Wouldn’t there be a hygiene issue with factory seconds as you don’t know where it’s been.

      Huh?
Factory seconds would just mean its not as "PERFECT" of a production as it should be…
There should be quality control over those things and if something isn't A++ - its removed and placed elsewhere.

        Thank You

        • I gotchuu b :P

Great prices on all of the Factory Seconds in your store

if only I wasn't so god damn sweaty just by idling around, would've bought a whole bunch.

          • @The Milk Man: Thank you, appreciate your feedback!

Hi, They come straight from factory, no-one has used them, they got slight imperfections such as missed stitch, twisted binding,
      Thank you

      • Oh ok thanks for clarifying. Did not know.

        • No worries, Thank You

    FACTORY SECOND meaning what?

Factory seconds would just mean its not as "PERFECT" of a production as it should be…
There should be quality control over those things and if something isn't A++ - its removed and placed elsewhere.

@Seqwool thx for the definition, but i belive customers want to hear this from the seller, and without the words "would just mean", it sounded uncertain.

From what i have heard, some FACTORY SECOND could also be returned produces, is that true?

    • Hi,
Factory second quilts are not customer return items. They got minor faults during manufacturing process & couldn't be sold in departmental stores.
      Thank You

usually in the textile industry, QC will send the "missed stitch, twisted binding" items back for a easy fix and it will be "sold in departmental stores" as brand new.
only those made their way to the shelf, bought, and returned becoz of some minor faults will listed as "Factory second".

Great to hear Tontine do things differently…

  • Got one of these last time they were offered, it's really good and wasn't a customer return. Just had dodgy stitching, but you can't see than when there's a cover on it.

just curious, how u so sure it wasn't a customer return ? plz don't get mad, im not judging u, just curious.

if im the manager of the factory,
my QC found some quilts with dodgy stitching, i will send them back to the production line to fix it instead of pass them to another company and sale it as factory second.

And once again im happy to hear Tontine do things differently.

    • Seconding this, I bought one in the previous deal and it was definitely brand new and kept me toasty last winter.

    from wikipedia

Factory seconds, also known as factory rejects or simply seconds, are retail items which, through minor fault of manufacture, are sold to the public for a reduced rate, rather than being discarded. Such goods are often resold at this lower rate after failing the factory's quality inspection, being returned to the manufacturer's factory by the original retailer, or (less frequently) being returned to the retailer or wholesaler by the customer.

so usually yes, "factory seconds" is the item returned by either retailer or customer when a fault was found.
also usually retailer wouldn't care if there are any faults, so most likely is the customer found the fault and return it.

Im not saying this is the case for Tontine, and im happy to hear they do things differently, neg me as many as u like.

  • There's no retail packaging so how would you know that you receive the right version.
They have 5 other listings similar to this. eg. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Tontine-FACTORY-SECOND-Winter-Hi…

    • Hi, care label states it is Luxe Winter Wool, Thank You
