Buy 3 Get One Free on Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalin RE003 Tyres and Firestone Car & SUV Tyres

2080

This deal on Potenza tyres is back! It works out to be a very good deal on these tires, It's normally hard to find performance tires for my car for under 700 all up.
You may be able to price match with Tempe tyres, their prices seem better than Jax/ Bob Jane. Eg Potenza re003 245/40r18 for $209/tyre.

      Keen to know too.

Mine's a Suzuki Swift, and am thinking of the Firestones.

Am concern about the bad wet conditions, but how bad is bad?

Will otherwise wait for an Ecopia deal.

how much would the 4 wheel alignment cost normally?

  • Hi guys,

I am new to all of this, first car - I have a Mazda 3 SP25 and according to their website the tyres are $211 each (RE0003) for the size I need, which would be $633 for 4 (with the 4th free), how much is a wheel alignment on top of this? And is this a good price?

    Cheers.

    • It is good. Assignment usually under $100. Also need tyres balanced

    • Love that car and RE0003 are great tyres. Stupid kangaroo came in my way and car was written off on.

  • How does this work if front and rear tyres differ in size?

  • Had these for a few years now on the Clio 182- terrific tyres.

  • Does this promo cover any of their run-flat tyres?

    • Thanks to cimrak

      1. Where staggered fitments are required, the free tyre will be offered on the tyre with the lowest price.
  • Doesn’t look like MyCar stock Bridgestone :(

As a graduate banker, these are perfect to add to my high-yield investment BMW.

    • Look again buddy haha.

    • ;) contisport is the default OEM…

Anyone know where our WBC graduate is?

  • Lol'ing at people in this thread who seem to go through so many sets of tyres. Honestly.. $700/pop.. Not something to do just because you feel like it

    • +3

Sorry gramps. We drive a little more exciting than you on your way down to the rsl in your barina.

      • +3

That's nice. I'm looking to be able to retire in my early 50s :p

        • +2

Hopefully a wet driving accident won't cause you to retire sooner!

        • +1

Good luck with that when you waste your money on Lego

          • @1jwoz: They've gotta have something to do when theyre retired.

          • +1

@1jwoz: Good call, except (without setting out to do so) I've only spent maybe $3k for $6k of sets (guesstimate, but I worked it out last year) because the sets I got bored of and sold appreciated so much in value

And I can sell the remainder and have a couple extra grand profit. Don't think second hand tyres are worth much to sell.

            • @justtoreply: I second that , worldwide lockdown has made any decent LEGO set boom !

  • A lot of people won’t benefit from having high performance tyres, but it’s of course not a bad thing to have them, there’s just trade offs. Louder road noise, less tire life due to softer compound.

For example, your friends son learning to drive in a Corolla isn’t going to need RE003s.

Same thing with brake pads, good performance brake pads usually have bad cold performance but will outperform other brake pads when at operating temp.

Nonetheless, RE003s are great tires, but you’ll need to decide whether you’ll see any benefit between these and something like Ecopias or MY02s

    • +2

You don't need to be a fast driver to benefit from these. Say you are driving at a normal, legal speed and someone pulls out in front of you. A few meters better braking distance due to tyres may save a life, at least the inconvenience of having a minor accident.

      • -5

Most modern cars have high performance wheels and tyres standard compared to even 5 years ago. 17 and 18 inch wheels with very low profile tyres are pretty common.

So you need to be sensible too, if you put super sticky tyres on everyone it is bad for the environment, increases fuel consumption and if people stick to the speed limit they are more than safe enough.

        • Driving at the speed limit doesnt stop someone else from pulling out of a driveway or intersection and not giving you enough time to stop.

          • -1

@8azinga: Doing 50kmh will make barely any difference.

These are expensive for an everyday jo.

  • For anyone wanting to see the difference tyres can make, read the July 2018 issue of Motor in the Bang for your bucks section.
    https://bauer-archive.x-cago.net/vw/edition.do?date=20180628…

They test a Toyota 86 with the performance pack and a Subaru BRZ tS. Both are essentially the same cars with same engine, chassis, brembo brake package, same sachs suspension set up. The major difference being the Subaru comes with 18" Michelin PS4 tyres. The Toyota has 17" Michelin Primacy HP.

    Braking from 100-0km.
    Toyota - 40.62m
    Subaru - 34.06m
    6.5m extra distance to stop

    • +3

      Sponsored by Michelin.

In any case the test was invalid, different cars, different wheels, different tyre sizes. There would be setup differences at the factory despite being "essentially" the same.

It proved nothing regarding upgrading a tyre to a stickier one of the same size as we are discussing here.

      • -1

Did it say it was sponsored by Michelin? Can you show me where cause I didnt see it. Although i admit i only skimmed through it.

If you know about the 86 performance pack and BRZ tS, you would know the suspension is set up the same for these models. In the standard models, the subaru is set up differently to the toyota but in these models, they are set up the same.
Oh, they run different head units. one has red leather highlights instead of black and the toyota doesnt come with a space saver spare. I'm sure they make a huge difference too.

I didnt say it was all due to just changing the tyre but it does show it makes a difference. It was just a reference for those interested.

        • Alot of variables:
          - tyre temp
          - brake pad/disc condition/temp
          - road surface temp
          - driver
          - timing/force of applying brakes

However, I would not argue stickier tyres are better in stopping. Only to take the diff in braking distance with a grain of salt due to variables in the test.

          • -1

@[Deactivated]: As I said, i wasnt stating that their results were due to just tyre change. It wasnt a test on just 2 cars looking at braking distance.
Yes, plenty of variables but going to be the case in real life conditions.
Out of the 6.5m difference, majority of it would be due to tyres.

  • Anyone have experience running michelin PS4s and Bridgestone Re003? Need 255/35/18 and could potentially save $350 (for a set of 4) going with this deal however heard the RE003s have a much shorter lifespan compared to the Pilot sport 4s?

    • +1

PS4S is as good as an eraser. But grips very well.

Never had RE003s, but they are supposedly better than S001s (which I've had as stock on the ND). Grips well in both wet and dry. But only managed 28000km out of it (can prob push them out to 30000km).

    • +1

You might get enough extra km's out of the Michelins to make the price difference irrelevant over long term.
I got nearly 10K km extra from PS4. Michelin in general have last longer than all other brands, even in other tyres models.

    • I've run RE003 and the Pilot Sport 3 and I think the Michelins were better, plus cheaper.

      • Cheaper even after this deal?

How much PS3? R003 will end up being 390 for 4 for me after price match and get 10pct back.

        • No I meant it was cheaper for my size at the time.

What size are you looking for where you'll get RE003 for under $100/each, that's crazy cheap. You're not going to find much better than that for that price.

          • @AdosHouse: mine is 225/55 17". Tempe has it for 145 each. Bridgestone has price match and 10% price beat guarantee.
With this buy 3 get 1 free, it would be

            For all 4 tyres,
            3 x ($145 * 90%) = $392

            i.e. $98 for each.

Assuming my understanding and calc are correct here..

            • +2

@OzFrugie: As long as they will stack the 4-for-3 promo and price match, than that would be an awesome deal.

      • Agree, I used to have RE003 on my LEXUS IS200

The sidewall just cracked and it is not under warranty. Being told I am hitting the curb but I never hit it with any curb or roundabout. The mechanic told me that this tyre is like this.

I stay out of it since then, Michelins is way better and last longer too. 30,000KM vs 40,000KM on Michelins

  • Firestone Destination LE-02 RBT - are these any good.. any experiences?

  • +1

I wish Michelin ps4s offers 3 for 4, or Bridgestone offers 3 for 4 for re71r. Wouldn't touch re003 again. Noisy and not much wet grip. Just go with Michelin ps4 for similar price.

  • Noob question!
Which tyres should I get for an SUV 4WD Nissan Pathfinder?
    I don't do off roads.
My tyres are pretty worn out.

    • +1

      Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus

      • What tyres for a Subaru Forester please? As above don't go off road, mostly suburban driving.

        • +1

          As above.

          • @Oofy Doofy: I have Bridgestone Potenza RE031 on my Lexus RX but Brigdestone dont make RE031 anymore. Really good tyres. Are the Bridgestone Dueler H/L D33 any good?

            • @pork chop: No idea, I prefer comfortable and quiet in my middle age. Ha

  • Just to let everyone else know, Ecopias should have the same promo next month.

    • Is that a confirmed insider knowledge?

I'm looking to get new tyres, and may hold out for a few more weeks if this is legit. Let me know. Cheers.

      • The Costco guy said so. Should be legit.

  • bought this in bridgestone silverwater $485 all up ( bridgestone potenza). good price.

    • Wow, what size?

  • +1

Would they stack the 4 for 3 promo deal and the price match?

  • +1

    https://www.bridgestonetyres.com.au/current-offer

As eluded by CVonC a few comments above this, the 4th tyre free offer has now been extended to a wider range of tyres.

  • Need new tyres but struggling with too many options. Factory tyres were Bridgestone RE050's, current set is Kuhmo KH17's.

    Car: 2009 Mazda6
    Size: 215/50R17
Use case (during normal times): daily ~10km round trip to the train station or shops / monthly ~400km round trip to see folks
    Wants: great wet weather capability

Leaning towards the Serenity Plus, but the Bridgestone website has the Potenza/Turanza/Ecopia range all within $209ea - $223ea from a local shop so that doesn't help narrow things down between 7 different models.

    Suggestions?

  • Has anyone been able to stack a price match with the buy 3 get 1 free offer? Bob Jane looks to have 25% off Bridgestones currently.

    • yes i have … Bridgestone usually ask for a competitor's quote.

    • +1

They're not stupid. They will match like for like, promo for promo.

  • I got these today for BMW X3

    S001 RFT

    Front 245/45/R19 - $375 each fitted
    Rears 275/40/R19 - $390 each fitted

Discount of $375. Total cost $1155 including balancing

Did not opt for wheel alignment - quoted me $40

Maybe could find better price elsewhere but I waited a year for this sale for the S001 to be on promotion

    • +1

40 is cheap. Mine was 75..

  • Looks like the offer was extended? Get the 4th tyre free offer is valid on purchases of four Bridgestone Potenza car tyres in one transaction from 18/05/2020 to 30/06/2020
Which is good because I need to get the 4 tyres around mid june!

  • Just pricematched Jax with Bridgestone for $520~ odd fitted 215/45r17 x4 (stacked with buy 3 get 1 free(.

  • hmm interesting, Ecopia EP300s went up in price by $8 @ Bridgestone & $15 @ Bob Jane. Still $125 (205/60/16) @ Tempe Tyres though. But not sure if they're participating in the promo. Does anybody know?

    • Nope afaik tempe doesnt have this promo

      • Confirmed. I sent them an email and they said they're not part of it.

  • Can anybody comment on the difference between the Turanza Serenity Plus vs Turanza ER33 vs Turanza ER300?

  • just a heads-up, stock seems to be drying up of the RE003.

Of course it's size-specific but I've been speaking with a few different outfits today and only one - (un)surprisingly, Bridgestone T&A - was able to confirm stock on hand. Others incl. Tempe Tyres, Bob Jane and Mycar couldn't even provide an ETA as to when they'll get them in so I recommend anyone sitting on the fence to ring around and book in ASAP so as not to get disappointed.

    • Potenza Re004 is coming out, so I'm not suprised. The more common sizes seem to still be in stock (eg 205/55r16)

  • Got some RE003s, 4 @ $615 for 225/40r18. Alignment is $65 if required. They mentioned they've got 8 left in this size at Silverwater NSW, not alot elsewhere in Sydney.
