  • ah shit. I take the train + tram (myki pass) and only take the tram inside the city. I've always been a believer in not touching on/off because a) it's free anyway and b) it slows down other passengers

    but $9 is $9

  • Sydney Trains needs to have this compensation scheme… Not even kidding reliability is probably a generous 37% and arriving on time 3%.

I may be wrong but I think its due to Yarra Trams and the Metro being privatised, therefore the operators are given targets to meet. Same thing happens on Londons over ground trains.

Sydneys trains are all government run. They wont be paying out any compensation unless someone makes them do it

Arseholes, nothing as usual for myki money users. And no automation for these claims either. Can only blame successive incompetent and callous state governments for not setting a higher bar for service from these operators.

Our performance targets are… 82% for punctuality

Aiming big these guys, aren't they?

And, the deal? We provided a poor service for a month, so if you endured our poor service for more than 10 days, here's a free ticket for one day to experience our poor service again.

    • And we're only giving it to some of you

  • Oh jeez those idiots at yarra trams are at it again

Makes me (profanity) angry everytime I see this "compensation" bullshit. But I don't know what makes me more pissed their "compensation" or their targets.

  • The scope for those that are eligible for compensation is becoming smaller and smaller. You used to be able to claim this as a regular Myki user, regardless of holding a "pass", so long as you travelled on those lines. I want to downvote this because of how awful Yarra Trams (and Metro) are, but I really hope that as many eligible people as possible claim this.

It's becoming increasingly frustrating that their performance is getting worse, but they're not being accountable because they're reducing the amount of people they give compensation to greatly.

To be fair, if nearly 20% of the trams were not on time or not running, shouldn’t they compensate 29 days * 18% = approx 5 days worth of payments?

  • We can blame Yarra Trams for the performance.
We can't blame them for the compensation; that is what the government agreed to in their contract.

  • It's complete bullshit. They know exactly who and when someones touched on because our Myki's are registered. Their systems allow our Myki's to be recharged online. There's zero reason at all why the compensation cannot be extended to myki money users and even be automatically compensated to the people who have traveled between those dates.
(profanity) Metro. I travel on the train to work everyday I have to deal with late trains all the time and they tell me I'm not eligible for compensation because I dont have a pass? (profanity) bullshit.
