  • So you don't need to buy through boost? Just activate any $150 plan before end of March? Got the Ms the $150 sim for like $105 the other month from Coles and will be activating before end of March.

    • +4

howd you get the sim for $105? i thought it was $135 at coles

      • +4

Price reduced to $135, I had 20% off Coles/Myer GC from AMEX then also had a 1000 and 2000 point promo for the spend on flybuys. Essentially $108 cost and $15 extra in flybuys points

    • Is it still $135 at Coles…Does anyone know?

    • -1

Available to customers who buy a $150 SIM online and activate by 30.03.20.

    • +2

WARNING: Boost is fine until you have a problem. Then you'll find the customer service can't always help and may send you to a Telstra shop who don't serve Boost costomers.

      Hopeless.

If you don't need international calls buy the Optus version of this. Their customer service is great online/phone and in-shop.

      • -1

is there any other similar version like Boost and optus

  • +15

Is this a specific recharge (that you have to buy through this deal) or does it apply to previous purchases (made from a previous deal, but not redeemed yet)?

I have a $150 recharge ready to go from one of the previous $130-$135 sales (probably 6 months ago!). I'm due to redeem that at the end of the month - will I get the extra data, even though I didn't purchase it under this promotion?

(sorry couldn't find correct T&Cs…the ones listed on the page are for other promos!)

    • Thanks for bringing up. I would like to know this too

    • +4

Comments below seem to indicate this is online only, but I’d like to know for sure. Can someone with an existing sim try it and let us know?

      Updated: Boost chat agent said

So to be clear, I don’t need to buy it directly from Boost?
For example, I can get a $150 SIM from Officeworks and will still get the bonus data?
      Ivy Andrea - 8:06

Yes, as long as you have $150 sim kit

      • Oh. So a $150 recharge won’t work, it’s gotta be a SIM Kit?

        • +1

Looks like yes. It says activate by 30.03.20, not recharge.
But I guess changing a sim wont cause too much hassle?

          • @seanyong: I’ve already bought a discounted recharge voucher for later though…

            • @sween64: Where did you get a discounted recharge voucher from I need one asap.

I assumed the deals here were sim kits only unless you found a legit recharge code seller somewhere cheaper than through boost itself.

              • @AlienC: Coles were selling them but not at the moment.

      • +1

        I had a different answer.

'for the 40gb bonus data on the $150 sim, can this be purchased anywhere or must it be purchased online?

        Jerson - 8:34
        Online only, Lee.'

        • lol - who to believe?

        • +2

Jerson from online chat is giving wrong information.

ive spoken to him as i had issues activating my sim 3 days ago . He also said its a Online deal only.
But once my sim was activated it showed 120GB.

You will get 120GB data doesnt matter if you bought this online or store so long you activate it by 30 march. 2020.
Hope this clears things up for oz bargainers.

    • online with chat, apparently its only for people that purchase the sim from today.
no extra data offered at all.

      • Have you activated your boost SIM and checked this or is this what the agent said?

        • -1

I activated my service last week.

          • +5

@QWUX: Well obviously that's not going to get any extra data, you activated last week.

The question being asked here was if you bought a kit before (and haven't activated yet) would it be eligible.

      • How can they possibly determine this, I feel like controversy brewing

    • I would also know. I have a Boost $150 bought from third party but not yet activated.
I plan to do this in April. If I activate now, will I get the Bonus 40G?

  • +1

    Hi OP
WHEN YOU ACTIVATE $150 SIM BY 31.3.20 (30.0.20)

    • +1

Fixed. The "30.0.20" is what Boost had on their webpage.

      • Cheers

      • +8

The "30.0.20" is what Boost had on their webpage.

        That's the loophole.

      • What does that mean and does this offer apply for recharge as i have my current boost plan expire in 2 months…can i buy the recharge voucher now with this offer and use it then ?

        • I want to know the same…

        • No. New customers only.

  • +1

I bought a $2 boost sim and activated the $150 12 Months Plan few days ago. Will I get the bonus data?

    • +2

We are in the same boat. Please let me know if you find the answer.

      • +9

We are in the same boat.

Hope you have a life vest on…

        • +3

Nope.Waiting for a bargain on Life Vest on OzBargain.

@jv: That deal was posted December 2016 and WSS became a member of OzB in July 2017.

              • +4

@strangeloops66: You don't need to be a member to take up the deals.

                • +1

@jv: That's true, however I was assuming most people would join on becoming aware of the website's existence. If you're a member, you can comment and have a gay ol' time.

            • @jv: Well, that deal was posted way before I joined OzBargain. ;)

    • Following, I just activate 2 day's ago. ,🤔😉

    • +3

Same. But in the t&C it says bonus starts from 18th Feb…

I think we miss out. I'm connected to online chat to ask

      • any news?

        • +1

They said they would give it to me but nothing has shown up in my account yet

          • @edrift: Thanks. Will try out our luck then

            • @Ceri: I contacted them again and finally got it applied

              • @edrift: can u let me know ur number? they reckon they can't do it, boost said they will check it, if u got it done they will offer it, but they didn't beleive me on it. Bunch of b@stards

                • @Limboz888: Just got off the phone to the complaints, they have now offer me the bonus data

  • Do we get this if we activated it only a month prior? Considering they had a discount deal just before…

  • when does this deal expire? as in when will we not be able to buy this deal

  • Can we stack these? I already have 240gb $300 one already and was wondering if I can add this onto it and make it last for two years?

    • +1

      No

  • -2

10 GB/month should be enough for anybody.

    • +2

      Na

    • only just for me, I will have to be careful

    • After 11 months I still have 70 of my 80GB left, so I'll probably be good renewing without the special offer.

      • I have about 30gb left of the 80. The bonus amount isn't really an incentive lol

    • Nearly 10 months in and I have 58 GB left of my 80 GB, so the bonus data of this deal isn't very enticing for me.

I remember talking to someone who was on something like 80 GB or 100 GB pm and still went over every month. He used Spotify a lot. Probably YouTube and Netflix as well.

      • It would have to be more than just Spotify. Or he’s using Spotify literally 24x7.

320 kbps (kilobits per second) = 40 KBps (kilobytes per second) = 3.3 GB per day

      • +2

They were using pornhub for sure.

Just a heads up to anyone trying to port in from vodafone now/soon. Apparently there is a glitch in the system that affects porting between them to telstra and they are not sure when it can be resolved. (I have been waiting 5 days now with no signs of progress until this gets fixed)

    • Ouch that's nasty, I did have a Port in issue once that took a couple days or so, most seem more or less instant.

      • I had a massive port issue from lebara to boost. Took 3 weeks. Was able to get a free sim to use in the meantime w a free month of additional recharge because I called everyday. Was quite frustrating actually.

Definitely call both boost to check and complain, meantime call Vodafone to check they have ported you out.

        • I have never had a port that took longer than 2 hours so it was definitely a surprise. I have been calling everyday and despite all the talk about "escalating" and "high priority" they do not appear to be able to sort this out soon. Just didn't want all the ozbargainers possibly moving from Kogan/Lebara to Boost to end up with the same issue.

    • Yeah tried to port my fiancee's number from Kogan and it's been held up, they said it should be fixed today but fingers crossed as her Kogan plan expires today.

      • +1

Hopefully for us they do actually manage to fix it today. Unfortunately I was told that it would have been fixed last Friday by their port in team.

        • From Friday to now Tuesday, yikes.

          Here's hoping!

          • @mangobango: Unfortunately just got off the phone with the port in team and confirmed by live chat. They both say to expect 10 days.

            • @jhck28: Wtf, another 10 days??

Might need to swing past the shops on the way home then and pick up a $2 Sim, unless Kogan has some cheap recharge option.

Thanks for the heads up ✌️

In the same boat, trying to port from Kogan to Telstra prepaid.
Only did mine yesterday. It would be nice if they actually disclose this crap so people aren’t in limbo for ages.

    • I should read the comment before porting my number Voda to Boost today Y_Y

    • This has been going on for over 3 months. My in-law took a good 3 weeks to port to Telstra from Vodafone.

    • +1

That's the same b.s. excuse they have me 4 months ago. Took a week to transfer from Kogan. Can't believe they still haven't sorted it out

    • I feel your pain - I'm in the same boat. Thanks for letting the community know :-)

    • My port from Telstra to Vodafone on Wednesday got stuck too. The port went through this afternoon. It looks like they've resolved the issue.

I had ordered a Boost SIM last week and activated it today as a new customer. My number was ported across from Vodafone to Boost about an hour ago. I recharged online with the 120GB offer splashed all over the page.

I should pay closer attention to the fine print next time:
"NEW CUSTOMERS: Grab a SIM & get bonus 40GB"
"CURRENT CUSTOMERS: Select $150 when you recharge for 80GB"

The Boost Mobile app says I now have 80GB of data.

Edit: I contacted Live Chat and explained. They kindly bumped the data up from 80GB to 120GB. YMMV

(Disclaimer: I'm associated with Telstra. Comments are my own.)

    • Ported today from Kogan to Boost, started 8am, completed by 2pm. slow by standards of previous 6-10 minute ports, but still ok.

  • +6

    Where is existing customer love?

    • Never has been a thing with anyone…. Port out and back in….

      • +1

Kogan used to do so when they upgraded their data plans, but it has been a while since they have uppped their data though

        • Data upgrades happened on many providers, I believe there was some decreased costs providers passed on, though happy to be proven wrong on that.

Should just port in and out on those Catch or Telstra starter deals if you must…. that's the best way to get these sorts of things.

        • Kogan was per month allowance where as Boost is per annum.
Seems this Boost promo may apply to existing customers who renew, but I'm not entirely sure yet.

          • @Global Nomad: Not if you renew after March it seems, so hardly a reward for existing customers if your plan doesn’t expire before then.

            • +1

@cloudy: Was just on chat with them and told not for existing customers. Even though the page indicates it is with 120GB for $150 plastered all over the screen

              • @SirNed: It says quite clearly on the buy button that recharges are 80GB. It does NOT indicate 120GB for recharges.

      • Kogan was great with existing customer love!
