Belong $25 Starter Pack for $10 @ Coles

630

Belong Mobile 10GB Starter Pack Features

  • 10GB Data (+10GB double data on the 1st billing cycle)
  • Unlimited data banking.
  • Unlimited data gifting.
  • No lock-in contracts.
  • Telstra 4G & 3G.
  • 12 month SIM expiry (from the purchase date)

There are 2 options for using this starter pack. Either way, before you activate make sure you get a promo code from a friend already with Belong or the OzBargain Belong pool for an additional $20 credit.

Option 1 (4 Months 5GB) - Start out on the $10 1GB per month plan. When the first billing cycle comes you'll already have 1GB data plus you get another 1GB (Double Data). The first 4 months cost is covered ($25 starter pack credit plus $20 referral credit). $5.00 will be left over for the 5th month.

Option 2 (3 Months 22GB) - Start out on the $25 10GB per month plan. When the first billing cycle comes you'll already have 10GB data plus you get another 10GB (Double Data). Then switch to the $10 1GB per month plan on the 2nd month. The first 3 months cost is covered ($25 starter pack credit plus $20 referral credit) and you'll have 22GB banked which never expires and can be used or gifted.

Double Data (1st month)
If you want double data DO NOT port/activate on these dates 4th, 12th, 20th, 28th. These are the start of new billing cycles. They are the same every month.
One month worth of data is credited on activation, and another on your first payment date, 1-8 days later. So you effectively get double data for the first monthly payment.

Porting hours of operation are: (taken from Whirlpool wiki)

  • Mon to Fri: 8am – 8pm (AEDST/AEST)
  • Saturdays: 10am – 6pm (AEDST/AEST)
  • National Public Holidays: Closed (Ports are not processed on these days)

If you request to port your number outside operating hours, your service will remain active with your existing provider until the next porting day. That being said, there are Belong mobile customers who've experienced successful porting outside these days/hours mentioned above.

  • For option 2 if you downgrade plan you don't lose the banked data?
Other providers (eg Aldi) if you do that you'll lose the rollover/banked data.

Correct. You don't lose the data.

anyone churned to belong from cirles recently, any tips? should the account number from the bill be put with first 2 letters or just the numbers?

    • I want to know this too. My free month offer ending this month. Also, I can see only the customer I'd in the bill not the account number. Assuming this is to be used for porting out, how do we handle 2 alphabets in customer I'd?

      • i'm fairly sure customer ID == account number.

but unsure if 2 letters should be included when porting or not, remember reading some horror stories when churn took a week because of that

        • +3

Circles.Life account numbers starts with letters such as "aw-" etc followed by numbers.

Many services provider activation page does not allow you to enter Letters during porting request

So you have to contact technical team to get added otherwise you will be in limbo.

Don't do porting on weekends if you are with circle.life.

Also Belong does not have any customer care phone number. You have to raise support tickets and wait for 24 hours for reply.

          Thanks

          • @vr4indian: OK, so belong seems to accept the letters in the account number field, BUT Circles.life do not exist in their drop down list of Current mobile providers. The only option seems to be to select "Do not know" as the current provider?

            • +1

@powerhead: "I don't know" was what I chose AND used letters in the account number and the port from Circles went through quickly and on Australia Day Monday to boot - was not expecting it until the Tuesday. YMMV.

  • I assumed this will be counted as spending for the extra 10,000 flybuy points, anyone can confirms this?

    • YES.

  • +2

Guys stay away from belong if you ever need customer support you will be sending endless emails to a computer that sends generic emails back

  • If I understand correctly. If I went with Option 1, for an outlay of $10 I will be covered for 4 months, with $5 left over.

Assuming I use virtually no data, this will be my data balance:

    • Month 1: 2 GB data
    • Month 2: 4 GB data
    • Month 3: 6 GB data
    • Month 4: 8 GB data

If I continue to pay $10/m (where I can't be bothered to port etc), I will continue to rack up my data balance.

    Is that correct?

Apart from Aldi mobile (and Belong), are there any other providers that do unlimited data rollovers on low-end plans?

    • No, one month worth of data is credited on activation, and another on your first payment date, 1-8 days later. So you effectively get double data for the first monthly payment. The following months on the $10 plan is 1GB.

Have a read of the Belong Wiki on Whirpool under Billing and Payments
That might explain it better than my description.

      • Ah yeah. Just noticed. Thanks.

So three of these (ports) should cover me for the whole year.

        • I don't really understand what you are saying because you can't port from Belong to Belong.

          • @Arthur Dunger: I mean don't you have to port out then port back in to take advantage of this deal?

            • @iwearpants: This is a starter pack, so you can either port in or just activate it and Belong will give you a new number. If you port out then I'm not sure how long you need to stay out before you're considered a new customer.

You could however buy 2 of these and activate the 2nd one in a family member's name and use your referral code which will give both $20 credit (2 months on the $10 plan)

Just be carefull you don't breach the acceptable use policy.

              • @Arthur Dunger: OK yeah, i got confused. Port out and port in will negate this deal because you'll lose the accumulated data.

Dayum, take my upvote for the detailed info in your post. Cheers for that.

    • Haha thanks. 3 other members started it who I credited in the description, then I just added to it.

Belong is still the best deal going. I think I have about 200 GB banked, that never expires.

    • keep it! in 10yrs time it might be worth as 200 KB nowadays ;)

Can you donate it to a data underprivileged kid so they can instagram or something?

      • +1

Nice idea, but only Optus does that

        • +1

If you happen to know the number of a data underprivileged kid you can donate your data to them with belong.

  • Another option is to use a referral code to activate, so by activation you will have $45 credit.
Activate the $40 plan for 40GB data - with first month double data, you will have 80GB to use. Any data left will be carried over to the next month.
Then switch to $10 plan for the coming months.

    • How long does it take for $20 referral credit to be appeared in your account?

    • Have you actually done this yourself?

  • I am lost at "If you want double data DO NOT port/activate on these dates 4th, 12th, 20th, 28th"?

    • +1

Belong doesn't bill on the day you port over. They bill on those 4 days of the month.

So if you port on say the 10th then you will get the data you signed up for to use on the 2 days before they bill you when they give u another data recharge.

Those 2 days of usage and the data is considered free

  • activation was a bumpy ride, but I got there in the end. thank you! perfect addition to the recent Dell Latitude LTE deal. now I don't have to connect my mobile phone to my laptop all the time :D

  • Anyone know if the $25 starter can be used with $40 plan on activation; 80GB on first activation is tempting
