  • Thanks OP!

    Is this water free? Thanks

    • +1

      no, hand wash with water.

  • Thanks, OP.

  • Thanks

  • +2

I dont have one of these.. cant u use normal soap in these things?

    • There’s a you tube video in how to refill such bottles and I have tested it recently, no issues with refilled bottles.

      • cool.. then this is not value for money then.. as usual dettol soap or other soap can be had for cheaper

    • +2

Yeah, flatblade screwdriver pop the lid off, fill it up, pop it back on.

      • Or if you can't be bothered doing that every time you, just cut the top open on one side and lift up to re-fill.

      • This. Been doing this for the past few years, refill with Woolies Homebrand hand wash refill.

      • We just use a butter knife

  • +4

Anyone with the dispenser already shouldn't be buying more of these anyway and refilling their existing bottles.

    • Umm refilling with what ?

      • I’ve purchased the wash - now to work out what it goes in to dispense it! 🤣

      • +1

        Toilet paper

        • …replacement

      • Well any OzBargainer should have a few spare bottles of handwash soap refills even before any of this virus stuff ;)

    • +3

I usually refill these but I might have a better luck finding a bigfoot

  • +6

$20 for 1L of refill? You're paying for some really expensive plastic bottles.

    • +5

In this environment, common sense goes out the window.

  • Are these alcohol based? Can they kill covid-19?

    • +11

Hand wash doesn't need to be alcohol based. Almost any regular soap will break down the fatty membrane of the coronavirus & kill it, so long as you wash your hands for 20-30 seconds & rinse properly.

      • -1

But is that true? Seems to be varying opinions on this, do most hand washes or soap kill the Covid-19 or do they just detach it from the surface and it gets rinsed down the drain? To kill it you need something that's chlorine based or 70% alcohol. Anti-bacterial will do nothing. Just use soap and water, 20 seconds, that will detach any virus from you hands and wash it away.

A virus is not a living thing. Something that does not live cannot be killed. Therefore, a claim like "kill it" in a casual comment can be interpreted to mean deactivating the outer shell and washing off the viral RNA.

          • @twocsies:

A virus is not a living thing

I thought this for years, but in recent times it is being debated and not as clear. https://www.newscientist.com/question/are-viruses-alive/

            • @PainToad: Lol, that link looks unreliable. To put it simply a Virus has an outer fatty lipid layer with genetic components inside of it.

It doesn't have any limbs or mouth to invest anything, nor does it have a brain.

Think of a virus as a sequence of one's and zero's inside a very tiny USB. Our cells have certain USB ports that allows it to connect.

              • @nobro25: Lol, new scientist unreliable, seriously? What exactly in the article is unreliable?

            • +1

@PainToad: It's the Pluto of living things.

        • +1

They do both. All viruses have a fatty outer layer, detergent (which soap is) breaks this down (just like you use washing detergent to clean your frying pan, it breaks down the fatty layer (put water in an oily frying pan, watch the oil float together on top. Then drop in some dishwashing liquid, watch the oil break up).

But soap also loosens objects from your skin by making it slippery. Hence the 30s washing under water.

Also soap (of you wash properly) removes dirt, germs (both viruses & bacteria), where as hand sanitiser just kills many (not all) bugs, it's not so effective against bacteria and also there's a few nasty tummy bugs it doesn't kill.

          When looking for factual info, check out cdc.gov & who.int & health.gov.au

Also the ABC's CoronaCast podcast is a really good source of factual information. 10mins every week day.

    • +1

Not alcohol based, it's just regular liquid hand soap which you scrub your hand with water.

      • Apologies, asking about the wipes. Know about the hand wash already.

        • +1

The main ingredient of the wipes is:

          Benzalknoium Chloride 0.24%

And like all antibacterial soaps and non alcohol based hand sanitising products Benzalknoium Chloride is not as effective as Alcohol (of at least 60%)at killing COVID 19.

However, it is effective against many bacteria and has been shown to be effective against strains of the influenza virus.

  • The floor wipes are expensive. Coles brand is $6 for 24. These same price but only 15 wipes?

  • +3

    Ozbargained

  • Cannot seem to add to cart no matter what I try.

  • Anyone know where to get the dispenser? Mine recently stopped working

    • +1

We use it with a generic dispenser - https://www.jaycar.com.au/deluxe-automatic-soap-dispenser/p/…. Just need to make a hole in the bottle and pour the liquid into the dispenser. Might work with others too.

      • You can take the lid off the bottle easily by using a flathead screwdriver. Lever it off on one side, then the other, then pop it all the way off.

  • +1

I am confused l, are these just the Empty bottle? Or they are soup ? Just ordered but don’t have any accessories

    • +1

They are 4 bottles of the hand wash which are used with the no touch system

    • +7

      Not soup, do not eat.

  • Does it kill virus or just bacteria?

    • -1

      -Edit-
I cannot find alcohol content, it maybe useless against viruses, or more specifically, against the coronavirus.

      -Original-
It kills many viruses, including influenza and the coronavirus, but it doesn't kill many other viruses found in hospitals and that is where active cleaning with soap and water is superior.

It is the alcohol content that kills viruses, the higher the alcohol content, the more effective it is against viruses. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends a minimum of 60% alcohol, and ideally 90% alcohol.

    • +1

I thought all hand washes kill both…even the soap free ones.

Some Chemist Warehouse still have these:
      https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/99052/redwin-sorbole…

      • +2

No, soap will adhere to the germ and wash them away with water. Pretty useless without rinsing. Alcohol will dissolved and disrupt the cellular membrane of most living things such as virus and bacteria.

  • +3

we need anti-viral cleaners, not anti-bacterial.

    • Soap dissolves the cell membranes of coronavirus and other viruses. Lots of replies in this thread if you need more info.

I don’t have the no touch system, can I just refill them on a regular hand wash bottle? Or should I cancel my order, pls advise

    • Worst comes to worst, I'm sure you can just cut it open and pour the wash into another pump dispenser you're finishing up from another handwash etc.

    • If you don't have it, maybe don't get the no touch system.

A relative had one, years ago. Apart from going off when you swipe your hand nearby to activate it, it would go off if someone walked past a couple of meters away. It also started going off randomly (it was in a kitchen and you could see it was activating) when no one was in front of the sensor. So, a lot of wastage and expense.

      • +1

That just sounds outright faulty like a misaligned sensor inside out of the factory. Haven't had that issue with my ones.

  • +3

Another blink and it's gone bargain at Amazon.

    • Still showing in stock!

      • Not in stock. "In stock on April 1, 2020." Still showing as expired.

        • 10:14amEDST: "Currently unavailable."

          • @oztonyau: The reply was straight after you left the comment.

It was available for a good 30 min more after I wrote the reply.

            • @ev3nfl0w: Bargains that are that quickly out of stock are what I meant by "blink and you miss it".

  • It may not have been this store, but one of the 4 packs of Detol on Amazon were from a dodgy company drop shipping random crap. Their reviews were all 1 star.

Hence, be careful with what you're buying, and where possible, buy direct from Amazon or a 3rd party seller with trusted/confirmed reviews.

    • I agree there are some dodgy vendors that advertise on Amazon, but for this particular deal:

Sold by: Amazon Commercial Services Pty Ltd

  • Thank you - managed to scrape through a order even after marked expiry!

edit Still showing Add to Cart - be quick!

    • +1

Yeh that's what I keep recommending to people as others may cancel their orders or Amazon's inventory gets updated with small quantities.

  • +1

Remind me again why I've got an Amazon prime membership? All the staples I buy like paper towel are sold out.

    • +1

For Prime Video to help you get through lockdown?

    • +1

If you aren't using Prime for the shipping, you should definitely use their streaming services. Content for their videos is pretty good.

With staples it's because people have been hoarding and hammering Amazon with those items. They now put restrictions on how many you can buy at a time so it's just a matter of waiting for them to be back in stock and getting in quicker than others.

    • +1

just cancel membership then? buy your staples from colesworth where they're always in stock? /s

  • Back in stock

  • No touch hand wash currently going in and out of stock so definitely keep checking if you need it.

  • Sold out

  • All gone

  • Kept trying and managed to preorder one for April.

  • -3

    Price gouge to me.

  • +1

Why would you care about touching a soap dispenser when you are about to wash your hands anyway?

    • I agree but I think it's more of a gimmick and personal preference of removing the action of pressing a pump and the process being hands free.

    • +1

In the kitchen it means that the hand sanitiser dispenser doesn't get covered in all sorts of kitchen goo.

  • what is the normal price of this?

  • -1

No deal, no more effective than soap on coronavirus. Antibacterial soaps just promote resistant bacteria. Only deal here is the dispenser

    • Saw it but then it's out of stock again

  • The 4 x refill bottles are back in stock for those that wanted it. Probably won't be for long though.

    • Gone.

      • Assuming there was a handful of bundles available which would have went quick

  • Floor wipes back in stock.

  • Sigh realised these are refills when i received them. Now what to dd

    • Pry off the cap with a butter knife and fill a cheap pump dispenser from a $2 store
