i used to work for myers, and the profit of apple products is 10%.

Depends what device really. Typically the more expensive it is, the more the student discount begins to shine. At ~$1000, they're pretty awful and you might as well wait for these deals.

I often see negative scores on ozbargain when merchants advertise their deals by only giving 10% discount, members here seem very disgusted by the little deal and that is right.
So why now this deal got so many plus? Too many Mac employees??
Because Macs are a controlled product, their price is fixed most of the time - so you will be hard pressed to get any discount at all, until promos like these come along. You can go to static ice to find better prices on a host of other electrical/electronic goods, but apple products will pretty much be the same price across the board, unless grey imports.
I knew that Mac = no competition but if you guys are happy, keep going with it :)
It's not about the competition.
Most Apple resellers won't make more than 10% profit on Hardware, but not the case for AppleCare, software etc.
Anyway, it's your money just spend it wisely :)
If there's ever a 15% or 20% discount for Macs, the 10% discount will viewed as less favourable and won't have much +ve anymore.
The thing is there's has NOT been anything more than 10% discount yet so far. So 10% is still very favourable.
The best way is to stack this with other discounts, eg discounted wish cards, using woolworths/dse employee discount and then claim GST. A lot of effort though.

Also, Apple will price match this if you prefer to buy direct from Apple. Useful if you want to customise your mac as users have reported being able to customise and still apply the 10% discount, or even have 10% applied on the base system and then just pay for the upgrades at whatever the normal price is - both things which you can't do with the DSE deal as their's is for base systems only.

Inyeah, we have had people working on it all day. It was a very random database issue so we had to find a way of resolving the problem without introducing any new issues.
We have fixed the problem now and tested that it is all working fine.
