Great, thank you for your help! I never would've known to do this.

  • Tried calling to port number from Telstra (the FAQ says bringing a number from Telstra requires a special Boost blank SIM), and the operator said the deal is not valid for Telstra customers.

  • If I go to Coles tomorrow and buy the boost mobile $150 starter sim kit would I get 120gb or only 80gb? Or is this online deal only?

    • At this point, I would be happy to get even the 80GB… I have been to my local Coles, Woolworths, Officeworks and Post Office and none of them have any stock! Most have no idea about the product in the first place, others claim that the only $150 Boost item they have is a recharge voucher. Very frustrating.

  • Optus sent a deal matching this so went with that

    • Link Optus deal

      • It was some loyalty deal for already being with them so may not be applicable, I hadn't heard of Boost before so stuck with Optus.

    • Didn't Optus have this deal before boost?

  • +1

I am still waiting for my order since 27/1… now doing a refund and the agent online said i have to wait for another 7-10 working days for the refund. No way, i am going to dispute this with my credit card company.l Tomorrow is my last day with my current operator and i do not want to be out of pocket twice!

    • Did you get the refund or did the order arrive? The same for my order from 28/1. The customer service on phone or online was very rude and unprofessional.

  • +3

I just grabbed two of these $150 Prepaid Sim Black cards at Officeworks.

I've activated one and the offer details screen said "120GB data (80GB + 40GB bonus) when you active (sic) this $150 SIM by 30 March 2020."

My number is apparently already ported over (took like 5 minutes), and after a restart I'm up and running, with app showing 120GB data.

Fingers crossed that it works just as seamlessly when I try second sim on my wife's phone!

    • +1

thanks this is useful info based on needing it in next few days and hearing some delivery issues above.

    • +1

I can confirm the same, bought the $150 sim pack from Officeworks, ported out from Optus and the service was active within 2 hours. Thanks OP :)

    • Ditto. OW $150 starter sim, wife ported over from Lebara, coupla hours, no probs. Showing 120GB available.

  • I suggest everyone who purchased a $2 sim and voucher to speak to online chat to get reference number in case they don't add the bonus.

    • +2

No bonus to $2 sim + $150 recharge. The bonus 40GB only applies to $150 starter sim. Both online chat and call centre say the same thing. I just wasted a $2 from trying the $2 starter sim route.

      • +1

I don't mind the negs. Just letting others know what to expect.

        Good grief.

    • I'm worried about this being hit and miss. I have a recharge voucher as Coles didn't have a valid starter kit - so now i need to source my own sim to activate.

Or get a family member to use my existing sim and get a new one to be sure..

  • +2

Just bought the sim for $135.38 from office works Doncaster in Melbourne. And i also received 120gb data and the port only took 10min from optus.

    • Which website did you use for price match?

      • +1

        Enjoyebuy.com.au

        • Soldout now

    • Was the enjoyebuy deal sold out when you did the price match? I'm going to OW there tomorrow…

      • They may not price match due to the item being sold out. It might be easier to call up and ask them first. Either way, let me know how you go. I would also like to Price Match.

        • +1

No price match. Might wait a little to see if the enjoyebuy deal comes back in stock.

  • How do people find the speeds? I have ported from Optus to Boost and noticed a dramatic speed drop in comparison to Optus. EG Optus was over 60 to 100mbits and on boost I struggle to get 30mbits.

    • I just did a speedtest…

      Test Date: 23 Feb 2020 1:03 am
      Download: 76.9 Mbps
      Upload: 7.59 Mbps
      Ping: 27 ms
      Connection Type: Cellular
      Server: Melbourne

      • Hmm I spose it just comes down to my location then. I cant really complain as I got the 240gb one for 12 months and wont have phone bills for awhile.

  • +1

bought my prepaid sim kit 2 months ago. Ported out of Catch Connect to Boost. Took at most 20 minutes for the whole porting process to be complete. Also received the 120gb data. So easy and seamless.

  • I think I've missed out on the window where Boost allocated 40GB bonus to starter packs bought from other retailers, so I decided to buy it online to ensure I get the bonus data. Fingers crossed it arrives in time before the final activation date. For me it is a great deal if you consider the international calls.

I used Paypal for the transaction, and noticed that payments went direct to Telstra. I guess this means Boost not only uses a slightly capped Telstra network, but IS actually operated by Telstra?

  • Is there a similar deal with a carrier that supports international data roaming? E.g. Kogan. I like to always have that as a backup overseas or use it during a layover/

  • +1

Activated 3 days too early.. my son would have been happy to see an extra 40GB!

  • Ordered.

    Thanks OP.

  • I am currently on Telstra. Are Telstra and Boost considered seperate networks? Or I will have to port out to some other network from Telstra to come back to Boost?

    • Got the answer from Boost Chat, as below:

"if you're switching from Telstra to Boost Mobile, you'll need a special blank Boost Mobile SIM card. Call us on 1258881 (8am-9pm AEST, 7 days) and we'll send one out to you".

  • Just a heads up to those whom ordered a sim online on the 18th. I just went onto chat with them as it's now been a week since I ordered it and was given the following shipping times, "METRO AREAS >> Approx. 14 business days, NON METRO >> 16-18 business days, REGIONAL / REMOTE AREAS >> 18-20 business days". I was offered the option of going to buy a $2 sim and they'd credit the $150. As I don't urgently need the sim, yet, I said I'd wait for now. Not too good especially as their order emails are still stating, "Next business day for metro deliveries and within 2-7 days for other areas".

    • Received my sim today via StarTrack. Ported from Kogan in 5 minutes. 120GB showing on the app.

  • Spoke to online support. This deal only available If you purchase online.

    • +2

Support are useless. I and many others have this deal and purchased through Officeworks.

      • So just activated like normal then it just works?

    • Last night, online support told me the same thing, that the deal is only available online. I bought a $150 sim from OfficeWorks this morning, activated it online, and the mobile app shows 120GB.

      • Yea online support specifically said "we can also identify which sims were purchased online". Going officeworks this weekend lol.

        • Jerson from online chat is giving wrong information.

ive spoken to him as i had issues activating my sim 3 days ago . He also said its a Online deal only.
But once my sim was activated it showed 120GB.

You will get 120GB data doesnt matter if you bought this online or store so long you activate it by 30 march. 2020.
Hope this clears things up for oz bargainers.

ps i bought the sim in store months ago.

  • Looking to move off Aldi since expiry is in 2 days from today.

Can I just purcahse some $2 cards at Woolies and then sign up online like I did with Aldi last year and be eligble for this? or do I need to find a $150 sim pack in store?

Need to move quick since I was going to just lapse over auto-renew but this is $100 cheaper for more now.

    • -1

Sim pack. Do not get the $2 Sim unless you're happy to miss out on the bonus.

      • they're saying weeks for delivery online.. so i'm guessing I can buy somewhere?

        • Do you not read the comments?

          • +1

@thedavemiester: yep, do you not want to be helpful?
there's conflicting messages all over the place.
buy $2 and activate it and you get it… no you dont.. boost said x, boost said y.. there's no clear defined answer.

  • Any issues with using one of these sims in an iPad? Is anyone else doing that?

  • I was told on online chat that the current delivery times were 2 weeks for a new SIM. They told me to buy a $2 sim and come back. When I did, they activated the sim for me in online chat, then got me to recharge it on the $150 plan while they waited. They then applied the extra 40Gb to the account. Very easy and quick.

    • good advice, thanks

I looked all around today but can't find a $150 sim instore so I think I will do this…

ps i bought my simcard in store.

    • +1

I bought my SIM from Officeworks 2 days ago and I got 120gb too

  • I wish boost had a 120 or 150gb 12month expiry sim as an actual plan you could recharge to. It sucks that it's just $150 for 80gb or $300 for 240. Why isn't there something inbetween, this deal is great for that, but its only for new customers. I'm not expecting a discount, I just want to be able to pay for something in-between.

    • How about 240 gb for $228. Pay in between 150 and 300 but get more data

Boost has 240gb for $240. Just do price match in price match in officeworks for further 5% off. I got it last time.

Want a better deal still? Try to get coles officeworks gift card with discounted Coles giftcard and get 4% extra off.

      • Thats for new customers only. specifically said recharges.

        • It's not hard to become a new customer. Just Port out and Port in. If you don't have free sim from earlier deals, just add $2 as extra expense. Just saying it's possible.

          • @jsb: Of course it's possible. But it's a pain in the ass if you need your mobile for work during that period. And you still don't end up with what I was asking for, something in-between 80gb and 240gb on a 12mnth expiry. Yes, I'm aware you can go with the 60gb 6month expiry and have 120 for the year, but it doesn't work out too well if your like me and wont use more than 1gb data for months but need to use a lot of it over the course of a few days when you go out to remote locations and tether your phone for downloading.

  • thanks OP! Just bought!

  • So, i purchased a 150$ recharge and 2$ sim from Coles. They graciously added on the bonus data :).

Pixel 4XL + Boost Sim. Sorted for the year. Thanks!

    • Really they did?

Back in stock in Enjoyebuy at $142.50.. I just ordered 2 Boost SIM kits with officeworks over the phone with price beat with Enjoyebuy, ordered 2 SIM kits, paid $135.35 each, collecting from local store tomorrow.. My current Boost 12 months plan is expiring early April so I'll just port out to Optus and port in to Boost again before 31st March to get 40gb bonus..

    • +1

I just did the same after reading your post, thank you for the heads up. Hopefully the bonus data will be added seamlessly when I port over.

    • I've done the price match too. ordered 3 and gonna pick them up tomorrow

  • Just activated $150 sim I purchased from Officeworks a couple of weeks ago. Rec'd the 40gb bonus.

  • I activated a $2 SIM card(new customer to boost) which bought from Woolies, then I found out the fine print says "Activate A $150 SIM".

Jump on to the website, start to chat with the customer service online. That was the first thing they say to me as well, however, they advise me to recharge the $150 plan then they will add the extra 40 GB for me. It is pretty quick, less than 10 mins :)

  • Tried to price match OW over the phone, they said Enjoyebuy doesn't have ABN listed and they cannot price match :(
Will try again a bit later

    • Yeah definitely try again later; I successfully got them to price match enjoyebuy the other day and they never mentioned anything about an ABN

Bought a $150 from Big W after being told of the delays. Tried to activate online and said my SIM serial was invalidate but chat offered to activate it but with no extra 40GB for not buying it online. What a pain in the ass.

  • I'm with Telstra, from what I've read Boost need to send a special SIM for an automatic transfer.

Is it faster to go buy a $2 Optus Sim at the store and transfer to that and then transfer to Boost? If anyone has done this can you say how long it took?

    • +1

I ported Telstra -> Optus (officeworks has a $5 sim pack with $10 credit at the moment) and then Optus -> Boost. And had no issues getting the bonus 40gb.

Both ports done within an hour/two on Saturday afternoon. Though some SMS related stuff seems to not have been resolved till today.

      • Champion, thank you!

        • +1

You're welcome hope it goes well

  • Bought a new $150 sim from ebay. Applied to port-in my old number from optus on 12th of march, while activating online and it showed 120GB data at that time but still waiting for the activation to complete.

  • Porting was incredibly quick from Amaysim to Boost. I got my sim from ebay.

  • Is this deal still available? I can't see any mention on the link?

Edit: Okay there's a small text about 40GB bonus for new customers. Hopefully will work if I buy at a retailer and activate.

    • please let me know

I can't find any $150 sim cards in stores right now (coles, wollies or 7eleven). but will try a $2 sim and recharge over chat

  • Is live chat (24x7) working (Sunday afternoon)? I can see on the help page there is Live Chat mentioned but there is no button to press?

    • It's under Help- Ask a question-Wanna have a chat. It's not live though, hasn't been for at least 3 days just 1 of those virtual assistants.

      • Thanks. That's the box I've looked at. Seems like the Chat Now button is only available on my iPhone but not on my desktop PC (Chrome or Firefox). As you said there is no live person anyway.

  • OKay

there were no $150 start up sims anywhere near me because of whats going on - so I was able to get a $2 sim at 7-eleven.

Question: if I purchase the 120Gb deal for $150 now on the Boost website, can I use the $2 sim I just bought to activate the deal and get the bonus 40gb?

    cheers.

  • Far out, submitted my request today but could take up to 24 hours to activate - at what point do i use my credit voucher? eek

    • Mine took ~15mins to go through :) but ymmv

      • Did you do it through the website? I can't get past the enter your email address and home address page for some reason…

        • Yep. Just make sure you enter the same details i.e. name and DOB as the service you are porting from.

Try using another browser or inserting SIM into phone and access the website on phone.

      • I'm porting, nothing has moved since this morning

  • I attempted to port from Kogan to Boost for 10 days. I'll spare you the list of calls made and hours wasted. After many promises, and no action the last person I spoke to on evening of Saturday 28 March said the portability team is in India,on lock down and nothing to be done.

I have submitted a complaint to the TIO. Not sure If I should raise a dispute with PayPal…

  • Today I successfully ported out from Boost to Optus and immediately ported back to Boost again as a new customer to get total 120GB data.. repeated same on my wife's mobile as well.. took only total 15 minutes per mobile to port out and in.. thanks OP..

  • Used a $2 SIM and $150 recharge voucher that I bought from Coles for $135 last year. Ported my number in and recharge $150. Called Boost (waited 40min) and they added in the bonus 40GB, no questions asked about where I bought it from etc.

    • how did you word it? im on hold to them now im worried ill miss out on the bonus : (

      • after an hour and 45mins noone answered, now there its out of the hours to call. I regret this so much

        • Sorry to hear that you missed out. I actually called 3 times. The first two times the line dropped after 40 minutes. The third time I managed to speak to someone.

I said I called previously wanting to take advantage of the 40GB bonus, but there is not enough time to ship me the $150 pack, so I was advised to go buy a $2 SIM and a $150 recharge, then call back to get the 40GB added.

          • @DKC: thanks for your help, they added it on
