This is my wife's sons favourite drink

  • +2

Not much of a deal unless you really really prefer this over other soy milks.
    Postage basically kills it anyway

    • +1

Fair enough. I stocked up on a few other things so I hit the $200 min. for delivery. (Rice and meat, etc).

    • Agreed, the postage is like JFC

  • Is there somewhere like this in Sydney?

  • +2

Thanks OP, seems like their warehouse is only a few minutes drive from my house. Ordered pick up.

  • +1

Hey OP, have you tried Bonsoy before? I am a very big fan of Bonsoy, but wouldn't mind trying out Soyboy as i'm quite curious if there's any noticable difference in taste between the two brands.

    • +2

I've tried Bonsoy but not this one yet. I'll find out when I get my order. My usual go to for sou is the pandan (green coloured) soy milk from asian super markets. but thats more sugary/sweet.
I'm not much a soy drinker but doctor said i'm getting fat so…here we are.

      • Awesome, looking forward to your review when you get the chance to try it out! Oh now that you mention pandan soy milk i want to try that it out now. I've only really drink the normal coloured sweet soy bean drink e.g (Vamino soy milk in those glass bottles) I wonder if it's the same sweetness as the original soy bean drink.

      • +1

Um. If you drink the pandan soy milk from Asian supermarkets you're really a soy milk drinker BUT! Lots of people like them. They're too watery for me, so I'm looking forward to trying Soyboy. Bonsoy doesn't hit that soy flavour notes, I'm afraid so far the brands sold locally are trying very hard to pass of soy milk to taste like cow's milk. Thanks for the post!

        • haha i should've maybe said i haven't tried many other soymilk. just vamino and pandan mainly.
i find a lot of…western (?) soy milks to be watery. or maybe its the almond mil, but my wife enjoys that.

@nekoakuma: Oh speaking of, @nekoakuma if you're reducing… whatever your doctor said… Yenson does unsweetened soy milk and it's thicker than the brands that do the pandan one, better soy flavour profile. From here you get a choice to put in your own sweetener (low calorie, low GI sweetener, blend with fig/dates, etc.) so you can control each time.

@MysticalWok Generally Asians drink soy milk straight (most of the time sweetened) while locally soy milk is used to replace cow's milk in coffee or other beverages so they tone down the soy flavour in order to preserve as much of the coffee flavour. Soy milk locally is more a vegan alternative to cow's milk so they try to make the flavour as close as possible to cow's milk which means removing the soy flavours. So you'll find the preference is different depending on usage.

        • Hm, in terms of Bonsoy where would you rate it in your Soy Milk tier list, if you were comparing it against all of the other brands sold here locally? I've noticed that quite recently a lot of cafes are using Milk Lab Soy Milk.

          • @MysticalWok: I find Happy happy soy boy and Bonsoy quite similar, enough that I'd get either, but IMO Bonsoy still has an edge on taste. HHSB seems to have a bit less sweetness and has a very subtle saltiness about it.

A few coffee shops I asked say that they moved to HHSB somewhat for a marginally better price but mainly for logistical reasons - apparently HHSB has a better distribution network, whatever that means for them.

I own a speciality cafe and my customers were the strictly Bonsoy only crowd. I trialled this with a small group of customers and they all raved that it's better. It's also easier for us to work with. I use it at home and I can't go back to Bonsoy now. It's far superior in my opinion and it's also the consensus of all of my picky customers! That price is also very good.

alright so i got mine today. I actually love this more than Bonsoy.
It's actually soy bean milk, as opposed to Soy milk if that makes sense. i don't find it watery, and sweet enough with being sugary.

(this is me drinking it straight; i don't do soy in coffee.)

      • Thanks nekoakuma for getting back with your impressions on the Soyboy. Seeing how you like it more than Bonsoy, i will make a note of this and will definitely start buying it once this deal comes back again. Do you know if JFC does these deals for the Happy Soy Boy often?

        • first time i've seen it actually.
looks like thecrueltyfree store does it for $5.95, so the new price is still quite good.

    I don't think soyboys are ever happy…

    • well you're (profanity) wrong.

    • +11

They are when their wife’s boyfriend buys then a new Switch.

  • +1

I wonder who's in the demographic targeted by this drink, that actually gets the ren and stimpy pun.

    • Came here for the Ren and Stimpy jokes, probably too obscure nowadays though.

    • Doesn't really matter, if cafes buy it for frothing it gets a reputation for that.

  • +2

Bonsoy is superior to this. However it probably ranks second in flavour.
Bonsoy is also organic non gmo soybeans which is the only type of soybeans we should be drinking.

    • +1

happy soyboy website also says non-gmo soybeans.

      • It is non gmo but it’s not organic. I’m very particular with soy beans as the heath side effects from gmo non organic soy beans are carcinogenic from my previous research. More so on the gmo side . However I err on the side of caution and ensure that it’s always organic and non gmo.
That’s a personal thing but also because I really worry about the heath perspective.

I introduced it to my customers in a popular inner city speciality coffee shop and not one person said they preferred Bonsoy to this. We made the switch and now people come in asking specifically for soyboy.

Thanks! I bought 1L + 220 packets of Udon Noodles in order to get free shipping!

Make sure that both your sons and your wife's boyfriend's sons drink this everyday so they don't develop toxic masculinity traits and literally establish patriarchal rule again!
Should be mandatory in schools to be honest.

I prefer to support Australian farmers and industries.

Excellent soy for frothing. Lots of cafes use it and it tastes great.
