I tried to get this previous deal before it expired 31/3/2020 - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/519409 - but it seems gone now.
However, in the sign-up, I noticed there was a small text box, halfway down the options stating 120GB (80 + 40GB) @ $150 for new customers. Recharge customers remain at 80GB. I took a screenshot as I just ordered just in case.

Mods, if this is not a new deal, please remove. I have a $2 Boost sim, but seems I have to order from Boost to get the deal. If you're looking at porting or work no longer paying for your mobile, this is a good option. Expiry not mentioned.

      It's extra data

    (80 + 40GB) @ $150 for new customers.
I think he's talking about the extra 40gb. It wasn't there two months ago when I bought the same deal.

    • Is there a way for existing customers to become new customers and take advantage of this deal? Is there a thread in OzB that explains the process?

      • +2

The easiest way I found from previous threads:
Get a $2 Coles sim and port out from Boost (Coles mobile don't need any additional recharge)
Ideal port out should be done immediately.
Wait 15 minutes after you have been successfully ported into Coles mobile
Request a port out from Coles to Boost. Voila, new customer. Again ideal port out happens immediately. YMMV.

        • +2

Disappointing telecompany rarely looks after existing customers.

Personally I dont like playing the porting game with my forever owned number in case sh*t hits the fan and u loose the number or at least for couple days doing sim hopping

          • +2

@lovepub: Agreed, there's no love for existing customers. And in these times, quick porting seems to be more of a miss than a hit!

          • @lovepub: How do you loose (sic) your number during porting? Millions of people doing it every year. I do it every couple of months on average for my active and parked numbers, never lost more than 5 minutes for each porting. The longest I've had was porting to Circles.Life because those clowns don't know what they were doing, it took days but I did not lose connection with my old provider until the switch over.

True, it's not fair that they only give it to gain customers but not to retain customers. But people like you who stuck with them IS the reason they don't care.

            • @dotJaz: I use my number for work. And it just give me the chills if the porting takes longer than it should.
I cant remember when, but I had experience that i had no reception for about a day and they had to find my number and manual port it.

I wonder if my number got disconnected for whatever reason, would I be able to retrieve it with no hassle …

            • @dotJaz: I guess it's not only just boost….every other company and business dont look after their existing customers as much like you said. Sad but true.

  • I called them today. I went to port yesterday but not done yet.

apparently the porting team is in quarantine so they couldn't guarantee when I would be switched over…

    • +1

I had the same problem. I call tech support again the next day and they just did the porting process again. Successfully ported after a few hours.

    • How you can call them :(( I tried someday but can't call :((
I ordered at 13/3 and still waiting :((

      • Same, Boost just hangs up on me…

      • Are you associated? Or did it make you to tick the box?

        • Sr, this is the first time I do it

          • @dk1303: They removed the associated box for you.

        • Please fix the porting website. If the street number has a letter in it, like 5A, then it will not list your street number to confirm address. Many people will then have to call to port over, which puts more strain on customer service people and annoys the customers too.

          • @MuddyClear: I don't think the address gets matched when you port over. I live in an apartment and it refused to auto populate any unit numbers, only the building address.

      • I waited on hold for 40 minutes…

  • Any promo codes around?

  • What an eye for detail! Hope it works!

  • Thanks this is what I need

  • I bought 2x $150 packs for $135 each last Easter, they were like 18 month expiry haha.
About 2 weeks away from having to apply my second voucher code.
Shame this isn't on recharges too.

    • +2

Bought the same recharge at the same special price and recharged last week where I received 40GB bonus on top of 80GB. A week before my 12 month plan was expiring, Boost sent me a text saying if I recharged before my expiry date, I would receive 40GB bonus data - https://ibb.co/chs9WhD :)

      • +1

Does it mean that this deal will work for recharge too?

      • Ah cool! Good to know. Thanks.Got to use it so will find out either way. Don't really need the extra data, certainly wouldn't bother faffing for it.

  • Be careful, I recharged yesterday and didn't get the 120GB, only the usual 80GB.

Their support is effectively uncontactable, I assume it was done in the Philippines or similar.

Other people with the same issue, ie https://community.boost.com.au/t5/Recharge-Network-Support/r…

    • I bought a $2 sim and recharged $150 on 25/03. I haven’t received 40gb data.

      • Call their customer service and tell them, they will apply it manually, it will show in the app as bonus data

    • Yeah hz I ordered 13/03 but still waiting my order :(((. I can't call for boost. Can you help me to call them :((

  • +6

Every now and then BDP drops the price to $135 or $140, you can price beat at OW ($128 or $133).

I missed the previous $135, then noticed BDP adjusts the price between $140 and $150. By chance it was $140 when I was at OW.

    It is now $135 again (31/Mar @ 9:55pm): https://bestdealplaza.com/mobile-plus/product/boost-mobile-p…

For some reason OW network cannot access BDP website, so you have to show them on your mobile. If they insist to verify on their device, remind them to get off the wifi.

    false postive

    • +2

      ordered one now from them
      Thanks mate

      • +2

Yeah, it's easier to just order from BDP.

And also the right thing to do, supporting the original business then letting OW to undercut.

        • +1

feels bad that I've paid $150 few hours ago for my partner's sim

        • Do they have similar deal for recharge for the existing users?

    • Thanks.
Note that it says ''Available on backorder?

    • +2

But is bonus data available on a sim pack purchased on a third party website though?

  • +1

    I need a boost 🧛

  • I was on the phone with Boost Call Center yesterday. Their live chat has been disabled. The wait time is 35mins at least.
Some staff know about this deal and some staff don’t. How do I know this you ask? I had to port in 4 numbers and rang 4 times to the call center to get the extra 40GB added to each number. Two gave the 40GB extra data asap. The other two said I was wrong but “did me a favour” and gave me just 20GB instead. Good luck to those who want to try

  • BDP. Plus Bonus 40GB Data If You Activate By 30/03/2020. Bit difficult.

    • +1

yes, that activation was the old deal requiring activation by 30/3 or 31/3 depending how you read it. That deal had a different splash screen on Boost. I got it for my wife in February - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/519409 + the later 10GB bonus for a total of 130GB (although the 10GB expires in April if not used).

In porting myself today, that deal was no longer listed. So I believe (but can't chat to confirm) new signups ordering a SIM from Boost gets the bonus. I think they would honour it, given the site clearly states "new signups". I took a screenshot just to be sure, including the system date and time.

  • i managed to get this done, expect a waiting time on minimum 1 hour or not at all, i hung up after 1 hour 45 mins. i also only get 3g at my house in the city. i hope to god i never have to try and talk to them again.

Absolutely shocking compared to kogan and optus so far, I dont understand the hundreds of upvotes on previous deals.

    • Use website to port over as faster.

    • Crazy thought, but maybe that was pre covid taking half their support staff offline

  • +1

I bought at officeworks on Monday ang got the 40gb bonus

    • When did you activate and did you have to chase them up?

  • I must be blind, where does it say 80gb+40gb? After clicking activate?

    • To get 40gb, need to activate by 30 March 2020.

edit: just realised new customer also eligible for 40gb

    • +1

      Just above BUY NOW button:

      Grab a SIM & get bonus 40GB

      • +1

Thanks! that's what I get for searching 80

  • Wasn't this $30 cheaper about a month ago (and $60 for the larger one) - so they just increased the cost and added data????
(I saw the other comments now - I think prices vary wildly and often)

  • do i have to activate before 30th ( already expired ) to get the extra 40GB if i'm a new customer?

  • I bought this deal about a week ago.
Called up and transferred my current number over without a problem. Got the bonus 40gb as well.
However, two days later, i can no longer make or receive and phone calls. They said that there was a Telstra outage in my area (didn't make sense why i could still access my data and send SMS messages). I also drive a lot for work and still couldnt make any phone calls.

Called up again to talk to someone else and they decided to issue me a new sim card which was meant to arrive yesterday….
Good deal but customer service is very bad.

  • Sorry I don't get these plans. Is it 150 bucks for the year and you get 80gig data each month to use or is it 80gig to use up in a years time?

    • +2

      80 gbs total a year

  • +3

Nice deal for new customers, yet I wish Boost would consider more Recharge offers for existing customers.

I still have 60GB remaining from my 80GB with one month to use it.

So for low GB users, IMO recharging at a good price means more than getting more GB's.

  • Just as a note if anyone has a "slow" sim delivery. I had the $300/240GB on order - not backorder(bought in the $240 sale). It didn't turn up so I rang them and they said it's now a backorder, and gave me a code to use on activating a $2 sim to get the deal. Assuming they will answer the phone then of course!

  • Does anyone (assosiated) know if, as a new customer to be eligible for the extra 40g of data, when the service must be activated by? Ive still got 5 weeks on my current service…

  • +2

This is hardly a deal, they just haven’t updated the website for two days.

    • +1

Has anyone activated after the original 30 March offer and actually received the extra data?

      • Me, x 2.

  • +1

My partner's current pre-paid is due to expire in about a week's time. I am unable to find any deals on recharges at present, have checked the BDP site and their deal is for new customers only.
Has anyone aware of any recharge deals to $150 recharge for $135?

    • I'm on the same boat…
No recharge deal so far that I'm aware of. Most deals are for "new customers" only.
From memory I read someone got recharge offer for 40GB additional data.

I might bite $142.50 recharge voucher from woolies this time…

      • I will also give a try then. How do you get it for $142.50 anyway?

  • Can this be used as a data sim say in an ipad?

    • +1

      Sure can

  • Any similar deals using the Optus network?

  • So you can't buy a sim from Coles and a $150 voucher and apply? You're still a new customer, right?

  • +2

I bought a $2 boost sim from woolworths yesterday and the $150 12 month recharge (which is this deal). I am a new boost customer

I moved from optus and my number was ported immediately.

I rung boost yesterday because I haven't received my bonus 40gb data. After waiting 30mins on hold I got through and they told me the 40gb data can take 72 hours to appear on the account. She confirmed that you don't have to have bought the sim from boost directly. The fact I bought it from Woolworths with a recharge is fine.

Now I begin the waiting game for for 40gb…

    • thats the opposite of what other boost employees have said, they really have no idea. they had to add my 40gig, she said it would take 5 to 25mins and it appeared after 3 hours. Unless they added it when you called you wont get it.

      • Damn thanks for the heads up. I will call back in a few days to ensure they add it on.

Also at woolworths when I bought my sim they had the 40gb extra promotion advertised where the sims are located

    • when did you activate?

    • How easy is it to port? Can you do it all online, or do they have to txt you a confirmation code or call them?

      • +1

I activated online and it took about 3 minutes to port my number.

  • +2

just to advise that the data will be showing in app as DATA 80 GB and then BONUS DATA 40 GB, when you press "PRESS FOR MORE INFO", it won't be showing as 120 GB in short version of MY BALANCE MENU.

    • +1

Thanks this is helpful to know. I'm still missing my 40gb but good to know how to check

      • I was thinking that I am missing it too (recharged on 15 March as per text with bonus data I received before), spent 30 minutes on hold and then another 10 minute with rep on phone (earlier today) and that what he advised me and I was able to see the data that way.

  • called at 9am on the dot - no waiting but was told the promo ended 2 days ago and the website hasn't been updated

    • +1

seems like the website has been updated and the offer is gone…

      • Will they add the additional 40gb?

    • Did they give you the 40gb?

      • I haven't bought yet - wanted confirmation before I buy

  • just a warning to other users, after using boost network, my phone's vpn apps are all stopped working. when try to launch different vpn apps, it all states no network connection.

    • my Nordvpn seems working fine

      • all my vpn app to china has been stopped working.

        • then it has to have something to do with China servers, not Boost or Telstra

  • +4

FML. Went to woolies and risked my life just to see the offer has expired.

  • Boost your frustration with worst customer service ever. Over one hour on the phone on 2 separate occasions, no chance of anyone picking the phone, dodgy operators, still phone internet not working after switching to boost. from 2 days. Want proof screenshots?

    • Same boat. They don't have local technical expertise. Some customer care person spent 1 hour to resolve with no luck. I was told she will email a group offshore but not sure when it will be resolved due to offshore lockdown

  • Anyone received a sim kit ?

  • To confirm I got my sim card in 3 days, but took a week to activate because I was busy.

On activation, the 40GB was not loaded, but as I called Boost they immediately loaded the 40GB free data for a total of 120GB + I applied for the Telstra 10GB covid month.

    • When did you activate? Before or after 31/3/20?

  • tehy have been horrible.
activated SIM 24 hours ago still inactive.
no live chat and no phone number for support working.

what number did you call guys?

  • +1

I activated today and called them with PDF evidence from the day I bought it (30/3) showing that it said 40GB bonus without saying a date it must be activated by etc

and after 30 minutes of fighting back the guy over the phone succumbed and gave it to me
