These Murdock press kabanaheads are partly responsible for spreading the FUD and getting people to panic buy.

Rather have covid than watch this garbage

    • Pull my finger

Prefer ABC News anyway, always free https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-sCNxj2M2M

        yikes.

      • +4

You're going to have to justify that one.

ABC is the most reliable and least biased source of news in Australia by any reasonable measure.

There have numerous investigations of bias within the ABC's reporting over the last 15 years and not one has found any evidence.

If you think the ABC is too left-wing, it's almost certainly because you're too far out to the right.

Whether this particular Covid channel is politically biased I'm unsure, but based on the rest of the Murdoch press, it's extremely likely. ABC is a much more reliable source, and it's always free.

I enjoy ABC as a source and i think its absolutely vital for us as a country especially for covering matters others turn a blind eye too. But they have plenty of their fare share of bias and prejudice these days, mostly with the selective omission of contrary information. They've been called out countless times for it as have other outlets. All news outlets do it these days, it's not a crime, its not an ABC specific fault in the least, but a fact of modern journalism and engaging consumers.

      • +6

The fact that you're saying the abc is laughable as if its an obvious fact that requires no further explanation suggests to me that you're drinking more of Murdoch's Kool-Aid then you're letting on….

        • -5

I think you're drinking the abc cool aid. I don't have sky and I don't subscribe to Murdoch.i watch abc news. Unlike you I listen and watch all news and don't restrict what I see and hear.

        • Saw this today and thought of this thread . so Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper was interviewed by then Four Corners host Sarah Ferguson, where he claimed the Russians were behind it all. However, this week the House Intelligence Committee released transcripts which showed that at the same time officials such as Mr Clapper were telling a different story behind closed doors. But let me guess, the abc were not to know he was lying to them? Everyone else could tell

Personally I like one sky journalists opinion.

At least you acknowledge that it is just subjective opinion pieces. Personally I prefer objective news and facts, but that's just me.

      Amd always left wing bias

ABC is a much better source and will be covering this in a more balanced way. They have a dedicated Corona information channel now, always free, no advertorials, no stupid takes (e.g. let everyone get it ASAP so share prices go back up sooner - sky news).

    • +1

The only reason to give this away for free will probably generate new viewers to increase demand for advertising $'s which are way down right now.

  • +5

Jesus god no. Sky is the cancer of the modern democratic world.

  • +4

At least we could use the murdoch paper as toilet paper…….

  • +1

I don't trust their 'analysis', which has been shown to be factually incorrect and biased.

There is a school of thought that we should not be continually watching COVID-19 news, as this can have a detrimental impact on our mental health. It is recommended that we obtain an update once per day, from a reliable source, and then go about our (locked-down) lives as normally as we can.

  • +1

Cant they just Flap off and Die already

  • -1

Anyone with half brain should be adequately capable to filter and digest commentator opinions and bias whether it be Sky, Fox, CNN, ABC, 7/8/10 etc rather than get worked up over it. IMO nothing worse than limiting yourself to a single source or political slant of news these days. Trust bloody no-one, they are all out to sell you their version. Always be skeptical. Diverse sources and those you disagree with give perspective we otherwise lack (and sometimes comedy). You can name a news source and they've all literally been busted both outright fudging and cherry picking facts. It's just the norm these days.

    • +3

No, I don't think you can say that about the ABC's reporting. There have been some controversial political opinion pieces but not on actual reporting of facts.

Feel free to prove me wrong though.

By the way, the vast majority of ABC's reporting on Covid19 is by a team which includes a qualified and practicing GP…

The Murdoch press is a scourge on this country and should be discouraged whenever possible.

      • -3

Of course i can. Look, I support and advocate for the ABC, it's a vital news source i enjoy. I grew up on it and been consuming for 40 years and will continue to do so. It's fantastic. But i trust none of these bastards these days, not from Sky, ABC, the papers, not anyone. Use the information, do not blindly trust it. Access to all that diverse information i feel its important to champion because it serves a function. But i also digest information from many other places and been plenty of instances where ABC selectively omitted inconvenient facts from analysis to sway the narrative. It's not a blight on ABC, it's just reality of modern journalism. It's exceptionally common place, the more diverse you digest information the more you notice it, the less.. well, you're unlikely to. Anyway, i'll leave it at that as these subjects seldom attract constructive contributions here. Stay safe folks.

      False Equivalence

The issue isnt that Newscorp has a non-zero amount of bias, It's that there is soooooo much bias that anything of value is buried under piles of propaganda, half truths and flat out lies.

  • +1

This junk. ABC news is best.

  • +1

    Fake news

  • +2

    Sorry, no deal.
For this to be a deal, I'd need to be paid a healthy sum to endure the fake news propaganda torture…

  • +2

they still downplay the severity of the virus… why would this be a good source of info?

    • Who says that? I've only seen them recognise the severity of the virus.

      • -1

        Who says that?

People who don't watch Sky News and downvote purely on its perceived reputation.

  • I don't know anything about the Sky News channel. What's misleading about it?

    • Watch it and form your opinion
