The base games have set songs:

Unlimited has the much higher range of songs. If you don't really care between the two sets of base games then just get the cheaper option IMO.

This has a full game in the box, with a full games worth of songs.
I can pay ~$30 a year to have access to nearly all of the other songs that I can't play any more because they're on older consoles etc. New songs regularly added - I'm getting more than a games worth of value every year out of it (particularly when you think of the full price of the game vs. the ongoing sub).
Seems fine to me - this isn't loot boxes we're talking about.
