Bought the 1200mm only last week for full price. Must fish out the receipt and claim back my $9.

Quite good for the odd jobs around the house. The black areas are made of rubber, so when holding against a wall, its easy to keep in place.

The long edge is metal so good for drawing straight lines or using as a guide for cutting with a blade.

Overall, pretty damn cheap for what you get.

      That's the spirit! ;)

This is wrong on so many levels

        • He is so crooked.

    • I did the same— been wanting to have one and grabbed it 23 Feb. Do they refund on price drops or do you have to return and then re-buy?

    Spirit level…pfft!

Woo-woo garbage, buy a science level instead!

  • Phasing out my Aldi levels so this will fit in well.
Used the Aldi ones for years, the finally checked one.
Checked a level and marked it, spun the level left to right, checked again and it was off my a couple of mms.
easy test, should have done that a lot earlier
Might be due to bumps around the house but still, doing plenty of renos at the moment and a decent level is required.

Off the shelf some need to be calibrated.. easy to do…
      https://www.leveldevelopments.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/docu…

      • Nice, didn't know they were able to be calibrated.
        Thanks mate

        • Not all can be. Many (most?) of the cheaper ones have fixed vials.

          • @banana365: Yep, got one today from Bunnings Erina.
A store rep had to get one out of the box as the shelf was empty.

I was chatting and after previous comments just above I mentioned these are adjustable?
He had a look around the level and couldn't see anything.
Another builder-looking-dude jumped into the conversation and said that's only on the high end levels.
I said "So not on my aldi set"
            They both just laughed :D

      • Good luck with this on a fixed vial level.

Yeah I did tnat in the Aldi store. Didn't buy it…

What was that stock checker website for bunnings again…?

Ahhh Craftright, the Daewoo Nubira of spirit levels.

    • That makes no sense.

        Cheap but does the job?

    • Laughed a drink through my nose because of this comparison. Well played.

I have the same one. It's a solid unit (not that I have anything to compare it to). I left mine outside so now the liquid in the bubble level has gone clear. Still works but a little harder to read.

  • My main lengthy level is the Stanley one, made of plastic. Would a generic but metal one be considered an upgrade?

Thanks OP, got the long and short ones. Short one is handy for tool box :)

    • +1

I have a short one in my tool box too, ahem :)

      I have a 1200mm and 230mm already so I think I might get the 600mm one.

    • Don't think the short one is worth paying for honestly. I got one free with a Craftright tool bag but thought you could do a lot better for $3 (a simple measuring edge for example)

  • Heading with my ID to the store that has Easter all year round. Spirit? Yeah I am 18 plus! Thanks OP!

If you're worried about it not being perfectly level. Stick it on top of a better quality one in store to see if it reads the same.
I tested a couple a year or so ago till I found one that was bang on with a flash Stanley one.

    • I would still check the level on its own. You would be surprised at the amout of levels even Stabila that are out of level straight from the store.

Perfect! Just when my spirit needs some leveling

Make sure to ask for a couple of extra spirit level bubbles just in case. They're always happy to give a couple of free ones out when you buy a new level.

  • Aren’t the Aldi ones magnetic?

    • The catalogue doesn't say but I'd guess not.

      • Dang. I swear last years were…

This deal is pretty straight forward

    • Your comment is on level

  • Any deals on spirit level bubbles?

    • Did your boss send you? I bet he asked for a left handed screwdriver and some elbow grease too?

  • What a coincidence…
I needed a level on site last night (couldn't be bothered walking to the truck) and my mechanical subby was using one so I borrowed his and noticed it was a craftright, I chuckled to myself but was somewhat impressed at the build quality compared to my Empire ones.

However after seeing this deal, I wanted to buy some as spare beat arounds for my boys however my mechanical guy just said to me the bubble is out and I just tested his and it is definitely slightly out.

Probably alright as a straight edge and rough usage but not for works regarding accuracy.

    Great price.

  • Thx OP, got one. I do need this for some occasional timber work. Cheers!

  • Good timing, since I need a longer one for some carpentry work I plan to do in the coming months.

  • Thanks OP. For the price on the 1200mm can't go wrong.

  • Grabbed the last remaining 600mm and 230mm levels from Manly West shelves. Plenty of 1200mm ones available.
Call ahead in case they do have extra stock remaining :D

  • Still stock remaining of 600mm and 1200mm at Nunawading. About a half doz or each.

  • Bought this last December full price. Only got to use it yesterday to hang a picture frame on the wall. The rubber edges really helped protect the plaster on the wall and didn't leave any markings.

Does Bunnings accept refunds for purchases made more than 30 days ago?

    • Yes

  • A weak question, what is the different between this one and those like $50 or even $100+, please?

    • I think this is for diy/occasional users, expensive ones for frequent users/professionals who can claim in tax as well. Usually expensive is better quality, but not always.

  • +1

I’m retired now but used to work for a company that sold “professional/Trade levels at up to $130, we regularly had anything up to 30% of them returned for inaccuracy. One guy wanted to sue us because he had built a structure that wasn’t quite right, (no he didn’t win) it’s the responsibility of the buyer to test it, quite an easy task. They were guaranteed for life so very open to all manner of abuse.

    • wanted to sue
      no he didn’t win

So he did sue or he didn't sue?
