I've compiled a table of stock levels. (Thanks jamestownfx for the I/N.) Looks like there's heaps available in a lot of stores.

Note that I've only omitted stores showing zero for the stock count, leaving in the negatives, as I'm a little confused as to how a new line could have a negative stock count. (The only thing I can think of is that Bunnings have reused a deleted line's I/N without zeroing off the stock counts!)

Just to repeat - if a store isn't listed in the table, it has a zero stock count.

      • 🤔 You stuffed up the Low Stocks 😉 - there's "2 Ulladulla" and "2 Campbelltown" in the main table.

Plus you have a negative ("-2 Oaklands Park") in there too.

        • Thanks for finding that…

Didn't cache that request, but i'll look into it.

The Low Stock is decided by Bunnings, not myself… :S

    • Great work!
Negatives are generally caused by inventory being sold prior to invoices being updated with the received stock.

      • But also (more likely?) via wrong picks and incorrectly zeroing off - yeah, I understand how negatives arise. I'm assuming Bunnings has an automated ordering system, and unless there's a major system stuff up (which AFAIK only happens very rarely) the counts are updated overnight, either before the stock is replenished or within a few hours. That means negatives due to delayed updates last less than a day.

What has been puzzling me with this product is that it seems to be a new line, as in days old. Even if it's been a bit longer it seems to be mostly reserved for store use. It's hard to understand how so many negatives could have arisen, some of which are quite large.

I don't think it's right putting this into drink bottles. What's to stop little kids seeing this on a bench and trying to drink it…

    • +1

Had the EXACT same thoughts, asking to be sued.

    • True, using such bottle does seem weird. Good eye mate!

      • +4

Btw, it did not say its alcohol level

      But Donald Trump said….

Trump wanted to drink bleach, this is alcohol.

What's to stop little kids seeing this on a bench and trying to drink it…

The taste and gel. If they do manage it, they will vomit.

        • +12

To be totally accurate, the Cheeto-in-Chief mentioned using disinfectant to cleanse the body and lungs, perhaps via an injection. This came after one of his experts mentioned the effectiveness of bleach and iso-propyl alcohol in killing Covid-19 on hard surfaces.

          So, yeah.

          • -5

            @NinjaChicken: Sorry, inject bleach :-)
Though to be fair, it is not so far off how we treat cancer with chemo.

            • +3

@bargaino: Please define why these are “not so far off”.

              • @try2bhelpful: He wants to inject himself just in case.
Both user names checked out. LoL

              • +1

@try2bhelpful: because chemo is poisoning yourself. It's poisoning yourself in the hope of killing a shitty part of you before it kills you but it's poisoning yourself.

This explanation is not to be considered any kind of support for Trump. Thinking you can do the same thing because you can see an analogy is a level of stupid that most can't reach in their lifetimes. It's like thinking a malaria medicine will work with any level of effectiveness on any new virus, and no-one would be stupid enough to think let alone say that or god forbid commit massive amounts of money to it.

                • @DonWilson: Thanks Don, I'm glad somebody at least got it!

While some chemo drugs are used as anti-virals, none of it detracts from Trumps idiocy in recent years. I think he has some sort of dementia, as we now believe Reagan did in office.

          • @NinjaChicken: so nah, mate.

        • -6

this is why you shouldn't watch fake news

he was spitballing ideas to his team, not to the public.. it certainly wasn't a suggestion

but media claims he is advising it and single cell organisms parrot that narrative

sometimes i think people are too dumb for democracy.. i mean look at the upvotes the disinfo gets.. and anyone trying to set the record straight gets downvoted to oblivion

how is it that there are so many dumb people…

          • +4

@desync: Some might say (and have said), if you are dumb enough to even suggest injecting disinfectant into the human body, or some way of hitting the body with bright or UV light so it would enter the body, you are not smart enough to be president.

The mind boggles that people would stand up this idiot.

Do you really think a public press conference is the place to spit-ball ideas?

There is so much wrong with your comment, I wish I could neg it twice.

          • +2

            @desync:

he was spitballing ideas to his team, not to the public

Backroom talks with you fellow politicians and medical experts. Sure.

In a press briefing. How about no?

      • +2

I think he said that if he gets infected with Covid-19, he wants to be injected with disinfectant.

      • +3

He's not wrong. To wipe out the virus, humans just have to die faster than it.

      • We already knew most people were idiots. But then lately people have to be advised not to drink or bloody inject this stuff. How dumb are you. Trump may be a fool (I wish I was as rich a fool as him personally) but shame on you idiots who are apparently adults. Good luck.

        • As much as I wish people did not have to be told not to do things as it could be fatal. Some see it as challenge accepted. As a result sadly we have things like people eating tide pods.

    • +33

I get the concern, but to be an issue, first your kid has to be the type to drink from random bottles (Id be concerned about this more than that bottle), and the parent has to be the kind of numpty that leaves poisons in reach of such kiddies… just a suggestion, dont store it in the fridge door with the Powerade/Gatorade

I would hope by the age they can reach the bench, they know not to drink from random bottles.

      • +22

You obviously don't have kids (or young kids). My kids are old enough not to, but young kids who want a drink will drink out of any drink bottle at home, whether it is theirs or not. Isn't it the idea that the sanitiser be accessible so being on a bench is often where it will be left. I know it is ultimately up to the parent, but putting it in drink bottles just makes it that much harder.

        • +4

What the hell is a kid who isnt old enough to know the difference, doing using sanitiser by themselves in the first place? Surely thats dangerous in of itself. It should be out of their reach regardless of the bottle, but sure, lets blame the bottle instead.

          • @Tuba: considering most is alcohol ….and probably has gelling agent, you’d be limited in how much you could drink before deciding it probably tastes unpleasant and stop.
and i presume parents are getting kids to wash hands and explain why, and not eat the soap, or drink the liquid soap that is normally in the bathroom anyway.

        • Tell your kids it's sanitizer and they won't bloody drink it! Geez, isn't anyone taking responsibility for their kids nowadays or just want to shirk parenting duties just to sue if given the chance! 😠

      • +15

Everyone's an expert on how to be a parent, before they become a parent.

        • +4

          I am a parent.

        • +8

No, my kids were smart enough not to touch stuff by the time they were at school anyway, and I was smart enough to stop them getting to the bleach, and other cleaners, petrol for the mower, and whatever else I have in the home that could kill them.

No idea is when you think this bottle is why kids are at risk, as opposed to their inept parents.

          • @Tuba: Bad parents are everywhere. sqeeksqeek is an example

            • -3

              @Scythic: Nope wrong.

        • +1

          @sqeeksqeek have a neg yourself - t ssa

          • -1

            @w37hsyea: 🤷‍♂️

      • +2

It is a clear liquid in a bottle with a lid that's only used on water bottles.

It's easy to think it's water.

      • I agree, kids who have bad parents and aren't the brightest deserve it. Thanks for talking me 'round. Screw those dumb kids with crap parents.

    • +8

That’s the responsibility of the parents/carers.

      • +1

An incredibly naive, irresponsible and immature comment, albeit amongst plenty of similar comments. No doubt you'd rail at those who mandated child-proof lids for many different household products.

Parents (and older kids in families) make mistakes leaving things where they shouldn't. Kids forget, and they can't be watched every minute of the day. The risk may be small but the outcome can be tragic, hence our society mitigates against that risk.

I agree it's a less than perfect container. All that said they were no doubt in a rush to provide this product to people AND it's not a huge job for those concerned to transfer the contents into a more suitable container.

    • +5

Part of the problem with lack of supplies lies with companies not having sufficient bottles on hand, rather than the ingredients. There are a couple of companies I know who didn't make their own bottles in house who have been caught out and scrambled to find alternative bottles to slap their labels on.

    • +3

If it's a concern, I'd suggest you put the liquid into another container, or refill an old sanitiser bottle.

A pump would be better.. but maybe it was the only packaging they could source and helped get the shipment out quicker.

    • +10

All our plastic bottles are made in China. That's why all hand sanitizers from these new companies are now in drink bottles or weird containers. The pump bottles are nowhere to be found because the import lines are delayed.

Also please start taking responsibility for your kids people. If you buy dangerous goods it's your job not to leave it on the bench for them to play with.

      • +10

Karen's parenting tip #1 everybody else is responsible for my kids.

      • +1

It is more the pump part of the bottle and 'complicated' caps that are mostly made in China. A large portion of plastic bottles are made in Australia. A chemical manufacturer in SA had resorted to the good ol' sauce bottle at the local canteen back in the day to package their hand sanitiser and sell them.

Speaking with a chemical manufacturer, also the thickening agent to make the sanitser into a gel form(** glycol) is the next hardest thing to source which is why you would see more liquids rather these days. Luckily, the supply vs demand is slowly catching up in certain industries so prices are starting to normalise again.

    • +2

It's Australian made. It wouldn't surprise me if they chose those bottles because it was locally available stock at the time.

    • +1

do you leave bottles of poison in hands reach?

kids will put their mouth on anything… time to put the big pants on and be responsible

    • It will have warning. Keep out of reach of children. Your responsibility. Do you leave knifes and lighters lying around on the benches too? I hope not

  • +3

Wow things are getting better. Will check out local Bunnings whether we have these in Tas for sale tomorrow.

Btw, the label looks very very much alike the Scott's.

  • +2

If there is no water? Then it is 99% alcohol?

    • +1

It says kills germs without water

      • +1

That's in reference to "washing" hands, traditional method of soap & water. Letting the user know they don't need to rinse.

    • Yeah I was thinking this, as 70% alcohol is better than 100% due to slowed evaporation. Think it just means without using a different water source like a tap

      • IIRC, water is a beneficial ingredient because it softens the outer membrane of the virus, speeding up the alcohols permeation to kill it. Its why soap and water work on it too, just takes longer and you need a source of water to rinse.

I made my own isopropyl alc and aloe mix at about 80/20 and its not evaporating. Not even the 50ml I keep in the car, in Qld.

        • +2

Its why soap and water work on it too

No, soap and water work because you are rubbing your hands together and that dislodges what's on your hand.
The soap helps with this through covalent bonding.

    • +2

      Aqua in ingredients

Come on.. This isn't rocket science. Kills germs without water means there is no need to wash hands. If we can't understand a simple thing like that then no wonder people are getting fooled so easily with with the current situation.

        getting fooled so easily

People are still watching mainstream media after it told them Iraq attacked America on 911 and that it had a space program.

        • +5

Mainstream media has a space program?

      • -1

Seems stock checker site has a bug and is only showing VIC results

    • -1

Do you have a link to the stock checker?

    • +2

The bug's a bit more serious than that. It's only showing the results from five specific VIC stores:

      • Box Hill
      • Chadstonep
      • Moorabbin
      • Oakleigh
      • Springvale

I've compiled a table of all the stock counts nationally and had it pinned at the top of the comments.

      • How do you pin it? :S

        • Ask a Moderator/Community Manager/Administrator very nicely. Only rarely will it get done as it needs to be for a very good reason.

          • @robinCTS: I would rather have the ability to edit my own posts… :S

Wont be long and theyll be paying us to take ot off their hands

Oomph sounds like more like a lubricant brand.

    • funny

You have got to clean and sanitize everything. Virus can enter from any part of your body

  • +6

What is the alcohol content in this?

    • That’s what I thought, no mention of the % on the label.

    • Probably 60 to 70 percent

    • Exactly.. what can you call hand sanitiser.. like free range eggs .

  • +2

@OP can you post a pic of the rear of the label please?

      • Even the back label looks more and more like the Scott's.

        P.S. Same manufacturer/distributor Pascoe's

      • Thanks. Not even listed on their site (yet).

      • where is the pump?

        • +1

No pump It's like a squeeze water bottle. Just try to remember it's not water.

          • +1

@mckayver: Yeah don't leave it on the bedside table.

          • @mckayver: cool. it was tongue in cheek though, back label says "pump"….
Think its fair to say they resorted to using whatever bottles they could get!
            THnaks.

100% Homemade Instant Hand Sanitiser with recycle the bottle.
    Don't be a fool…. lol.

  • +3

Something tells me that they ran out of suitable bottles to pack their product in. Drink top bottle is a disaster waiting to happen.

  • Looks like Pascoe’s also sells Scots.

    • They do. I checked the label, down to the fonts are the same.

  • +1

And the good news is this doesn't smell like metho. In SA (only?) we have Zoosh brand which smells like pure metho. (As opposed to one of the other local ones made by Bickfords which is much nicer ….)

    • Methanol is bad, I don't think Zoosh are adding that to their hand sanitizer.

      • Not methanol! :) It smells like Methylated Spirits …. that metho.

  • Label reminds me of that ajax powder cleaner from the can

    • you keep stuff in the toilet?

      • +4

Yeh i keep a few logs in my toilet

        • You don't have running water?

  • +2

The best price we've seen since lock down. Of course this assumes it will be available in reasonable quantities, and adheres to minimum alcohol levels.

Hopefully this will end the slew price gouging deals that have been posted this month for sanitiser.

I think the design of the bottle is TRUMP's Idea.
