I haven't read all of the above. I just rant Boost. They said you need to buy the $150 SIM to get the 40GB. If you have a $2 sim and a $150 RECHARGE you won't get the 40GB. Good luck.

    • They told me the same thing. But they did confirm that you can buy the $150 sim from a third party still get the bonus, though you may need to ring and ask for it.

      • I'm starting to lose interest. I went to Optus store today, the $180 365 plan is $150 only online, but could take two weeks to deliver. I'll probably just stick with Kogan $205 365 13GB.

  • Here's hoping for a rerun in 4 months when I need to recharge!

  • Can this be used for data only/mobile broadband (Etc in nighthawk m1)?

A long time ago Optus told me that they have different SIM cards for mobile phones and mobile broadband and they can not be interchanged….

    • Yes

  • what's the deal with data rolling over when you recharge?
is it the full amount or is it capped or what?

    • No rollover on 6 or 12 month plans from Boost

      • poop
guess i'm going with woolies mobile then

  • I've previously bought this sim card back in January 27th and still haven't received it yet. Is anyone in the same boat as me and know we can redeem this deal once we ACTUALLY get our cards?

I would advise from purchasing online if you're in immediate need of one.

  • fark i connect 1 day too early and missed out i jsut rang them, only did it yeterday at 4pm

I was an existing Boost customer with about 1 week to go before my current 12 month $150 reload finished. I ported out and back, and have the 120gb data allowance. Below is what i did.

I went to Officeworks and bought the $150 Boost Sim card, and got pricematch as per comment by LauWong above. I also went to Coles and bought a $2 Coles prepaid Sim (Optus). Advantage of Coles prepaid sim is you can activate online without needing to do a recharge.

I activated the Coles prepaid sim and within minutes was on the Optus network. Waited 5 minutes and then activated the Boost sim. During activation where it shows the offer, it showed the 120gb as per screenshot by JoelT above.

Within a couple of minutes, i was back on Boost and have 120gb. I can see it in the App on my phone as well.

Porting to Optus, and then back to Boost took about 15 minutes in total.

Hopefully the above is useful to others :-)

    • Thanks for confirming offer works if you but from OW/Coles.. I got my Sim from Coles…hope I get the offer when I activate.

      • Do you have a $150 SIM Kit or a $150 recharge voucher from Coles?

  • I'm currently on a Telstra plan, will they accept porting from Telstra to Boost?

    • Yes but you have to go Telstra Post-Paid to Telstra Pre-Paid then to Boost and it has to be done with the help of CSRs.

  • looks good, thinking of buying 4 for family members, any clever way to save some money?

    • Price beat at Officeworks

Is anyone else having trouble accessing the Boost live chat or is it just me?

I've tried looking at the Contact Us page and the "wanna have a chat" section has no link. Then I tried this website (https://livechat.boost.com.au/) and it just redirects to the main website. Might anyone have another link I could use?

    Thanks!

      • +1

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, that's the same page I wrote about above (accidentally called it the Contact Us page). There is no link for the live chat there; only for a phone call (1800 100 933).

There is no link for "Live Chat (24x7)". Are people communicating with the service reps using a chat function or am I just making an incorrect assumption that there is one?

        Thanks!

        • I could never find the live chat window either. I figured it's a Chrome bug and there should be a chat button on that page?

        • +4

I had the same issue, disabling Adblock revealed the button. Hope that works for you too!

          • @nickeveli: Whoa, that fixed it! Thanks for your help!

            • @Sploots: I can’t find it on mobile but it worked on a tablet.

  • +1

I activated the sim I bought from Officeworks on Sunday with Richmond in chat after the online activation failed due to technical difficulties. It includes the bonus 40gb (total 120gb). Ported from Optus after they told me their $150 deal was for new customers only. Boost seems like a better deal. Cheaper anyway.

  • A little concerned about receiving the SIM Kit from them, as I ordered on 26/1/2020 and still not received, and when I called today, they were unable to find out when the warehouse would be sending it out.

    • They're pretty useless with this info. I ordered 2 kits in early January. The first one arrived in about 3 days. The second one vanished off the face of the earth, took about 5-6 phone calls over 4 weeks to finally get it delivered. Good luck.

  • Gee, I can't even use up my 80G.

  • +3

those who want to buy/bought sim from sources other than online, just go and talk to them in chat. They are providing reference number to claim extra 40GB once you activate sim from other source. Enjoy.

  • Anyone who has ported unable to receive 2FA and codes from PayPal?

I ported from circles life and SMS from PayPal no longer work. I can send and receive SMS to/from other sources

  • +1

    According to CSR

''Upon confirming to my manager even if you purchased a $2 sim kit at any store once you recharge $150 on your service you will still get the 40GB bonus data.''

    • Nice. Keep that email.

    • I hope so - i bought the sim kit from Coles but they were out of Boost sim cards. So i bought an extra starter pack. Realised later all the boost sim cards had short expiry or had already expired and tried to get a new sim from Boost without success.

Still have the voucher waiting to go, need to go buy another sim =/

    • -2

Nope. $2 sims won't get 40gb, only 20gb 'goodwill'. Confirmed.

      • If you let them know that you were told by their colleague 40gb bonus was still eligible, they'll ask for proof and you can copy paste transcript. 9 times out of 10 would work if not then try again with another csr.
Can also say wanted the SIM straight away and this was the only way due to no $150 sim stock in-store and their delays in shipping, therefore was told still eligible.

They chat like they're speaking the truth using 'honestly' we're not doing that bs

When you get someone that say can do it make sure they give you reference number

        • Tried many times they flatly refused to add 40GB to a recharge.

          • @Fullhalter: You need to try harder. If anyone has issues getting bonus I can send transcript of chat. Of all the times I've asked about it they've honoured the bonus.

  • hi, do i have to buy through boost or can be from anywhere

    • +1

      Anywhere

  • Any issue porting from amaysim to boost?

  • Should I initiate a port from kogan to boost. My prepaid kogan expires in 2 days so very worried about the porting issue. Has it been fixed?

    • +1

Not yet, it's still up in limbo at the moment.

Could always just recharge an extra month, or activate another sim for the time being.

      • Live chat just told me:
"and yes there is a slight delay on the porting process coming from Kogan.
as there is a problem on there network trasnfer. it will be 2 to 3 days depending on how many days the kogan can fix their issues. "

Since this has been ongoing for months, I have my doubts.

        • My fiancee's phone actually ported over this morning finally so it looks like it's all resolved! (for now…)

    • Mine too just Now. :) From Voda to Boost.

      • Same! :)
Started the port from Kogan to Boost at 1:30pm on Tuesday, and just ported over now.

    • +1

I ported last week. Failed the first few times. Finally I just selected postpaid and entered the Kogan account number (had to check my welcome email from Kogan from years ago) and it worked. Ported within 5 minutes.

    • I put in a request to port out from Kogan to Boost on Thursday morning and my Boost service was up and running at around 9pm on the same day

  • I am a current boost customer.Wanted to know if I would get 120G on my first recharge.
Tried their live chat and their bot kept giving me pre allocated answers but not answering my question.
Phoned them and was told no , you are a current customer no deals for you , told them goodbye, see you in another year when I'm a new customer again.

What 12 month plan would others recommend now?

    • +1

Port out and port in, what's big deal..get a 2$ Sim.

      • Think I might change to Optus $150 for 120 gig/ 12 months, new customers only , must activate before 4/20.
Can also add data roaming for $20 / 10 gig lasting 14 days.
As usual telcos only want new customers not necessarily keeping their old customers that can go through the hassle of switching.

        • I think I have a telstra $2 sim lying around from when I purchased my phone. Transfer to them and back would that do it.

    • woolworths mobile have 84gb for $150 no international calls though
      https://mobile.woolworths.com.au/Shop/Plans/Woolworths-Phone…

  • activated less than a week ago. tried chat. No dice on added bonus. oh well. don't use much anyway

  • +9

Didn't get the additional bonus even when you activated before the deal was made?

Signs and symptoms of narcissistic personality disorder and the severity of symptoms vary. People with the disorder can: Have an exaggerated sense of self-importance. Have a sense of entitlement and require constant, excessive admiration.

People with this type of entitlement are the most likely, as the term suggests, to explode when people don't bow to their wishes. The entitled in our midst who feel that they deserve special treatment when they've done nothing special can make life difficult for those around them

  • +1

    Matching a current Optus deal

  • Has anyone ported out from Boost to Pennytel(on their recent free 1st month deal) and then back to Boost on the 40GB Bonus deal?
If yes how long did the entire port-in/port-out take?

  • +1

On the home page https://boost.com.au/ it states this deal also has DATA ROLLOVER. Keep a screen shot.

    • Gimme gimme :D

    • +3

Only data rollover on the monthly packages.
See their fine print terms and conditions.
Cannot roll over from the year before, just month to month.

    • +3

I took the screenshot re: data rollover. Spoke to Boost. They said it was for the 28 day plans only. I said you've got it attached to the 12 month sim ad. They wouldn't budge. Spoke to the TIO, and they asked me to send it through to the ACCC. I did. We'll see what happens. :)

  • I'm going nuts, but how do you log into boost to check data usage, expiry etc? Website has no 'login' buttons. Am I forced to download app?

    • Only Boost App can check your data balance. It is not convenient.

    • +1

You can check it on this website: https://care.boost.com.au/, but you must use Boost's mobile connection (from the phone or hotspot) and not Wi-Fi. I think their app basically shows you that website.

      • I'm guessing then that there is no way to monitor 2 services? Eg keep an eye on two different numbers?

        • +1

Nope, you need to check each device individually.

        • And from the device’s connection.

    • 111*2

Dial above from your boost mobile Sim on phone

We're experiencing some technical difficulties completing your activation, but we're working on it. Please try again later, or contact 24x7 Chat

    anyone getting this issue?

    • +2

I activated two sims on Tuesday. Got this message for both of them. But tried again after a few minutes and it went through OK. Doesn't leave me much confidence in their systems.

    • I've been waiting since Saturday to port from Lebara (Vodafone network) to Boost. It went through this morning. Don't know if that means the porting issue between Vodafone and Telstra is resolved fully or not. I also got the 40GB bonus data. I bought the Boost SIM through ebay in December, so buying the SIM online through Boost to avail of the offer isn't necessary.

      • Was it the $150 sim or just a single sim

  • Hi I just transferred yesterday from Catchconnect to Boost. Looks like I'm having some issues receiving calls from Voda & Optus. Has anyone had similar issues?

    • +1

Porting away form Catch Connect is still an ongoing nightmare. Over 3 weeks now.

      • Not ported over yet? I'm having issues after they tell me I'm ported.

        • For 2 weeks the old Catch Connect Sim was active. In the 3rd week Optus finally ported - but I could only receive sms and calls, couldn't make any outbound calls. I can now send sms but still can't call - requested port on 14th of January.
Lodged an ombudsman report they have until the 26th to resolve it but I think it's unfair that I still can't call people on my normal mobile number.

          • @blueyez: Wow that's horrible i hope it gets sorted

      • Ours just took a few hours last week

  • Hi all, just an update that it looks like Kogan/Voda ports are working now/slowly going through.

And also I bought the $150 sim card from officeworks back in January and have the bonus 40GB of data.

  • +1

Website error, can't activate sim online. Not a good start from Boost.

  • i got a 150 sim kit from officeworks glebe this morning… by the way they had lots more so if in sydney try there as most officeworks wont have them in sydney anyways..
online activation done but no email… rang and done over phone and lucky i did as she said there was no record of my online activation or port request…

edit… i also had screen show when doing online activation that extra 40gb like others had said … i asked girl on phone and she said yes store sims will get extra bonus also….

    • Did you price beat with any other seller’s price with OW?

      • I was not bothered to look up if i coulda saved couple dollars and i didnt have time as i was late for work.. was happy to get a sim and get extra data as all retailers near home an work had no stock

      • +5

I got 2 Sims for $135 each using enjoyebuy at Officeworks

        • OW in Nth Ryde, NSW, had 25 $150 packs at 11.30 AM today and price match with enjoyebuy.

  • Message best deal plaza and anyone who order a new sim with them will get this deal as well.

  • I am current with BOOST, I have bought a recharge voucher, but i have not used it. I realise its not for recharge deals, but it was was to port out then port back in with a $0 sim credit, then recharge with the voucher. I wonder if I would get it? Thoughts?

  • +1

    Kogan to Boost here.

Couldn't find the $150 SIM at Kmart yesterday so bought $2 sim and $150 recharge voucher.

Customer service advised via chat 'The $150 sim kit with bonus data is for online sim only. But as one time courtesy, we will be applying the bonus 40GB on it once activated and once the $150 voucher has been applied."

Waiting for the port to occur…

    • Took approximately 12 hours to port.

    • Good to know. I bought the $150 deal at Coles but the sim cards they gave me didn't work so now need to buy a new sim to activate existing $150 voucher!

  • Has anyone tried porting from Kogan > Optus/Catch/Amaysim etc?
Just wondering if I can circumvent the possible delays from Kogan > Boost by instead porting through Kogan > Optus > Boost…

    • If it makes you feel any better, some of the Vodafone/Kogan users have been ported over OK, hopefully they've worked out the bugs. My Kogan > Boost port took 2 business days.

    • I came from Kogan for 2 years, it took me 5 minutes to port over to Boost. This was a month ago

  • Does the bonus come up straight away or we need to wait?

    • I just ported in and got the full 120GB straight away. I purchased my SIM back in January and have been waiting for my existing plan with CatchConnect to expire.

God knows what I'm going to do with 120GB, I still had 7GB of my 42GB left after a year.

  • Hi guys, so I finally got onto the online chat thanks to some helpful Ozbargainers' tips yesterday (thanks!). However, I keep getting SIMO the virtual assistant. Sounds like lots of posters are getting actual human reps.

When I ask for a human rep, SIMO asks for my number so a rep can call me. Any way for a virtual chat instead?

    • +3

Hey Sploots. When you get SIMO just send the message “consultant” and he’ll eventually put you on to someone. If he asks for a number just say “no”
