I want this phone, but it has such bad video quality in reviews.
Everyone seems to praise Samsungs stability, but I think they're ignoring the HUGE artifacting it creates.
    FRUSTRATING!

  • +1

    Qualcomm Snapdragon 855. Nice!

    • +1

yes, a lot better than s10s with samsung exynos chips

      • Curious; when did they switch?

I know back in the note3\4 days the exynos chip was WORLDS better.

        • missed those times, samsung could have been a chip leader but then apple with their a series chips especially the 'a11' chip in iPhone x and 8, that achieve 10k multicore score vs 6k on s8 that really excel and it took snapdragon 1.5 years to even catch up, whilst exynos was barely managing to keep up with snapdragon lost its competitiveness.

Really hope exynos becomes WORLD better again, like samsung, doesn't overheat unlike others. Not sure if lg and sony fixed their overheating issues, if not might stay with samsung regardless unless apple make another ground breaking chip like the a11, but i think it already has with the a12x in the iPad pro.

          • @[Deactivated]: Thats a common issue people overlook.

A chip at 75% power, with 0% throttling, is faster than a chip at 100% power, but halves 50% of the time.

Heat is a stupid thing to overlook.

Phones and AMD gpu's; heat is not OK.

            • @MasterScythe: i personal have never used an iPhone before, only android, so not sure about if iPhones over heat, but so far using samsung devices, never experienced overheating for normal usage. However I have heard that even though apple devices are better performance, the performance is only a marketing gimmick as the phone will just overheat if use 100% and will just throttle. But for sd and samsung chips they are better at mainitnign high performance without throttling

    5G ram? Not 4 not 6?

    Any good with photo?

    • +2

      5G not 4G connection…
      6GB ram

      • -2

So title should be 5G, 6GB Ram, 128GB storage.

        • +3

It's in the first line of the description, in bold. Hard to miss

        • Updated Title to avoid confusion.

          • @RichardL: Photo any good? Friend ask me about A51 for $500 imported stock. Seem this is better a bit more.

            • @superforever: Don't own the phone, so can't comment on the quality of the image.

But here's a spec comparison between the A50 and A90 from GSM Arena

This would be a significantly better buy than the A50 Import Stock (Only $80 more for local stock and a superior model).

              • @RichardL: Sorry I mean A51 vs A90

                A51 not available locally yet.

                • +1

@superforever: If you're just after Camera Quality, the A51 might be better has it has Quad Camera (Wide, Ultrawide, Macro & Depth).

But imo, specs wise the A90 is better.

  • Thanks OP!

  • So do i need to pay extra for 5G or should it work on my current 4g sim?

    • +1

      5G Phones are backward Compatitable.

    • Won't need to upgrade your sim but might have to upgrade your plan depending on who you're with.

  • 206 grams

    just saying

    • saying what? ;p

      • Even heavier than TCL Plex XD

  • This or the Xiaomi Note 9S

    • +2

In my opinion, the Samsung Galaxy A90.

      The Samsung Galaxy A90:

      • AU Stock
      • Has NFC (Xiaomi doesn't have)
      • 5G Connection
      • AMOLED Display (Xiaomi has IPS LCD)
      • Gorilla Glass 6 (Xiaomi has Gorilla Glass 5)
      • Qualcomm SM8150 Snapdragon 855 (Xiaomi has Qualcomm SM7125 Snapdragon 720G)

      GSM Arena Comparision

      • Beautiful. I'll grab this then!

  • should wait for Nokia 8.3 5G

    • Which will most likely be double the price of this phone, based on News Article:

      The Nokia 8.3 5G starts at just €599 (~AU $1100) for the 6/64GB model, with an 8/128GB variant also available for €649 (~AU $1190)

  • very nice perfomence phone!

  • read the reviews. i would stay away from this one

  • +2

    Wish it had wireless charging!

  • This or the a71? Hmmm. Missed the Mi 9T on sale because I deliberated, seems to be very mobile deals right now :(

  • What is tethering speed using 5G like on this phone?

  • +2

Bought this phone about a month ago, coming from an s10+

Honestly, I can almost not tell the difference between the two.

Super quick, screen is great, camera is great.
Currently I receive 5g service where I live and it's super fast. Battery life so far is very good also.

This phone for this price, is a very good deal.

    • I have to disagree, if you value the quality of photos or videos, please consider other phones.

It’s really tempting! Just wanna ask that since it’s Telstra unlocked, does it have any Telstra branding or pre-installed app in it?

    Cheers

    • +1

I'm on Telstra with the Telstra unlocked A90.
I thought it had the Telstra splash screen during boot, but nah, doesn't have it. I just restarted my phone to check.
It might have come with the MyTelstra app, but this can be easily uninstalled - no other bloat, no Foxtel etc.

  • No headphone jack.
