Good deal from Kogan and especially if you have better Vodafone reception than Optus.

Used this one myself when it was $9.90 once, but if you have good Optus reception, consider the Catch Connect current deal same 60gb over 90 days for $14.90 with $5 cash back from CashRewards. Also no voucher expiry date so quickly.

    • Thanks for this

i just paid $15 for a 3gb data pack with Boost.. sigh

      • +2

Just need to add from my above comment, that you do need to activate sim within 30 days

from purchase in order to get your cash back.

I was Editing my above comment, but you got your comment in just before lol

    • +1

      Good points.

Also consider the below as expiry could be short depending on when you purchase and need to activate it by

You must activate within 30 days of purchase

      • +1

Haha, good eye for detail, we were both on to it at same time, I was beaten twice through editing and comments lol.

Need to add to your edited comment. Yes, that what they state sometimes ( not on all their wording ),

as in some pages it states that you need to activate within 30 days to get the current offerings and inclusions,

and some people have commented that they were able to get same inclusions after waiting more than 30 days.

To get cash back though this is a must. Still good to be aware as things can change without

        warning and remeber,…YMMV.

  • +3

So this time around it's for port ins only.

    Will have to pass.

    • Another good important detail you picked up there.

Pays to keep an un-needed/unused, but still active sim around for these purposes.

Could you activate a sometimes free Telstra Sim or a $2 Optus sim just to port over to this Kogan offer? Can't see why not?!

      • An extra bit of plastic heading straight for landfill for the sake of a few bucks..?

        • +5

Most people don't fully think about and understand how your carbon footprint really works.

Depending on HOW you get your income/money ( some people travel by far by car for their jobs,

or do somewhat environmental consuming/polluting work ), it might be of less carbon footprint

impact to save say $5-$120 such as in this case and waste a small bit of plastic, than earning

that money. Hope you understand this logic as it can be correct in many cases.

ps. I still gave you an up vote for considering the environmental impact impact, as more people should.

          • @ozhunter68: That’s some seriously specious logic in this context, mate.

            • +1

@0jay: Had to look up the word "specious" lol. I know that situations of course vary dramatically, but Where/How you get And spend your money definitely has a environmental effect/contribution.

Just ask an environmentally conscious stock market investor.

I used to be an owner of one of the first Environmentally Friendly ( non/less toxic ) painting companies some years ago, and spent many hours re-searching and discussing this topic with many professionals over the years.

Don't believe all the Government/Green spiels as a lot is based on sustaining the $$$ economy more than actually saving/sustaining nature and our complete environment.

P.S. I did not give you a neg as I'm sure you have good intentions.

              • -2

@ozhunter68: Why exactly do y think I’d care if you’d negged me?

        • An extra bit of plastic heading straight for landfill

There is no problem with landfill.

The Earth will no longer support human life in 50 to 200 years because of climate change so even if landfill was a problem it wouldn't matter.

          • @Diji1: I can confirm that

          • @Diji1: "Diji1" Humans are survivors. Not the ones that live in Big Cities so much, but primitive

bush/rural people can. Looking at earth temperatures for thousands of years ago, now is

actually a lot cooler than it used to be at many stages. Many historians and

archaeologists are now starting to realize and agreeing that human history with advanced

civilizations goes back much further in history than we first were told/thought and what

is written in the bible, around 6000 yrs only.

            • -3

@ozhunter68: I guess you’re just a whole lot smarter than all the ecologists and climate scientists. Well done. Hope you are appropriately remunerated for your extraordinary intelligence and insight.

              • @0jay: All I will say is the truth is out there if you look for it with your eyes and ears open.

                • +1

@ozhunter68: You’re a smart one that’s for sure, no argument from me.

                  • @0jay: I'm glad that like so many other people we did not get into a sling match over this as it sounds like we both want to live in a clean, healthy, less toxic, environmentally sustainable world that hopefully us humans can adapt and thrive in going forward into the next century and beyond.

I certainly don't have a big income, but as I have time on my side I do read a lot, but not one side of the coin only.

                    Peace

                    • +1

@ozhunter68: I’m not your enemy but I strongly object to the vast bulk of what you’ve said. Just because you research does not mean you understand. It’s possibly the greatest problem we face today, the vastness of available content with little to no context for critical engagement.

                      • @0jay: Sure,I respect your viewpoint too. I used to be a strong advocate for human made climate change as well as peak oil, but the more I found out the more balanced my viewpoint became. Don't forget the difference when you research between "being right" or getting "the truth" or should we say closer to the truth as possible as this is a complicated matter.

I have become very open minded as I got older, as you learn that the people in positions of power and influence who profited the most and supposedly got us into this and now are coming up with answers/solutions/laws, not to mention making more profits too.

I am all for saving natural nature and the environment, reducing Chemicals in nature and our foods/drinks, No GMO, No Geo Engineering, Stop logging of old growth forests worldwide, reduce fishing worldwide, reduce bad mining practices, No Fracking and maybe Slow down the Human Population through education and birth control ( without the encouraging of Needless Wars ).

Don't forget it was warmer when the Vikings were settling in Greenland over 1000 yrs ago, and the part of Belgium where I from had the English Channel coming closer inland with shipping going all the way to Brugges, there are many middle age maps showing this as well as other places around the world with varying different coastlines. We adapted or in the vikings case they moved on, we will do the same now, hopefully naturally without draconian laws and false implementations under the guise of "Climate Emergency."

                        • @ozhunter68: I dod not say I respect your viewpoint (what did I say about critical engagement?). Nor at anytime have I been an advocate of environmental concerns. I’m fifty next year and quite simply past caring if you accept my point of view or not.

                          • @0jay: I wish you and your family a happy life, if your nearly 50 yrs old it's time to soften up a bit.

                            • @ozhunter68: And if you’re past 50 might be time to go back and do some formal study, harden up those critical thinking muscles.

                              Enjoy your evening.

  • If I already have a $2 Kogan sim card, can i just use the code to activate the 90 days? Also, how long does it take to get the code?

    • +2

Code will be sent to you pretty soon, but make sure you SIM is valid by going to activation page first.

Kogan SIM will expire now. Refer to:

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/499787

      • thanks for the help

        • All of the above, and when you purchase Kogan Voucher Code/Sim, you will receive it

in an email within 24hrs, sometimes in a couple of hours even.

  • thanks, needed up renew my daughters mobile next month

  • I think I've been paying five bucks a month for 20GB or more for a couple of years now. It's a PITA jumping through hoops so the private sector is still shit.

  • what happens after 90 days

    • Pay regular fee or find another company to port out

    • +1

They will charge you $99. Unless you disable auto-recharge. They send emails prior to the 90 day expiration giving options to recharge, but dont mention anything about auto-recharge being enabled by default. In their defence, Kogan refunded me the $99 when i called them. But I wouldnt be banking on it.

  • +2

This will go well with my new TCL Plex.

  • can i buy more than one voucher, and then just recharge another 90 days with the same number?

    • +1

VOUCHER MUST BE ACTIVATED BY 29 FEB 2020.

      • +1

shoulda read that before i bought one TT

        • +1

          New expiry date

The unique Kogan Mobile voucher included as part of this product cannot be redeemed for cash. Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEST on 30/06/2020. Activation or recharge must be made before the voucher expiry date.

  • I got on the 5 months/85 GB of data deal with Belong about a month and a half ago, but the data speeds are so slow… I'll still tough it out for the next couple of months, but the speeds I was getting when I was on the Kogan 12 month deal were so much better than Belong's.

  • Having previously been with Kogan I ported out to Amaysim to take advantage of the $40 unlimited data deal, I'm tempted to come back for this offer though.. will Kogan treat me as a 'new customer'?

    • +3

Yes. If your number wasn't with Kogan in the last 30 days then you are 'new' again.

I've been a "new customer" with Kogan mobile more than 10 times now (on the same email address and same CC).

      They clearly don't care…😉

      • Haha cheers mate, problem is this is my first month away from Kogan so if I port back before I go into the second month it won't be 30 days.

    • +4

The easiest way to confirm is to by logging to Kogan with your existing number and password which you previously been under them before, if it prompts you an invalid number message meaning you are totally out, hence can now jump back into them again!

      • +1

Really? Recently experience: it says "Invalid username or password" not long after the number was ported out.

        • +1

          Then maybe worth a try!

I've never done the shuffle back after less than 30 days (as I normally rotate between the Kogan 90 days offer and the Catch 90 days offer) so can't say from personal experience whether it will work or not.

Either way, if you are paying more than $60 p.a ($5 p/m) for your mobile plan, you are paying too much! :)

This is what I've been paying for 2 years now and had at least 20GB of data per month to chew through. I don't even use a quarter of that personally.

          • @ginmi: Out of curiosity, have you ever encountered any major problem porting between the two providers? Has every single port always been done and processed within reasonable timeframe?

            • +1

              @ifuggedxyz: Never.
Given the port is across different networks (Vodafone <> Optus), it was always done with no issues and extremely quickly (sometimes as quick as 10 minutes)

  • +1

Is this offer only available when we port in from to Kogan or is it also okay if we sign up for a new number?

    • -1

Porting in to Kogan and signing up with a new number is available on this.

      • According to Kogan you need to port in only.

PLEASE NOTE: TO ACTIVATE THIS VOUCHER, CUSTOMERS MUST BRING THEIR AUSTRALIAN MOBILE NUMBER TO KOGAN MOBILE. OFFER IS NOT VALID FOR CURRENT KOGAN MOBILE CUSTOMERS

As it does not mention activating an allocated Kogan New Number, it still May work, just can't be sure about it. YMMV.

        • +1

There's conflicting information on the website:

          BYO number and device

Want to keep your existing number? No problem. When signing up, you can choose to keep your existing number or get a new one – it’s that simple!

          • @lomie: Thanks, did not read that part. So only get it if you can port Any number over to Kogan, but also possibly as a new number if that works ( most likely ).

            • +1

@ozhunter68: I would tend to agree with you though because the port in part is noted at the top of the website.

  • Just wondering how long does it take to get the code emailed to you? does it get emailed only once the sim is posted or the same day of order?

  • +1

Sorry answer right in front of my eyes "After purchasing this product, you will be sent a unique Kogan Mobile vouchers by email within 24 hours and a Kogan Mobile SIM Starter Pack by post."

  • My last plan was with Kogan and ended over 30 days ago but I haven’t renewed with anyone else. Will it be valid for me?

    • +1

      According to Ts and Cs

TO ACTIVATE THIS VOUCHER, CUSTOMERS MUST BRING THEIR AUSTRALIAN MOBILE NUMBER TO KOGAN MOBILE.

  • Awesome.perfect timing as my Telstra contract is expiring end of this month.

  • 'New customer' in title please

  • +1

Been with Kogan for 2.5 years and nowadays the reception is pretty much sh*t in majority of the places.

  • How does this compare to Woolworths mobile?

  • slightly off topic:

does anyone know how Kogan checks/defines a new customer?

    • +2

If u havent been using their sim for the last 30 days, you r new customer

  • Recently Kogan coverage has become bad compared to CatchConnect.

    VIC Southeastern suburbs

I'm just waiting for changing to Catch

    • Thought it was just me.

It's strange though, service is still brilliant when in LTE+ range, but when falling back to LTE, it's total crap.

      • same here, i’m in northern vic.

        • In eastern suburbs and literally can't even load a web page?

  • What happens after the 90 days in terms of cost?

    • +3

$99.90 per 90 days. Ozbargain way: 90 days @ Kogan <=> 90 days @ Catch. Other great deal may break the loop occasionally.

      • +1

        You forgot amaysim

  • If I buy today, how likely I would receive it by Wednesday?

    • Voucher Code, Yes. Sim probably not.

  • SIM valid until what date? How long can I keep it without activating?

  • Nice why is expiry so soon though

    • It may be extended later like before.

    • New expiry date

  • What are the best tips and tricks from OzBargainers for mobile usage? Do you buy one of these and then port it out at the end of 3 months to the next deal? Are deals frequent enough to port around?

    • +2

Do you buy one of these and then port it out at the end of 3 months to the next deal?

      Yes.

Are deals frequent enough to port around?

      Yes.

Sometimes the timing between good deals may not work in your favour and if you miss one, you'll be left dry. In order to counter it, it may be best to lose a month of the current plan to jump on another one before it expires.

    • +2

If you dont text and call much but use plenty of data you may be better off with dual sims in a phone.

Have your regular number in as a long expiry and then just grab whatever deal to stick in as a 2nd sim and not worry about porting numbers as you are just using it for data.

      • Once you own a dual sim phone it's hard to even consider going back to single sim.

  • good to be used as port in - out solution, shame the activation period is bit too short, will missed this deal, thanks for sharing though

    • Most likely it will extend.

      • +1

Possibly. But if you want/need this sim to be activated After 29th Feb, then wait and check back to see if Kogan extends that date Before Purchase.

The Voucher Code Expires on the date that was listed when purchased.

        • +1

Absolutely. For the current deal it will expire 29 Feb, no more no less.

              • @username999: It's what the email says

Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEST on 29/02/2020.

              • @username999: Same here, I activated mine yesterday and it was expired. Good thing I called the help centre and explained that I forgot to activate it on time. They issued me a new voucher instead.

            • @chadiwrx: says the same for me.

also saying code is invalid… did they just make it so only for new NEW customers?
