        • processing too

          • @mokkzzz: oh ok, I haven't got that email yet so will wait and then cancel it if the price is higher than I signed up for.

            • @IMadeYouReadThis: https://www.vodafone.com.au/delivery We don’t refund or exchange for change of mind, so please choose carefully when you place an order. worried now.

              • +4

@[Deactivated]: Its not a change of mind tbh, if the price you signed up to was different than what's in the email then its a pricing error and they should use their discretion to cancel the order.

                • -7

@IMadeYouReadThis: They should use THERE discretion?

                  • @Eeples:

                    They should use THERE discretion?

I said it in the context of their existing policy which doesn't cancel the order for change of mind.

                    • @IMadeYouReadThis: It’s not at their discretion to cancel …..it is there legal responsibility…. because they have misrepresented the pricing,

                      • @Eeples: I am not sure what you are saying mate but online price error is an error not a misrepresentation. They can't charge you more than the advertised price but they can cancel/honour your order at their discretion.

                        • @IMadeYouReadThis: Some people have received email showing full pricing.

I am saying it is not at vodafones discretion to not cancel those.

    • +2

I'd pay them for a few months first

      The economy will thank you

    • -1

Managed to cancel the order over phone. Peace of mind is the greatest bargain. Sigh !!!

  • +1

So it looked like I got my order in before they fixed it but the credit check failed. Then the confirmation email came through and charged full price.

Looks like I’ll need to cancel this one. Have screenshots of the plan details with $0 device cost though.

    • +1

same, it says "we are processing your order" and $172.41 per month. I hope i can cancel the order.

      • Managed to cancel the order. Had to wait 45 mins on the call for some rep to pick up. Friendly rep though. Wasted > 1 hour and lesson learnt.

        • Same, was on hold for just over an hour and cancelled.

The counter offer was to waive the $15 per month network charge and just make the device payments… said no thanks.

    • Yeah, i got the same thing. When i enter in the order number on track & trace it says "We need more information to complete your order. Please call customer care"

  • It’s below cost so they will not honor it..

    • +14

I wouldn't make that big scene out of this, seriously.

      • +14

God, I can't imagine running a small business like this, employing someone from marketing to do some web stuff, sadly some code errors pass by editing and they post a price for an hour thats wrong.. that then gets posted on a deals website, then has people advising that the best route here is the TIO.. Mayswell start a class action lawsuit at this point, take them down!

        Sigh.

        • +5

Yeah, at this point I'm really not surprised by the unyielding greed of people though.

          • -2

@downbythecreek: But they benefit from 24/7 sales unlike the old days, they should be more accountable for prices set.

        • +3

Vodafone is not exactly a small business

          • +1

            @FutureTech:

Vodafone is not exactly a small business

            That's not the point though

            • -6

@IMadeYouReadThis: I actually think there is a difference. For a smaller business I won't do this because they have limited resources to get the website right which is understandable but for a multinational corporation like Vodafone there's no excuse for misleading information/bugs on their website and if there is because of their negligence or lack of effort then they should bear the consequences (and they are able to - they can give everyone commented on this post a free iPad pro and it won't make a dent for them because their turnover is billions of dollars)

              • +4

@FutureTech: The OP had [Price Error] in his title and his description describing it as a price error.

If you have been mislead that is a bigger statement about you than Vodafone.

                • @cheaplee:

If you have been mislead that is a bigger statement about you than Vodafone.

                  touché

  • Well at least Vodafone actually has stock of the 2020 iPad Pro’s. Still nothing from Telstra and Optus.

  • +2

The fact they didn't advise you that it was pricing error, and then tried to rip you off and breach the contract you signed up, opens them up to that.

    • They don’t need to approve you regardless so the contract is not valid until both party agree..

      • +3

Somone posted that they got approved, but at the incorrect price. Hence they breached the initial contract.

  • Is the credit check before or after the final "Place order" stage?
I was at the stage, searching for credit card number, refreshed ozbargain and saw the price is back to normal.
In the process of applying a loan so hope this does not trigger a credit check before the final stage.

    • credit check will be after the "Place order" stage

      • Good to hear that. Thank you.

  • Got my order in at $15/month but the confirmation shows a $172/month for the device. Can’t get through to Vodafone! If anyone manages to cancel can you let us know how you contacted Vodafone?

    • By confirmation do you mean the email that says “we’re processing your order”?

    • -1

same here, and their website says https://www.vodafone.com.au/delivery We don’t refund or exchange for change of mind, so please choose carefully when you place an order. worried now.

      • Why are you worried? They can't charge you more than what you signed up at.

        • Unless he meant that he received an email confirmation of the fixed price, $172/month, rather than $15/month. If he had the screen shot during checkout, probably can argue over that?

          • @cloudie9: I have a screen shot.

          • @cloudie9: If you ordered when it was $15, and have the email stating that, that is all that you require.

The fact they didn't cancel but went ahead and tried to fraudulently overcharge puts them (Vodafone) in a very bad spot.

            • @Xishnik: On screenshot of final page, it says $15, in email it says $172.41

              • @[Deactivated]: are you able to PMme a final approval screenshot? i took a pre-process screenshot with pricing but they might ask for a confirmation page one.

                • @ExtraSalt: the final page says order number, esim confirmation code.

                  • @[Deactivated]: you can hide/blur those because i have mine order number already. If you cbb though, it's all good

            • +2

@Xishnik: You are saying this almost like it was an intended bait and switch, I think the most likely situation that's happened here is, the actual webpage had a pricing error, but most of the backend still had the correct price saved. I haven't heard a single person say they actually got approved and a $15p/m confirmation.

              • +2

@dfaktz: Obviously it wasn't a bait and switch. BUT, they should be handling it differently, considering the stuff up is on their end.

Either cancel the order with an apology that it was a price error, or honor it. Those are the only two valid options that they have.

They can't charge you more though. That is not a legal option.

                • +1

@Xishnik: Well yes, I agree.. but I don't think we should be judging their actions yet, its only been the night, I expect when business opens this morning, there will be some updates.

              • @dfaktz: There is. Georgev got his at $15/month for 36 months, if you read all the comments

    • They open from 8am today, i'll be calling to cancel so will let you know.

EDIT: calls after 8am and it goes straight to automated message saying "Due to the impacts of COVID-19, Vodafone is unable to take this call at this time". -_-

      • +2

just listen to number, when you hear options, don't select one. then you should be able to talk to a rep. I did that way and managed to cancel the order.

    • +1

managed to cancel by calling Vodafone

      • can you please confirm if you called 1300650410. Also, if you can provide the details of the option to be selected as majority of the options take to COVID-19 tape. I need to cancel my order as well…

        • +1

yep the same number I called. if i'm not mistaken i chose 3 first then didn't choose the others afterwards. took a few tries though and was place on hold

          • @lifeIsGoing: I managed to cancel by doing as you said. I didn't select any option and was in hold for 45 mins.

      • managed to cancel as well. Finally peace of mind.

  • +3

lol @ plebs gambling low percentages with their credit record and binding contracts. Not worth it.

    • Due to the pricing error people should be able to ask vodafone to remove the credit enquiry. Companies can do this, it takes 30 days to drop off once done. I had iiNet do this as for some reason they kept pinging my credit file every 6 months.

  • Yes you are right, it’s just the email that says « we are processing your application. » Probably shouldn’t worry.

  • +2

thanks guys.. funniest thing I have read all year!!

  • +12

Sad I missed it but pleasantly entertained watching those that did squirm after they the full price is supposedly being charged

  • +3

As long as you processing confirmation email states "Total min. cost $0.00 over 12 months" for the device and eg "$15 Month to Month Red Data Plan" you'll be fine. All VF can do is cancel the order…

    • +1

My email summarizes the order at $15 total/month. Just waiting to see what the next response is after the credit check stage.

      • I've got this too

  • +1

Received the email and shows the $15plan and $0 for tablet. Unlikely to be honoured, expecting a cancellation or a call/email to say sorry price error.

like others have said they can't go and now charge U the full price or change the contract to which you placed the order for

I tried calling the number in the email but just get the recorded message of urgent queries only. Also checked order tracking and says to call as they need more information.

Guess will just have to wait this one out

    • same here

  • +1

    Damn. I want an ipad

  • Received email with 12 months plan and $15 per month.

Status : Application is under way.

Anyone received any further updates after this email ?

    • +1
      • +3

"We need more information to complete your order"

      • +2

"We need more information to complete your order". Am gonna sit tight and wait for them to call.

        • Same. Nothing to really lose

          • @chartparker: We need more information to complete your order. Please call customer care on 1300 650 410

  • So…
The email stated 'order received': 0$ for the iPad and 15$ for the plan (12 months).
The tracking page is showing 'order prepared for delivery'…

Let's wait and see [popcorn crunching…]

    • When did you place the order? On a 12 months or 36 months?

      • Based on his post, it is for 12 months.

        • It seems like your order has been approved! Online checking for my order shows "We need more information to complete your order"

          • @danawys: I seriously have no expectation they'll honour it. 12 months, as in my previous post.

            • +1

@Elendir: If they did honour it…
Well, I'm spending my days as an acute care nurse in a major metropolitan hospital.
Trust me, in these days, I welcome any bit of good news I possibly can 😉

              • @Elendir: In that case, I'm genuinely hoping you will get your order.

            • @Elendir: I'll be much surprised if they approved it for all orders. 1 or 2 may be lucky?

    • That’s a bit early for popcorn. Might spoil breakfast.

  • +2

Ordered the 265gb Silver on 36 months option.
Confirmation page said $15 per month for the plan and "No extra cost" for the iPad.
Received order email which unfortunately stipulated $15 + $57.47.
Called 1300650410 - after listening to music+covid19 messages for 28mins, a chap called Mark answered the phone in person.
I explained the situation and after another 5 minute wait he said they cannot honour the price but are willing to cancel the order with zero commitment.
    I opted for the cancellation.
Hopefully that's the end of this misfortunate experience!

    • +2

If you didn't call them, would the order have proceeded at the incorrect price?

      • Possibly. He couldn’t see the $0 cost for the iPad on his end. I decided to not take the risk and cancel. Mind you, he did say they can’t honour the $0 price.

        • +1

Not sure why the negs for honestly sharing my experience

  • Good on you all for jumping on that price-error rollercoaster - hopefully someone's gets honoured.

    • +4

At least it's some entertainment for everyone in isolation

  • -1

Lol, sounds like fun cancelling. Lucky I didn't join the boat

    • +5

      I don't understand why people are cancelling…

Unless Vodafone themselves cancel it now before proceeding with the order, they will be forced to honor it. If they try overcharge you, they are in breach of contract.

You just need to dispute the charges if they exceed $15.

      • +3

I think the ones trying to cancel are the ones who received the confirmation email charging them regular price for both the IPAD and the plan, rather than some who got charged $0 for the ipad and $15 for the plan.

        • Yup - that's why I called and cancelled. Online stated nothing more to pay but the confirmation email stipulated $57.47

      • +2

and we have the email as proof. Insane if people voluntarily call them and have their order cancelled.

        • +2

          Exactly…

        • +2

          yes

        • +1

If you were lucky enough to get an email stating total of $15

          • @tdh78au:

If you were lucky enough to get an email stating total of $15

I think most existing post paid Vodafone customers would've got them (including myself). The credit check may be less onerous for those existing customer with build up history with Vodafone.
