  • Can we port in a number from somewhere else into this plan?

    • Sure can, but as other members have mentioned it's less hassle to port in from a different network.
      Catch use the Optus network.

      • If you're currently with Catch on this plan and it expires in a fortnight, can you port out to a $2 sim and then back with this offer?

        • +2

I don't know the answer to that, however another option is to port to Kogan (Voda) 90 days $14.90 then back to Catch after that.

Obviously you will miss out on this deal, but it's usually only $9.90 ($3.30 per month) after cashback anyway.

          • @Arthur Dunger: take note… there's a chance of Kogan massively screwing up the porting process at no fault of your own. mine took 7 weeks, TIO was called in on week 4, Kogan still exceeded TIO's deadlines.

            • @xrailgun: Sounds like you had a rough time. I've ported in and out of Kogan at least 6 times in the past 12 months, all of them have gone completely smooth. The longest I ever waited was to port from Belong to Kogan, and that's because I lost my Belong SIM card so wasn't able to respond to the SMS to initiate the port. In the end I had to get Belong to move my service onto a new SIM (luckily I had one spare) just for the purposes of porting out.

      • Thanks!

  • +2

Activate in 30 days? I just got the last one a couple days ago.. I would buy this and stockpile it but that 30 days rule kills it

    • +1

      That's probably the point :)

  • $5 for both referee and referrer, after referee makes $20 purchase

So this condition is not met?

  • +1

Wow cashback tracked in 2 minutes! Thanks TA :)

    • Not here, did it last night, nothing so far…will probably have to report it…most of these cash rewards\cashback offers only seem to track properly if it is for small amounts…once it gets over a $ or $$ it magically never tracks and I have to report it to them.

      • +1

All mine track no problems. Maybe you're doing something wrong.

      • Tracking is almost instant for Catch Connect. If you haven't received tracking, I suggest you may have 3rd party plugins installed such as AdBlock/uBlock/Honey which take attribution away from Cashrewards. Maybe even an issue with router/firewall config that may be blocking something at your end. I suggest using the CR App via 4G if you have tracking issues. Also, please check your CR acct directly in case the email landed in spam/junk folder.

The fact you appear to have so many issues suggests something is up at your end. Best bet is to cancel your CC purchase and try with the app as I suggested above, which will almost certainly work. Don’t forget, if attribution is given to another publisher, the claim will be unsuccessful. Thanks.

        • I had my adblock disabled so not that. Some go through but any higher $ ones don't, even though they say they are tracked when you click through.

          • @Ben Kenobi: A click is not confirmation of tracking. It simply means you clicked out from Cashrewards at a certain time. We have no idea of your journey beyond that click, but if your transaction was attributed elsewhere (Honey, other open tabs, clicking ads/banners etc), the store's analytics will show that when you claim. Sale & cashback values have nothing to do with tracking success.

            • @tightarse: when I click through it pops up and says it is tracked, has a green 'ok' indicator, but doesn't track in many cases

              • -1

@Ben Kenobi: I think you're mistaking clicks with tracking. Please do me a favour, try your next purchase via an incognito tab with no plugins active. Do not leave the store until your purchase is complete. Better still, download and use the Cashrewards mobile app as it uses its own native browser.

  • Is $10.40 enough to withdraw into your bank account?

  • +2

    Sweet, $1.5/month after cashback

  • Can anyone help me with this? If I purchase this SIM & plan using my Catch account, can I give it to someone else as a gift and they activate it and port their own number?

    • +1

The sim is tied to your account which has your name & date of birth, so it wouldn't work.
When porting you need to use the exact same name & date of birth.

The best option is to just create a new account with their details.

  • I just bought this 2 days ago and they just shipped it today!

  • Can it just be used a sim card for data? I need one for wifi modem

    • +3

Yes, I do this all the time.

  • Make sure you don't click the shopback chrome extension after clicking through cashrewards TUT

  • This site can’t be reachedt.cfjump.com’s server IP address could not be found.

When I try to click the link in Chrome/Brave/FF with ublock turned off etc.

  • Our website is undergoing maintenance
At the moment we're working on our website so this part of our website is currently unavailable. We'll be as quick as possible.
We're sorry about the inconvenience. Please try again a little later.

TA - Is there any chance offer will be extended till tomorrow as we cannot make purchase today?

    • Website came back around 12:15AM. Perhaps Catch Connect's website has nightly maintenance at midnight.

  • TA. My cashback showed $13.55, but now tracked as $5?

    • Please read the OP. $13.55 is your spend amount ex GST. Not sure what you mean re $5. What’s showing in your CR acct?

      • Yeah I get that. But actual tracked = $5

        • Please check your click history and confirm it was made after 7.15PM AEST last night (promo start time). All transactions after this time are reporting as they should. If there's still a concern, please PM me. Thanks.

          • @tightarse: Ok, it was just before 7:15pm.

However, when I clicked on the Catch Mobile link through Cashrewards I saw this

"Cashback on 90 Day Plan ID 835 $13.00"

Not marked as expired etc, so I expected $13??

Will be happy with $10, definitely not $5??

*Just checked now and all those rebates are still showing. I tried to enter '835' in the promotion code box on Catch Connect, did nothing. In fairness, surely you can't provide a link to an un-obtainable deal (mark them as expired if that is the case).

            • @tunzafun001: Correct, that's for the 835 plan ($13 cashback applies). This offer is for the 834 plan :)

So it looks like you purchased the incorrect plan, and received the correct rate at the time.

              • -3

@tightarse: The numbers are irrelevant, You dont get to chose?? Just need to trust what it says?

                • @tunzafun001: The numbers are very relevant. Here are all of Catch Connect's plans and IDs:

                  https://catchconnect.com.au/

And here are all the cashback rates for each of those plans and IDs:

                  https://www.cashrewards.com.au/catch-connect

And screenshot here, showing the current promo:

                  • -3

@tightarse: Ok, TA, I love your work, but look at it from the consumer side for a minute.

Your site is basically a shop. I walk in and see this on the shelf.

                    https://www.cashrewards.com.au/catch-connect
                    -> . Cashback on 90 Day Plan ID 835 $13.00

How would I not expect to get $13.00 back when I sign up for the 90 day plan?

I searched the entire page and see no T&C's linked to the numbers? Nothing to say '835' or whatever is not currently available / expired etc?

I guess what I'm saying is, clean up that page (To me it's basically false advertising). If it's $10 we are getting back, list it at $10 (asking too much?)
I definitely dont see how I only get $5?

                    • @tunzafun001: Thanks for the kind words, really appreciate it.

However I don't see where the confusion is. If you buy the 835 plan, you will get $13 as advertised. You purchased the 834 plan (not the 835) prior to 7:15PM so it tracked at $5. Am I missing something? Maybe others can chime in to help?

                      • -2

                        @tightarse: Yes,

How does a consumer chose the '835' plan from you landing site?

I clicked on cashrewards home site, entered catch connect in the search bar, click on the active promotions box, get presented with a list of cashbacks (they are all listed, so assume active). I dont get to chose which one, just the catch connect mobile site link.

I chose the 90 day plan. Cashrewards shows $13 tracking…I get paid $5.

I go on Ozbargain and see a post sayign the $13 will actually get you $10

How could it not be more confusing?

                        • @tunzafun001: When you click 'Shop Now' from Cashrewards, you land on the Catch Connect site that lists 13 different plans (each with unique IDs). You get to choose which one you buy, and then you receive cashback based on what you purchased. It's all automated. The system detects what you bought, and references it back to the cashback table. Hope this makes sense. Of the many thousands of Catch Connect transactions made, you're the first person to raise this as a concern, so I hope I've helped explain. Thanks.

                          • -1

@tightarse: It's "all automated" is the problem. It didn't give me the correct value (as you are advertising on your site).

I'll get straight to the point, YOUR site EXPLICITLY shows $13 cashback for the 90 day plan.

..and you aren't going to fullfil that obligation.

Come on TA, you know that isn't right.

If it is, go fill your car advertised at 90c per litre, then go up and pay and find you are charged $3 per litre as the Bowser automatically charges that amount!

                            • +2

@tunzafun001: Not all the fuel at the service station is 90c per litre though. You have to pick the correct pump.

                              • -3

@Arthur Dunger: True, but the 90 day pump is the only one I'm interested in and the 90 day pump price is clearly labelled. Went with that, but now told it automatically assigns you a different price.

                              • @Arthur Dunger: Turns out the same type of petrol has different prices at the same petrol station! This is the bit that I didn't get.

In this analogy you pull up and see a sign with a $13, $10, $7 unleaded 90 discount with some numbers in brackets unreferenced. You fill up with "unleaded 90", got to pay and chose either $15 or $39 per litre and your fuel docket will automatically apply an automated discount.

                                I thought I was getting $13 discount on the $15 unleaded 90.

Thankfully, cashrewards have now removed the $13 discount sign at the front and put it in the t&c's. So you have some idea what the brackets mean.

                            • @tunzafun001: I'm really not sure why you're not understanding this. Let me try again.

On site we have 4 different rates for the 90-day plans, all dependant on which one you buy. See here…

                              https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/27551/78552/cc.jpg

$13 cashback applies only to one of them (ID 835), not to all of them. You purchased ID 834 before we increased from $5 to $10.40 for this promotion. We've not misrepresented anything in any way, and as I said, no-one has ever raised this as a concern before today.

                              • -3

@tightarse: Same! I'll try this another way. How would I as a consumer know I'm getting 834? I don't see anything that shows a graphic on how to find the plan number? I've never used catch before. Why on Earth do they have more than one price for the same thing?

I now see what you are saying on the catchmobile header box, but had no clue that's what I was looking for. I simply saw 90 day plan $13 cashback on CR. Went to catch and looked for 'a' 90 day plan, chose it.

If had to enter 834 (say as a promo code), that would be less confusing.

                                • @tunzafun001: It is listed that way though, you click on the one you want to get based on the value offered by the retailer in the time frame before any expiry of increased cash back and if you buy without Adblock all works out well - has always when I’ve purchased these.

                                  • @Jase1: I now understand there are multiple prices for the same 90 day service. I have never seen this before from a telco. So I thought there was only a 30,90, 365 etc day option, and the cashback listed on CR was $13 for the one and only 90 day plan.

*Update- Cashrewards have changed their landing page completely for these offers and added them into the T&C's.

                                    Good to see.

                                    • @tunzafun001:

*Update- Cashrewards have changed their landing page completely for these offers and added them into the T&C's.

The Catch Connect landing page has been exactly the same for months with 13 separate tiers. The only thing that changed at midnight is the cashback rate for Plan ID 834, which dropped from $10.40 to $5.00 cashback. Thanks.

                                      • @tightarse: Interesting!

Well it's completely different than when I clicked through it.

All the links I referenced in my rant above go to a different page now as well? My original links were to an unreferenced table.

Could it be that I happened to go through at the time you were updating to the new deal or something? (as I purchased just before this post). I kept a screenshot of what I saw when I clicked through CR. This explains why we have no idea what each other are talking about.

For what it's worth, what I see now is heaps better with an actual t&c's tab etc (but I still think a graphic with an arrow pointing to the plan number will be good).

I can send you the screenshot if you want?

                                        • -1

Feel free to add it here. I can assure you nothing has changed. This is exactly how the Catch Connect merchant page has looked for months.

                                • @tunzafun001: I am not sure what part isn't clear
Can't get clearer than that. It is all in the terms and conditions.

                                  Never ever had any issues

Don't forget to cancel the auto direct debit otherwise this becomes a liability. Got burnt by that in the past.

    • I notice it still keeps your card number. Used to be able to put a visa test card number in place of your actual cc. But now recognises these numbers. Maybe use a $0 balance visa debit etc.

      • They’ve changed providers recently and they do keep on file. Perhaps change it to an old account with $0 in it like I do then there’s no surprises and turn off auto recharge like @braskic mentioned:)

  • Has anyone had issues with cashrewards? I'm waiting close to 4 months for my 2 pizza orders to be verified as not returned/refunded, and waiting just over 3 months for my previous catch connect 3 month sim to be approved. I get the same old generic messages whenever I query the transaction before the due date magically extends again and again. No issues with tracking on shopback for me so at a loss to why I've had such bad luck with cashrewards.

    • Every store has approval dates, and 3 months for Catch is normal. You'll find these on every store page. I can only guess your Pizza Hut orders were claims? Anyway, please PM me and I'll sort it out.

      • Will do, thanks TA

  • Whats the best way for existing customers to port out and in? (Minimising delays and cost)

  • Is it just me or they don't allow ordering with non-Australian bank issued cards?

  • -5

That's expensive 20gb per month at the moment I'm looking for work hopefully i get unlimited data with amaysim then after that 60gb per month

    • +2

      Wth are you on about?

  • Beware of catch. Sim didn't get shipped until i contact them 8 days after ordering. They then shipped it 3 days after contacting them (supposedly requiring escalation to support). A week and a bit after, sim arrives with activation issues. Asked for a refund as 3 weeks without service. Going to do a dispute/chargeback if I don't hear from them within 3 days. Bought Lebara instead ($10 at coles) and activated within 30 minutes. Been porting between Kogan and Catch, first time had issues.

    • Did you ever get an email saying your SIM is on its way before you had to contact them? Just wondering if I should be worried even though I got an email within the first day of ordering the SIM.

      • Nope i didn't get dispatch email. What i got was a confirmation / order / receipt email. Usually I get dispatch email within next business day. However this time I didn't.

I contacted them via webchat to see wether the sim had been dispatched and was i assured it had and I should wait the full 8 business days. Come the 8th business day and no sim nor dispatch notification to be seen. Contacted them via webchat and was told I should wait the 8 business days. I told them it has been 8 business days and they proceeded to check further. Turns out something went wrong and they escalated to support team. Nothing heard back from them until (3 business days later) i get 3 automated dispatched notifications. 2 of the emails stating it has been dispatched, the other one (last notification) saying it will be dispatched after 3 days. 5 business days later (today) i get the sim. Upon login into catch I see that my service is gone from the dashboard, so I try activating it via the activate button from the top menu. I get an error saying its already activated. Here is me going onto webchat again trying to activate a sim but they tell me here's your number and that its already activated. I tell them i had never activated it and wanted to port my number across. So the support guy tries to activate it and gets the same error then tells me to wait to escalate to support. Knowing that support will get back to me in 3 days and potentially more time without a service, i strongly requested refund. Took screenshots and printouts of all my communications for chargeback if it needs to go down that route.
