R5-1600 AF RX 580 Budget Gaming PC [B450]: $588 + Delivery @ TechFast

820
1600AF-580-B450-MAR

Return of the Ryzen 5 1600 AF / RX 580 budget gaming PC from TechFast, this time with bundled B450 motherboard.

Rep Luke has said and we all know prices have risen from previous deals, but using PC Part Picker to compare the deal it still stacks up to what you pay to build it yourself (the R5 1600 is showing $220+ there, so this build uses R3-2200G which is around same price as PCCaseGear are selling the R5-1600 AF). Plus this still works out $20 cheaper than the previous deal plus the B450 motherboard upgrade.

Limited to 20 units. Enjoy :)

Ryzen 5 1600 AF / RX 580 8GB Budget Gaming PC

  • Ryzen 5 1600 AF (6 core/12 thread processor)

  • Biostar RX 580 8GB

  • AMD B450 motherboard

  • 8GB 2666MHz RAM

  • 120GB SSD

  • 550W PSU

  • Leaper Flair RGB or Mid case

Thanks BA! Reminder to all following our deals we're moving to limited runs in the current environment, so this deal is also subject to selling out at any time:
    Ryzen 5 3600 / GTX 1070: $917

  • this is a nice deal, but do i miss a promotion code or sth? coz it shows 799 to me.

    • +1

It's at the top of this deal: 1600AF-580-B450-MAR

  • Hi Luke,
    Thanks for your amazing deals.
I know im a little bit annoying (due to moving situation), but still waiting for your email reply for my cpu option. I also called, but due to corona virus the call centers are closed. Thanks mate 😁👌

    • +1

Will reply as soon as I can. Thanks.

    Recommended upgrades?

    • +4

A second stick of memory at the very least, for 16gb total in dual channel.
Other then that maybe a bigger ssd/hdd depending on your needs.
Everything else is pretty solid for the price.
A 500-600w bronze and/or gold option PSU would be a nice option, sadly there isn't such option, and the 750w PSU is complete overkill for this kind of system.

      • thank you!

      • Cheaper to just buy the extra stick from MSY?

        • +1

Just keep in mind that mixing different sticks of memory is never a good idea, compatibility is never guaranteed, as long as you can get an identical stick there shouldn't be any issues though.

  • here's the PCPP link for the 1600 AF: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/8HqBD3/amd-ryzen-5-1600-…
you just have to manually go to that page and click "add" on the left, as it doesn't show up in the CPU search for whatever reason

  • Rep, can you confirm that the MSI Mortar B450M $59.00 is this one https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B450M-MORTAR-MAX
Also what is the stock B450M motherboard - Gigabyte or Biostar ?

    • Oops

    • Either Max or Titanium for upgrade. Will depend entirely on availability. Stock B450 may vary between MSI/Giga/other, but will not be Biostar.

      • Will they also vary between 2 and 4 DIMM slots ? I was interested in a 4x slots for future memory upgrade, would it be best to upgrade for Mortar?

      • Sent you a PM 🙂

  • Rep is there any expedited build and shipping available to ship this to Sydney CBD within 5 days?

    • Unfortunately not.

    • +1

It'd be great if you could substantiate your claims :)

        • +16

They literally offered you 3 options: They will honour the original order at the original price, they just have to wait for stock to arrive. Or you can upgrade to a more expensive CPU with a liquid cooler for extra (totally reasonable!) or use what you've paid towards an AMD system - another totally viable option.
I don't really understand how they could give better customer service to be honest. They're doing the best they can and being totally upfront about the situation.
I don't usually post many comments but your ignorance rustled my jimmies.

    • +3

Maybe give a bit more evidence mate. I've been following their posts for quite some time and most customers seem happy with them.

      • Evidence good?

        • +2

Evidence shows an extremely good customer service working in difficult circumstances to provide options.

If this was another big company they would probably not even tell you what was happening

Happy to explain. The original buy price of the 9700F was nice and low. Due to coronavirus related delays, which are affecting ever single person's daily lives, they are currently unavailable. The 9700KF is being offered as an alternative. Due to increased demand and limited supply of these, distributors are jacking prices. The 9700KF is being offered at our cost, no more, no profit. We are not in a position to offer it below cost. We don't buy from online stores, we buy from our distributors, who offer credit terms, delivery guarantees, support relationships, etc. That's the scenario. In no way are we profiting from this, whatsoever.

  • Hello, am interested in purchasing a system, but would be looking at throwing in the HDDs from my current PC. Would anyone be able to comment on how easy this would be? I've put together a PC before so I know what I'm doing, I'm more after comments on like, how cable management is and if it's a pain to wire in an additional HDD. Any help is appreciated!

    • +2

The case that comes with this build has some space to mount a couple of extra hard drives and solid state drives, and the motherboard should support at least another 3 drives in total (up to 5 depending on which motherboard you receive). Cable management isn't overly achievable with the Leaper Flair case. Personally, I replaced the case with something that could hold a few more drives. If you're on a tight budget, but want a case that will support extra hard drives, take a look at the 'Deepcool Tesseract'. You can pick them up for around $49, and not only will it be easier to work in, but the cooling capacity will be much better. I went with the Lian Li Lancool 2, which is about $100 more expensive than the Deepcool case, but has some amazing cable management features for the price.

      • Appreciate that mate, thanks very much for the run down.

  • Looking at either replacing in whole, or upgrading my existing old desktop, and was wondering if I would see all that much of an improvement if I upgraded to this deal.

I currently have a way old Intel Core i5-2500K, Asus P8Z68-V LE motherboard, DIMM DDR3 1333 MHz, Samsung 850 Evo 500GB, and some embarrassingly old GFX card (Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT). I'm not a big gamer - maybe play a bit of TF2 which runs fine on this setup, but mainly use it for coding, running a VM every now and then, etc.

Should I keep my existing motherboard & CPU and add some extra memory and a GFX card, or replace the whole thing? Evaluating bang for buck.

    • i wouldn't be spending any money on DDR3 or a GFX for that system.. its slow as for 2020, i would at least get a new

If you want to go cheap get a Dell Optiplex 9020 with a i5-4570 for $250 on ebay.. add a GTX1050 and that Samsung SSD and your set. it also comes with 4 ram slots :) so u can also use you old ram with the dell ram.

Otherwise get a new Ryzen 5 3600 with MSI B450 MAX board 16GB DDR4 3200Mhz and video card. maybe RX470 second hand of something better if you have the money

    • +2

have you got an aftermarket cooler for that CPU? if not, grab a decent one and clock it up to 4.3/4.4ghz (the last 2500K system I had i had comfortably at 4.4ghz on about 1.2v from memory). and grab a cheap RX470/480/570/580 from FB Marketplace or Gumtree and slap it in. Maybe another 8gb of RAM.

sandy bridge still holds up today especially for mild/moderatae usage.

      • This.

Snowman T4 cooler then overclock the K processor. https://youtu.be/ekm9ekqW5Sg
Upgrade to 16GB in Dual Channel.
        2nd hand RX580 8GB for like $180ish.

  • +1

Bought the Ryzen 5 1600 AF / RX 580 8GB deal a few weeks ago.

Took around 2.5 weeks for built and delivery.
    Very happy with the product.

    Many thanks !

    • Thanks for the review, enjoy!

My system is on the way, can’t wait for it to be delivered (hopefully tomorrow)…
Anyone care to share a real life photo of the RGB Leaper Flair case ?

Here's some photos of my unboxing a few weeks back.

        • Cheers

        • Thanks @goose25 for the photos. It looks great!

Just wondering, have you experienced any overheating issue with the leaper flair case so far? Also curious what was the brand for the RAMs.

          Cheers!

          • +1

@ugut2you: My apologies for the slow reply. I didn't see your message until now. I ended up swapping out the components into a new case after a few days (before even using the PC as it arrived, so can't really comment on how well it kept everything cool. The case came with a 120mm intake and an 80mm exhaust fan, however the passages for airflow seemed rather restrictive. The only component that overheated for me was the graphics card, which I sold soon after and purchased the same model (1660 super) with a better cooler.

The ram is "Team" Branded. Here is a link to the ram I received.

            • @goose25: Thanks for your reply @goose25. Guess I'll have to test it out for myself. Still waiting for it to arrive :)

              • @ugut2you: Hopefully it arrives soon! The waiting is the hardest part.

My personal thoughts after receiving my build were, that while it represented excellent value as a package, being somewhat knowledgeable in computer equipment, I wouldn't go down the route of a pre-build again. Currently the only original components left from my Techfast build are the CPU and ram. The motherboard, CPU cooler, case, storage drive, power supply and graphics card have all been swapped out for higher quality parts, which essentially has put me at as point where I've spent much more for a worse build.

If I was in the position where I had no experience building a PC, and just wanted something that was set-up to install some games and play them straight away, then the Techfast build would have been perfect.

If you have any more questions before your PC arrives, feel free to ask.

              • @ugut2you: Have you received the PC already? Still waiting on mine. What are your thoughts on the Pc and how is the airflow and overall performance of the case.

                • @Hilldan: Nope still waiting on it. Mine was ordered on the 23rd of March. Only 1 more week to go I hope :D

  • Upgraded GPU to RX570 lasr year but a bottleneck i5-3570k (OC to 4.4ghz) and 8GB DDR3-1600.

I’ve been thinking to upgrade the CPU (Ryzen 1600) + Mobo + Ram.
Not sure if I get the most bang for the buck by upgrading or this bundle from techfast.

    Any advice ?

    • An RX570 won't bottleneck an OC'ed 3570K.

      • What about an RX580 with a i5-7500?

        • Would also be fine.

  • Is this a good deal? I need a budget PC that gives me good performance for Dota 2 and Overwatch. Also can I play all the new titles on medium/low settings on this?

    • Yes and yes.

  • Hello, what are the differences between the Leaper Flair RGB and Leaper Mid case?

    • +1

Flair is larger - spec sheets of the two cases are in the pic gallery on the item page (or click here for Flair and here for Mid specs)

      • cool thank you, happen to have found the specs just before you posted :)

  • Hi, why is the price $799 instead of $588?

    • Apply code 1600AF-580-B450-MAR at checkout to reduce the base price before upgrades and shipping to $588

  • Luke I have been trying to buy it using ZipPAy and getting an error. or not loading.

  • Hey luke,

I made an order on 29/Feb for a 3500x/2070 system. The support told it'd be shipped out late this week. I unfortunately haven't received any kind of notification via email that the order has been shipped following the end of the week.

Could you please get in touch with me if possible? #TECHFAST58992631

    Cheers,

    • I've just caught up on where it's at and seen your email that it's ok to ship with one RGB fan, so I will get that sorted for you now.

      • ok, thanks a lot. When can I expect the system to be shipped?

  • Luke, need a $1500-1800 type new deal. Gonna get quarantined soon!!

  • Thanks for this deal Luke. I ordered today. Please can you help with the following:

    1. What is the ETA for delivery to WA (Metro)?
    2. its for my son - he said it'll run fortnite at 144fps as long as we get a 144hz monitor. Is this correct?

    Thanks

  • darn was just signing up to buy it
