Don't forget to price match at OWs!

    • Thanks, I didn't for once! Picked up for $228 this arvo 👌

  • +2

    Boost also supports VOLTE

    • +1

They do, but only with Telstra whitelisted device.

In short if you grey import your phones, VoLTE may not work.

      • My Android device was purchased outright and works perfectly fine with VOLTE.

      • My wife's S10e is a dual-sim grey import and VoLTE works fine.
        But yes, YMMV

    • +3

YMMV - had some initial problems with a Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro, after a hard reset all good. VoWIFI works as well. XDA is a good resource

Enter these codes into the Dialer to enable the options in Settings. (Settings < SIM Cards & mobile networks < Sim Card Settings < VoLTE Enabled/Make Calls using WLAN)
      VoLTE ##86583##
      VoWIFI ##869434##

    • +1

How do you enable VoLTE on an iPhone X? Can’t seem to find this feature on my iPhone X. I am with Boost.
      Thanks.

Edit: found it. It is on by default.

  • +1

When do we need to activate the plan by?

    • +6

*40GB bonus data on $150 SIM: Available to customers who buy a $150 SIM online and activate between 18.02.20 and 30.03.20. Offer available while stocks last.”

      • Now that is a bargain!

    • +2

These SIMs are reasonably long expiry - at least April 2021 IIRC from the last time this deal was posted. Only downside - new customers only so will need to port out with a cheap option like this Optus $2 SIM and port back in again.

      • Sounds good thanks. I am not with Boost so will prob buy this and port in!

    • +1

i contacted boost directly this morning and asked the same question and i was told expiry is 2 years.

      • Perfect thanks

      • Wait … I can buy this, and not activate it for 6 months? Then get 12 months from that point?

  • I'm looking to port in two different numbers.

Can you have two different numbers or does "new customers only" mean only one number/service?

    • +2

You can I have done more than 1 port in.

  • +2

If you pricematch this at Officeworks, it is double the data (equivalent to 20gb, rather than 10gb, a month) for $78 more. Seems like a good deal, thanks!

    • Is this physically a starter pack or do we need to get $2 Sim + recharge?

      • It is the sim, not a recharge.

    • Just price matched at Officeworks for $228 pickup. Thanks!

      • Me too.. bought 2

  • Already with boost, can I port out and port in again to use this offer?

    • Yes

      • Has anybody done this before?

  • I purchased 2 SIMS pricematched with Officeworks - 1 for myself - 1 for my partner.
Will it create issues with my partner tries to transfer her number across to Boost when the SIM was purchased under my name?
    Thanks

    • +1

Don't think email id used to purchase the Sim will be linked .. you won't have any issues during activation.

Worst scenario, Telstra/ boost live chat will sort it for you

      • Thanks, will give it a shot

      • " Worst scenario, Telstra/ boost live chat will sort it for you. " I admire your faith in them. ;-)

    • +12

When porting a mobile number it's important the name on the ACCOUNT for the existing plan, and the name on the NEW account match perfectly.

I used to work for a large telco.

Also, as a kid, I had a lot of issues porting my number when I had thought it was cool that my title be "Lord" rather than "Mr"…. caused one hell of an issue for a while. lol.

      • haha classic.

      • Last name Fauntleroy by chance?

      • +1

Date of birth is critical, must match. They use mob number and date of birth for pre-paid account when porting.

  • Ordered directly from Boost a month ago and I still haven't received my sim card…

    • +2

Wow, have you contacted them? I’ve ordered twice and both times received it next day to a regional city by registered post.

      • +1

Yes I have. I chatted every week

        • Still waiting….3 weeks now.

          • @sanjesh: They are not really reliable with their deliveries. Tbh I just go to Woolworths and buy a $2 then recharge.

    • I ordered on 3rd Jan, never received, rang them start of Feb, and they promised refund in week, still waiting on that, on top of that when you ask customer service rep their name, they bloody hang up on you…

  • +1

I am waiting for a deal in $150 plan. My wife's Optus plan will end 11/3. Any deal around?

      • Thanks, I am aware of that. I am looking for cheaper price deal. I missed the last deal from easybuy.

        • If you waiting on a deal on the price then you'll only get 80gb cos the 40 is the current deal. You ok with 80gb a year? If not just get the deal now.

        • +1

Yeah. The regular deal here is $135 for the 80Gb pack.
I mean you're talk an extra dollar a month (well 15, not 12) for an extra 3Gb a month.
Just buy it and then no more refreshing ozbargain :P

          • @nzcoops: ha ha, true. But oz-bargainer always try for a bargain!
I will wait this week to see if any deal comes up, otherwise I will head to OW to buy this.

            • @imeanit: I am waiting for $150 deal as well….but nothing seems to be coming through….

  • Price match with this one in officeworks right?
    https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/boost-300-…

    • Yes, it'll be $228.

  • +1

Tagging on this thread because not sure if it's been answered yet.
I'm currently on Telstra, will I need to port out and then back in ago for Boost?

    • Call them and they will send U a blank Sim. Call them again once U get the blank Sim to port over

      • Call Telstra or Boost?

      • I've already got a Boost SIM pack ($150 one) so, should I just stick that in and away we go? Or do I need to port out to say Optus and then back to Boost?

        • +1

If already got boost Sim, then easy way around the hassle is.. switch to Kogan or Optus etc and port in to boost afterwards

          • +2

@Seven8Nine: Yep just spoke to online chat.

Can't port directly from Telstra to Boost.

Will probably port to Kogan/Optus first then port back into Boost.

    • Ooh, good question.

      • see post below. easier port out it seems
Although I might off had the three stooges do mine.

    • +1

      https://boost.com.au/get-help/help-topics/#HOW_DO_I_BRING_MY…

If you are porting from Telstra to Boost Mobile, you will need a special blank Boost Mobile SIM. Please call 1800 100 933 (8am-9pm AEST, 7 days) and we will send one out to you.
If you’re in metro Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart or Brisbane, you’ll receive it the next day (if your order is placed before 4pm).
When your blank SIM arrives, contact Boost on 1800 100 933 (8am-9pm, 7 days) to activate it.

  • -1

What is the latest we can activate this ? Anyone?

    • I bought one of these a month ago from OW and from memory the expiry was something like April 2021.

  • Its great offer and timing wise, hopefully they deliver it soon

    • Yes it's good Goodfather. I got one for my father.

  • +1

just pricematch with Officeworks pickup too, thank you! :)

    • Which product are you price matching with? Is it this one? https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/boost-300-…

      Thanks!

      • +1

        yes thats correct!

        • Thank you :) Just got one as well.

    • Is that over the phone only?

EDIT: Spoke to a team member in the Mel CBD store who said that yes, it's only over the phone as they can't do price-match if they don't stock the item. It worked over the phone and waiting to pick it up from the store tomorrow.

      • I did it over the phone, but I don't see why they wont price-match you if you go in store, and they have stock in that store?

  • on the website when you click on the plan, there is a button for new customers to order a sim, or current customers to recharge, and it says "select $300 when you recharge". Does this mean that existing customers can recharge for $240 as well? I don't have a Boost number (yet) so can't get in to test it.

    • +1

      Interested in this scenario too..

    • Highly doubt it as there hasn't been any love for existing customers. Top of the same plan shows - NEW CUSTOMERS ONLY. HURRY OFFER ENDS 9.03.20. TERMS APPLY.

  • I'm with Telstra now. Do I just buy a Optus Sim port it there. Then port back a few days later?

    • No, just contact Boost and they will send you a blank sim card which you can port to.

      • Isn't this for new customers? Isn't boost Telstra?

        • +2

Boost is owned by Telstra but they're still separate companies as far as I know. I think they do a number 'transfer', not so much a port, but effectively it's the same. Only thing is you have to call to get the blank sim and call again when you have it to transfer your number over to the blank sim.

          • +1

            @jps: Thanks ozbro

          • +3

            @jps:

Boost is owned by Telstra but they're still separate companies as far as I know.

Boost are not owned by Telstra

There’s often questions asked in the community around Boost and Telstra including what the difference is, are they the same, does Telstra own Boost and so on. This should clarify it for everyone.

Firstly, Telstra does not own Boost. Boost owns Boost. Telstra and Boost have an agreement wherein Boost customers have access to the 4G Telstra Mobile Network and share some of the same backend systems. Boost and Telstra are the only brands that have access to this network which is Australia’s biggest network.

  • Just called up Boost support and they said since I'm on Telstra already and want to port from there that I need a blank sim but with that blank sim I can't do the $240 recharge so I should instead port to someone else first then back to Boost. Not sure if this is correct or if the CSA was wrong about the process.

    • Just buy a $2 optus/voda sim and port out first. Then port to boost on the second day.

    • I recently went through this for two services. I first got the blank Boost sim, ported over and the sim was active, then Boost online chat applied the credit to the blank sim.

My Kogan sim expires on the 31st May.. when do i have to activate this by?

Keen to jump onto this sort of plan to get on the Telstra network! Sick of the Kogan/Vodafone network!!!!

    • from what i asked the boost person, she said well u the price promotion ends 09 march 2020.. but activation.. can be anytime before the sim card expires.. which is like one april 2021. so i think it will work okay for u.. because what u get is just a discount price from 300 to $228 at ow price match.. but the plan details 240gb per year is still the same..

  • Just in time my Kogan one expires in 2 days

    • Last month I think it was, I switched from Kogan and suprised that in Sydney boost service seems to be slower and more drop outs.

On the North Shore Train where Kogan\Vodaphone dropped out at waverton, Boost is fine. but now I get no signal From Norwest to Bellavista on the Metro and drop outs on the harbour bridge and city tunnels!! So more dropouts!! Every single trip.

Really wish these carriers would share more mobile towers, as I was expecting Telstra coverage to be a lot better.
PS: Regional coverage is better most the time.

  • Bought 1 , thanks Op cheers

  • Does this include NRL/AFL Live Pass?

    • Yes it does.

  • Bought 1, thanks OP :)

    • Well that's just plain wrong.

      • -3

Check out my speedtest results and you'll see. Right in the middle of Metro melbourne. Getting about 5mbps download.

  • Thanks OP, just ordered one with officeworks :D

    • mate, can officeworks price match for an order to be clicked and collect?

      • from my experience looking for a way to do it online, there is none.

I called and then they sent to my nearest store to collect, so its more call and collect :)

  • What is your experience with the quality of International calls?

I have used Vodafone and the quality was terrible. There was a huge delay when speaking. No complaints with Belong and Telstra.

Not sure if it matters but the calls were to Sri Lanka.

    • Most international calls from mobile are like this unfortunately. Same with Optus and Telstra in my experience.
International call is better through landline for business, or use WhatsApp/Skype/others.
