    Only up to 1080p.

  • 2nd image shows thunderbolt and dp both, but thunderbolt is no where in the description. Want to buy for thunderbolt, should I risk it?

    • Probably not. This cable will do the job but as per above limited max resolution and I wouldn't trust cheaper cables for something that would benefit from Thunderbolt. There are no shortage of odd issues that come up as a result of cheaper cables even for simple HDMI. You don't need to spend more than $10-15 either to get something that won't cause you headaches.

      • Would you know of a good thunderbolt one on a bargain? Thanks in advance

        Complete bollocks.

Buy the cheapest cables you can find.

        • Depends on your luck, I have bought a few cheap branded ones before and 2 out of the 3 didnt work.

          • @SpeedRunnerLink: Agree. I had 1 cheap $2 HDMI cable that couldn't do ACR, another that could do ACR but every time I turned on the downlights audio would cut out. All resolved by replacing with a new $5 Amazon Basics cable.

        • Listen to the all knowing Diji1 if you are content with 1080p max resolution, he clearly is!

  • i have a couple of these from AliExpress or eBay or somewhat for about the same price. They work well.

  • Bought one for $2 delivered - https://www.ebay.com/itm/313050323305

My 2 cents. The cheap (sub $5) ones work, but the HDMI head pulls off, or the wiring inside cracks from flexing etc and you need to bend it to get it to work etc. If you need one daily for work, pay extra. If it's just sitting in the back of a tv not moving, get a cheapie.

  • This looks identical to this one, which costs $7.95 but free shipping if you’ve got Prime: Mini Display Port DisplayPort DP to HDMI Female Cable Adapter for MacBook Pro Air Retina Mac iMac Mac Mini,DELL XPS 12 MLK 13 14 15 17,Surface Pro 1-4 https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07P39MQY2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i…

  • is this an active or passive cable?

    • There's no way this is active

  • this is to convert the source from mini dp-to-hdmi right ?

will this work the other way round - mini dp monitor-to-hdmi source ?

Anyone seen any deals on 4K / 4K 60fps mini DP to HDMI?

  • I got one from eBay for 7ish$ and the monitor keeps turning off once for a while. Monitor is 4K 40 inch and laptop is 2015 air MacBook. I wonder if it's because of the cheap adapter ?branded adapters cost around 20-30$

had similar issues with my Surface Pro and external monitor. Bought a cheap “active” mini DP to HDMI cable from eBay and everything is working fine since then

      • Thanks, will get one to test.

  • This is now sold out.
