    Queue uniformed "The isn't a deal, it's RRP!!! comments…

    • got it!

    • +10

      The RRP is $469….

      So, yes it's a deal.

    • +13

      Cue, not queue…

      • +7

They're queueing to get their uniforms.

        • +1

lol. I didn't even notice that one..

    • +1

I agree, I'll wait till they go back to $399 or less in a few months. People can say $369 is RRP, but they never sold for that price, not even on launch day mine as was $447 at BigW.
I sold mine launch day one for $550 a couple of weeks ago.

      • If anyone says the RRP is $369 they're lying. It's listed as $469 on Nintendo's website.

      • There are another 20 million units in production that should reach us by May or June so I definitely think there will be more deals coming (once the rush dies down).

I'm in the same boat as you, I literally just sold my switch as I'd played everything and on the same day they announced all the Mario Maker 2 content /irony

      • +1

Just remember the AUD is down against the other currencies, so it makes less incentive to be marking down to old prices. That said, it makes buying at discounts even better!

        • True and I'll be tempering my expectations. I've seen them as cheap as $320 in the past but I'd be happy with sub $400 (hopefully with a digital code).

          • @hiimfinly: old switch or new switch?

            • @ATangk: Hmm I'll be honest I'm not sure. You can view them on Ozbargain if you're interested. How long has the new switch been out?

Old or new I think we'll see sub $400 again either way.

  • anyone seen any in melb?

    • +1

Catch of the day. Mine arrived in 2 days

    • Wantirna South (Knox) is showing as in stock when i check website

  • +1

stock is showing stock for numerous places in melbourne, but when i call the physical store they've confirmed no stock.

    • people going to buy it very fast. be quick

    • I had the same thing last week, and when I told them the website says you do, they said ok "lemme check out back" and surely enough the truck had literally just delivered them… So sometimes the staff may not know themselves…

    • +1

Sounds a bit like a bait and .

  • +11

I hope all the low life's trying to make $100s of profit with private sales are left with items they don't want….

    • +6

      Like toilet paper?

      • yep. lots of them tried to sell it in ebay or gumtree around $600

    • +5

      Humans can be quite disgusting

      • +11

If this is the level that humanity need stoop to, to be labeled disgusting by you, you're going to be in for a rude awakening when true atrocities come to your attention.

        • +6

Plenty of ways to be disgusting

        • +11

No I'm fully aware of the atrocities that are out there. That doesn't mean this isn't a disgusting thing to do, it's probably the same people hoarding toilet paper and trying to sell them at $100 a roll. To me, trying to take advantage of others, especially in a situation like this, is disgusting.

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: It's a game console not some essential medical supplies. If people wanna pay me hundreds of dollars to pick up a console for them I'm gonna let them.

            • @Buyingcrap: $550 pm me

            • +1

@Buyingcrap: Right so it's okay to try to take advantage of others for certain items but not others? Who's to say I can't justify hoarding toilet paper and selling it at crazy prices because someone is willing to pay me for it?
Most of the time, it's not they're paying you to pick it up, it's they're paying you because there's none in store since there are people who buy it and try to resell it. I bet someone tried buying it from the store before online, they didn't pay you to pick it up.

              • -3

@[Deactivated]: People need toilet paper (sort of). People don't need a Nintendo. Why you so salty bro?

                • +2

@Buyingcrap: You're the one who replied to me. I'm just saying it doesn't what the product is, it's doing the same thing. It'$ taking advantage of a bad situation, it doesn't matter what it is.

It's not that I want a switch or anything, it's just this type of action and this type attitude why the world is a pretty shit place to live in. I'm just disappointed.

How can someone do the same thing as someone else, condemn it, and then justify themselves doing the same thing because they decide what what's appropriate and what's not. How about people stop being scummy and just not do it?

Doing it for a basic neccesity just makes it scummier, it doesn't mean the act isn't disgusting.

                  • -3

@[Deactivated]: I literally don't feel bad about it at all.

                    • +6

@Buyingcrap: Oh…I didn't know you were actually doing it, I thought you were talking figuratively. Yeah nah, if I knew you were actually doing it, I wouldn't bother arguing. I know people like you would never feel bad about it, that's what makes them disgusting. It's this vague line of how they justify themselves that they will never feel bad. They will always try to justify it in some way or form to sleep at night. "I'm just a delivery service charging $200 for delivery the kid who's parents on median income that doesn't get to play doesn't matter, he won't die, it's not essential, it's alright, I'll choose who to give it to". None of the CEOs of big pharma in America probably feel bad either. They probably just use a more sick and twisted logic than "it's not essential". People just accept the scum they are. If you're not going to make the world a better place, at the very least, don't make it a worse one.

                      Sorry for wasting your time.

      • +1

        Humans can be quite disgusting

        Humans can be quite hyperbolic.

        • -1

No, it's not a hyperbole. Some humans can figuratively and literally be quite disgusting.

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: If your judgement pertains to someone reselling a game console for a profit, then yes, it is indeed hyperbolic.

            • -2

@dm01: Whether you beat up an adult or a child, they're both bad, ones just worse than the other. I don't care what the item is, if someone is taking advantage of a bad situation or someone else, I'm gonna call it disgusting. Because even toilet paper, face masks and hand sanitizer could be argued as non-essential.

If I take advantage of a girl for sex, a lonely elderly for money or someone's gambling addiction for money. It's disgusting. It doesn't matter what form you do it, in the end, it's taking advantage of someone for money. It just doesn't appear as bad because it's through a Nintendo switch.

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: Nah, no one is forcing anyone to buy a game console - no one has been taken advantage of.

Your viewpoint - as well as your poor attempt to present an analogy - is terrible.

                • -1

@dm01: So you wouldn't be annoyed if it was something you wanted? That every time you went to buy it, it's sold out due to people trying to resell it online? It's probably easy if someone has lots of money to not care about it but not everyone is in the same boat.

What word would you describe these people then? Smart? Opportunistic?

                  • +1

                    @[Deactivated]:

So you wouldn't be annoyed if it was something you wanted?

Oh gawd, I didn't realise people were feeling annoyed that they can't buy a Nintendo for RRP! Why didn't you mention this to begin with? Such an injustice!

That you've tried to liken the above to sexual or physical assault victims is the only disgusting thing here.

                    • -1

@dm01: No, it was your logic that says since no one made them buy it, it's okay. I was showing instances of where people don't make anyone do anything. It was extreme yes but it shows why that excuse isn't appropriate. I'm not saying they're equivalent, I'm just pointing out that it's something that shouldn't be done. That it doesn't matter the severity, if it's bad, it's bad.

Oh gawd, I didn't realise people were feeling annoyed that they can't buy a Nintendo for RRP! Why didn't you mention this to begin with? Such an injustice!

Yeah I'm sure that's what you'd tell people who couldn't get their hands on toilet paper or pasta either. I just fail to see how the same act can be justified in one situation and not another depending on the item.

                      • +1

                        @[Deactivated]:

That it doesn't matter the severity, if it's bad, it's bad.

Of course it matters - that's why you go to jail for some things and not not others.

You're unable to seperate discretionary spending from essential purchases - this is why you've had to resort to ridiculous comparisons to justify your outrage-brigade viewpoint.

                        • @dm01: The question is, whether it's a good thing or not. That's all I'm saying. It doesn't matter what your opinion on the item is.

Again, what's really essential? Food, water, clothing maybe? Everything outside of this, is free for all?

                          • +1

                            @[Deactivated]:

The question is, whether it's a good thing or not. That's all I'm saying. It doesn't matter what your opinion on the item is.

No, that's not all you're saying. You're calling humans disgusting for flipping a games console, and comparing them to those who commit sexual assault or beat up a child.

Once again, you're unable to seperate discretionary spending from essential purchases and your comparisons are foolish.

                            • @dm01: I wasn't comparing, I was just addressing your point that just because you don't make them do something, it's perfectly ok.

We can agree to disagree, but if someone came up to me and said, I'm trying to buy Nintendo switches as possible to sell them at a mark up so I can make money since people are desperate for them, I probably wouldn't want to associate with them. And yeah I would call that disgusting because people are just trying to make lives at home more bearable spend some time gaming with family or reliving old games and they're trying to capitalize on that.

        • +1

That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

    • Ebgames has many stores listed as available stock. Surely people check this right?

    • -3

Glad I have them wasting their negs on me…. if that's you on Facebook with $600 firm, stick it :)

Seen some nearer $1000 and some of those weren't even new….

      • +1

There's quite a few negging people around. Pretty disappointing, at least contribute to the discussion.

        • Oh I don't mind at all, I enjoy it. I'd love to see everyone of them get angry at me and neg me.

I have no time for scalpers.

There are many on FB near me advertising multiple consoles, pretty clear what they are doing.

Glad Nintendo is upping production too.

    • +1

We need to make alt gumtree accounts and set up meetings and not show up.

      Or is that too mean?

      • It's also funny seeing the people who tried to make good money with Galaxy S20s and the phone not turning out to be as popular as everyone may have expected.

What I did notie though…. a complete lack of Mini NES and SNES available now…. they are sky rocketing again. Wanted to buy my cousins kids one… guess not.

        • I've seen some ads requiring a deposit on pickup. Yikes!

        • People thought a flagship Samsung phone would be popular? How strange.

Even iPhone releases don't attract much scalping these days. There's generally enough stock for the ever shrinking market of people who can actually afford to buy them when their old phone is probably still working fine.

      • People are already doing that, there are also bots that auto reply to listings and try to get your email address. It's a fun game, I'm enjoying it even more than playing with the actual consoles.

    • Well if someone was willing to pay $1500 for my animal crossing new horizons edition switch to play early access animal crossing, I'm not gonna say no.

      • Limited edition models aren't exactly what I was talking about.

Pretty sure you didn't list it for the purchase price either but hey…

        • It was more like $1290 after ebay fees, but If people are willing to throw their government benefits around. I'll be there to catch some it.

          • @Bombdigidy: If you paid $200 in ebay fees you are really doing it wrong….

I also wouldn't be selling such an item on ebay, it's extremely easy to be scammed. Cash pickup only for something you aren't prepared to lose.

            • @scuderiarmani: I didn't renew ebay plus,so I couldnt take advantage of whatever final value discount they currently have and it was a kind of in the moment sort of thing since I didnt know about the shortage until a few days animal crossing released.

But not worried about being scammed anymore since I print the postage label off of ebay themselves with signature confirmation and insurance for the value the item sold for, and paypal have payed me out of pocket when people go straight to their bank to chargeback the few times they have.

              • +1

@Bombdigidy: eBay plus hasn't given me a discount for listings literally at all this second time around.

Gumtree allows you to import it for free.

Your protection measures while good can still be stuffed around by some of the better scammers.

                • @scuderiarmani: I usually do poke around their ebay profile to see If they make any other high value purchases and the account is used frequently, and cancel if I don't like what I see.

I do agree that that I could end up dealing with a career scammer eventually so I actually do heed to your advice of not selling things I'm not willing to lose, as I only sell hobby items to fund my other hobby habits. In this case I was playing animal crossing on my older switch and was disappointed at all the missing features that the previous new leaf game had. Which also factored in to me having a peek into the box of the limited edition new horizon console and not being as impressed with how the console looks in person. So my sellings on ebay have felt like hobby investments, while I would be bummed and annoyed, I realistically see myself getting over it pretty quickly if it did happen.

catch.com.au also has them in stock: https://www.catch.com.au/event/nintendo-switch-console-acces…

DOnt forget your amex offer as well

    • nice! wait for them so long

    • thanks!

    • Noob question: Would this come with the exact same contents as JB?

      • +1

It should be exactly the same as they are not bundling it with anything.

    • Forgot to add: $449 at catch.

    • Thanks mate. Got one. Is it worth getting the pro controller to play on TV or would the ones that come with it suffice?

      • +3

The pro controller is the best controller you can get for the switch but it's quite expensive. If you're gonna primarily play it on the TV and can afford it then get it, otherwise the joycons would suffice

      • Pro-controller is totally worth it. I even use it when going hand held, like when flying. They are over-priced atm, mine was about $75.

    • what is the amex offer?, cannot see any catch offers on the app?
