    You wouldn't be able to use this offer if it applied to .net anyway as it's a new registration offer. Unfortunately, renewal offers are far in between most of them are for new registrations.

    Porkbun renewal price from what I can tell is pretty decent considering you would have to go with a lesser registrar in my opinion to get a cheaper price. To do better you would probably have to switch it to Cloudflare however that doesn't suit everyone's setup situation.

  Another noob question: if I get domain with GoDaddy, am I restricted to GoDaddy for web hosting or can I use another web hosting company with a GoDaddy registered domain?

    Yes you'll be able to use your go daddy registered domain name with any web hosting provider.
