160

Long time ozbargainer, first time posting, sorry for any mistakes.

TGG cost of $999 (maybe price match with Mayer $959?) + $100 TGG credit + $90 Nespresso coffee credit brings the price down to $809.00.

Please note this is the PRO version, not PLUS that was selling a few weeks ago for $502.99 here mistakenly

Note 2: no one is forcing you to buy a capsule coffee for this price tag. These machines are well known for the milk frother.

Note 3: not the cheapest as here $767.20 when was 20% off TGG.

    Lol

Wow that’s a lot for a pod machine when they all do the same thing

    • +8

Don't understand why this even exists… if you're paying that much, why not buy a real coffee machine like the barisa pro

      • +4

Exactly. And saying that it saves time is ridiculous because a $150 gives you the same result. So why not spend about 90-120 seconds more each time and grind and make your own? I have the Breville Bambino Plus and Smart Pro grinder and I can get so close to the top coffee shops (i.e. Mecca, Industry Beans, Brother Baba Budan, Gumption) with the right beans. Where as these nespresso machines give you expensive dish water.

        • Where as these nespresso machines give you expensive dish water.

What kind of Nespresso machine do you own?

        • +5

To be fair, it's not comparable. If I make a fresh brew with fresh ground beans, it MIGHT taste really good. The problem with cheap products is that you get wildly varying tastes due to the oils/age of beans etc. With nespresso you put the pod in press a button and you get the same taste over and over. I use a third party biodegradable pod/coffee producer and I get coffee that is better than the majority of shitty cafe's near me. I can make a much nicer coffee, IF I have fresh beans that have not been in hot environments, but overall there are far too many variables in play. My Nespresso coffees are no where near Mecca on a good day, but I've had some shit coffees there too. I would take a fresh Mecca coffee delivered to my door over my own made coffee any day, until then I will pop a pod in my machine and press a button having a fresh coffee made with zero mess. Again, these are for convenience, not tasting like mecca coffee.Obviously if you wanted that you would spend thousands in research and tools/machines to get there, with many different milks/techniques.

          • @onlinepred: I agree 100% that these are for convenience. However a $150 one will give you the same results. Having had a lot of nespresso from many different pods and machines I can safely say my Bambino Plus delivers a better coffee every time so I don't buy the consistency claim. Even if you use month old beans that have just been stored in the bag it will provide a better result but throw in proper storage (i.e. Airscape) or fresher beans and there's no comparison.

            • @C0mbat: The Bambino is a good entry level for sure, you won't get the same consistency in the milk using the automatic feature. And you will notice the difference, as even an hour or two after being ground you will notice the difference. I can tell the difference from pre ground and fresh ground of the same roast easily, and you can visibly see it in the crema after a brew. If I was going to spend more than a $150 machine, I would be looking at a better setup personally. Although I have an old grinder, I would prefer to get an all in one to save space and effort - while also having more control over the grind, dose etc - as any decent coffee nut will tell you, you will need to adjust it for every new ground.

very expensive pod machine I must say… I'm waiting for Breville Barista Express/Pro to go on offer which is actually a decent coffee machine with built in coffee grinder and it still costs less on full price compared to this.

  • +8

If paying that much for pod machine, I'd rather get a barrister (yes, not barista) doing it for me every day.

    • +1

id pay for a stupid barrister to make me coffee too

u got a good business here del ur comment and head to SF

  • +1

That seems like a stupid price, they are usually like $600. Maybe not in chrome perhaps?

I paid this much for a Breville Barista Touch which is a proper fresh bean to cup machine with an LCD screen, grinder, etc.

    • Not the pro. $600~ is the plus one

It's always amusing seeing the words Nespresso and Coffee talked about in the same sentence.
This machine reminds me of the Sunbeam Torino. Both look liked and cost the same entry model boiler machines but alas they are not.

Though Sunbeam does deserve credit for the 6910 which was a good thermal block machine but at 2k for a Torino thermal block, that is just silly. $999 for the Nespresso water dyeing machine? Even more silly.

People, get yourselves a Breville BES920 and with the change get the machine smart grinder or research and spend a little more.
Nothing beats fresh coffee that is freshly ground.

Although I do are with you, nothing beats convenience either. Paid $150 7 years ago for a Nespresso machine, still works like new, put a pod in and done.

  • +1

Please note this is the PRO version, not PLUS

of which the difference is negligble
not sure how anyonee could justify an extra few hundred bucks for it

I had the Creatista Plus (before moving to a Breville dual boiler). Good pod machine, excellent milk frother, and sometimes miss the ease of use, but now way is ~$800+ on a pod machine ozbargain post worthy ;)

  • +2

For that sort of money grab yourself the breville dual boiler and smart grinder, although admittedly, a much bigger footprint.

  • So what is the difference between the Plus and Pro?

I have the Plus and it’s great!!

  • +1

Im a black coffee drinker and my personal opinion is that coffee shops 9/10 times make a crap coffee. I dont know about grind coffee machines. Maybe you guys at home make better coffee then the stores? Or maybe everyone has coffee with milk? But pod machines give me a great coffee every time with minimal fuss and almost no effort.

    • +3

If true, the cheapest Nespresso machine will do the same for you

      • Lol actually your right my parents coffee machine cost $200 a few years back and its only slightly worse then my new Creatista Uno. But then I knew I was paying more for the milk froth capabilities, so i could creates good hot chocolates for my gf :)

      • Yep with the coffee but not with the milk

        • Of which you buy the brevelle milk frother for $130ish. If you want a steam wand, you can also buy far better more serviceable ones for less.

          • @onlinepred: The Aerocinno is no where as good as the Creatista milk wand

            • @Twisty: The creatista wand is not worth $800. The Brevelle Milk Frother is easier to use and service, more accurate also.

              • @onlinepred: Yes not worth the $$

I have both and the milk is loads better with the Creatista plus. Saying that, the Oracle Steam wand is even better ;)

              • @onlinepred: I believe the milk wand on this is the same as I paid for Creatista Uno https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/528809

Im not trying to justify the price and honestly I dont know much about this version but theres also the LCD display and build quality i.e stainless steel front.

This is not the first case of the most premium version of a brand being unjustifiably expensive to an Ozbarganers perspective.

    • There's a great little nespresso machine available on the Delonghi factory seconds site for $72. I don't mind pods either but why pay so much for the machine?

  • +1

I guess the milk frother part of this machine is worth $700-800?! XD

  • $796 via TGG commercial btw OP. Bite the bullet on Creatista Uno just the other week, but Pro is like 2x the price..

    • link for reference? - anyway, deal excludes commercial

  • This kind of thing makes me really glad that I enjoy instant coffee (ok, I put sugar in it to make it sweet and drinkable).

    • You psychopath. Also covering it with sugar to make it drinkable….. so you don't enjoy it at all…. you need sugar to make it drinkable.

      • I need to add sugar to any coffee I drink to be honest. I can't drink coffee without it.

        • make dalgona coffee then

    • I think Nespresso drinkers also need 10 sugars and milk to make their coffee drinkable.
I mean seriously, why is Nespresso even a thing anymore?
I can reuse put my coffee grounds in the garden. Try doing that with pods.

      • I think Nespresso drinkers also need 10 sugars and milk to make their coffee drinkable.

Nah not really. Anyone who adds sugar to their coffee can drink tea instead.
