if option 2 is a sim only plan or if you must bundle a phone with it?

  • 1560 - 500 = 1060
    1060 / 24 = $44.16

Personally would rather see it around $30-40 like Optus often gets down to but isn't too bad…

    Option 2 looks good, ~$28.33/Mo.

$500 off $999+ phone has been offered on 12m contracts in the past, 24m there is no significant incentive to lock yourself in, Anyone signing up to this obviously wants the overpriced iPhone pro so will use that as example, best off buy phone outright & go on cheap sim deal, breakdown if you sign up to this deal:

    65pm X 24m = $1560
    IPhone Pro 256GB = $1499 (After $500 Discount)
    Total = $3059

Not much difference from signing up with a telco saving about $350, but locked in for 24m & have to pay X amount upfront

    Or

Buy phone outright assume you can’t find phone for less than $1800, I’m sure you can find a suitable sim deal that will cost less than $1259 over the next 24m & won’t be locked in

Anyone signing up to this needs rehab

    • really I should of just said for $100 less & 12m contract you get a $400 credit that can be spent on anything, why would you lock yourself in for 24m for $100 more credit

    • Yes but the cheap sim deal may not be on the telstra network and may not offer 5g speeds. I am in Adelaide and have a 5g tower near me at home and have 5g in the city at work so I am willing to pay extra for telstra.

      • thats fine just dont sign up for the two year option, makes no sense

AFAIK the big telcos only exist any more to fleece the little guy. If everybody had the means to buy a handset plan outright, and/or prepaid plan up-front, they would, to save money. Who can't afford to pay up front? Poor people. Poor, stupid people who have to have the latest and greatest (yes, this is a generalisation and there will be a minority number of specific exceptions yada yada).

So the big telcos help those people finance their big, expensive purchase at full price, occasionally throwing them a bone like this to help them on their way to financial oblivion.

  • How much total cost will be for a S20Ultra?

  • Anyone know any good sims to port into if currently already on a Telstra plan?
