How about the just fix all the congestion first and then worry about issuing FF points… Because right now i can think of another meaning for FF !!!

  • sweet, thanks for the link

  • Tried to register but couldn't get past the Captcha code! Tried many words and audio too but it wouldn't go through.

    • some are case sensitive

      Are you sure you're human?

You sure it was the captcha code you were getting wrong??

You have to actually click on the "terms and conditions" link and open it or else it will keep failing.

Optus website is the single worst website I have ever had to use. For a tech company, it is embarrassing how bad it is. I am pretty sure it is programmed by primary school kids in Singapore.

    • Finally got it working by using Internet Explorer instead of Firefox!

Worked for me though I did have to do the Captcha twice I always have trouble with those things

Same here the first one I was like WTF? is that even english!

Worked for me, my credit card has a double points promo this month so I will be getting 4 points per dollar spent with optus.

My plan to visit all the places in the Beach Boys 1988 hit song "Kokomo" is almost complete

    • were you the guy on ABC radio?

    • Which credit card is that?

  • Done and done

  • worked for me too

  • No problems signing up for me. But it didn't pick up my home phone account automatically, so I added it and it said "pending".

One thing that was odd was that it said you can only add accounts BEFORE you finish the setup. So, if you add extra Optus services in future, I wonder how those can be linked?

    • How do I add more accounts to my Optus Rewards membership
      after registration?

Customer care can assist you in adding more eligible services that are billed or recharged in your name.

  • Is that elephant included in the deal?

hardly a bargain…FF point means nothing , only good if you're traveling businessman. Some of the comments are right, Optus and Qantas should focus on improving themselves first

I think you need to travel more often. I'm not a businessman, and I am being rewarded for my travels. My round the world trip ticket got me 30,000 points already. I am going to Hong Kong and Italy soon, After that, I will have a free return ticket to go Hong Kong. I fail to see how this means nothing.

Sorry mate, i do travel and fairly often too and i happen to own a business too. But i do know how to plan my trip better and saved more than what FF point can offer me. I don't deny FF could earn you reward, but by the time you spent all those money flying Qantas, you could have save yourself a return ticket to HK flying other airline which are not "cutthroating"

    • Not at all. Between 4-5 flights I do a year, Woolies Everyday Rewards, this and my CC all funnelling into QFF I gain about 50,000 points a year. Easily enough for a return trip in Australia somewhere or a pretty decent discount on international.

Even recently got 1500 points for staying 2 nights in a hotel which was the the same as the cheapest price I could get elsewhere through Qanatas holidays. It's about gaming the system to maximise it to be effective. For example I buy cat food. If Woolies has a deal where I get 500 QFF points for buying cat food, I might as well do it in the deal time and get the points.

  • It's a nice deal for me. thanks for sharing.

  • I did also got enrolled,as someone said its hardly a bargain !

  • didnt work for me. there is no account under your name it said. I manually registered it. Currently pending.

Their cheap movie tickets never worked for me either.

how come I can't even get past the Captcha

    • Are you sure it's the captcha, and not because you aren't filling in all the fields and ticking the boxes? When it rejects you, it highlights what's wrong with a message near the field.

For example, you HAVE to click the link to the Terms and Conditions, otherwise it unticks that field.

    • try using a different browser - I had captcha issues with Firefox but worked ok with IE.

  • Quite strange. I registered and then had to enter account number and got a message that the account pending validation. I have had this account for a long time. There is something wrong with their system.

  • Oh cool so what is that, 2 cents for every dollar spent.

  • sweet, more points for doing nothing :) win win

    • +2

exactly.. might as well sign up.. have to pay my bill monthly anyhow.

  • Points that you can theoretically accumulate on a $49 cap plan per calendar year;

    $49 * 12 = $588 total spend

    $588 * 2 = 1176 FF Points

    Assume you pay with an AMEX card that provides points = $588 * 1.03 (3% c/c Surcharge) = $605.64

Total FF points = ~1782 points.

Pretty neglible for a year if you make a decision to move to Optus from another carrier just for the points. I'm not saying its a bad thing at all, awesome for existing customers. Just saying the rewards isn't enough to entice a FF point chaser like myself to switch over. Perhaps Optus and Qantas can come up with a 5000 bonus signup point structure, THEN maybe I'll consider moving over to a sub-par (read: I'm comparing with Telstra) network.

  • No bargain, good if you an existing customer, through not worth switching to Optus for this.
