    Can vouch for these meals
    Fantastic value and are excellent

Havent tried the $10+ ones though

    • thank you.

      • +1

What time are you open on weekends for pick up?

I'm tempted if you can add more vegetarian options.

        • we are open 7 days a week from 8am to 8:30pm while the pandemic is still on.

    • Same. For $4.90 they are very reasonable serving sizes.

Collected our first 10 and was going to order another 10 tomorrow after getting some more room in the fridge.

      • fridge space is always a problem… we are not going anywhere so order when ready :)

  • +3

How fantastic that youโ€™ve hired someone new! You guys are pretty good at marketing. I think you should get onto some mainstream media. Two reason, we need good news stories and also it might give other restaurants some ideas on how to survive. We need every single job we can get.

    • +1

thanks.. we have never reached out to media before. Any suggestions of how to do that would be welcome.

      • I have no idea. Sorry. Maybe someone here can help you.

        • no worries, will look into it!

    • -5

We need every single job we can get.

So why did Australian's vote to "severely damage" the economy using privatised electricity?

Small and large enterprises are no longer viable in this country, according to ACCC electricity enquiry, because of electricity prices.

      • +2

So why did Australian's vote to "severely damage" the economy using privatised electricity?

That's incorrect usage of an apostrophe.

      • Dude, theyre selling ribs!

Let them sell it, and don't bring in irrelevant bs

    • +1

Totally agree โ€“ I've seen some other restaurants practically begging for people to buy credit etc. Heck, it seems like maybe Third Wave could even start a hospitality marketing consultancy on the side eventually! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

  • +11

OP - you really need to get rid of the "somebody ordered" bloody pop ups.
So annoying and most people know it's false.

    • +7

hi, I believe it's not false, it takes data from real orders. In our case at least. However, I take your point. Will get the developer to remove.

    • +1

      They aren't always false.

Purchased a wedding ring off a web site, my friend who lives in another state was browsing the same web site the day after I ordered the ring and saw my first name and the style of ring being purchased as a "someone recently purchased'.

      • +2

well for this one it's hard to believe Jackson ordered Salmon Fantasy twice in the span of 32 minutes ago after 10-15 minute website visits.

        • LOL.

          • +1

@Fatboy74: hmm, that was not how it was meant to work based on the description. Oh well, we can't even trust the software description anymore. Will remove.

            • @gregor20: no harm op.
I really like Third Wave - probably my fav restaurant in Melbourne.
I'm planning to order some packs as soon as I have room in my freezer.

    • They're not fake. It's a Shopify plugin which is displays real data from previous orders in an attempt to gain brand trust for the potential buyer (more likely to purchase if you know other people are). But yes it is not appropriate for this kind of site.

      • well apparently Jackson just ordered more Salmon Fantasy 32 mins ago, after i checked the website again.
This person called Jackson must really love salmon.
And Emma sausages because apparently she's ordered it every 32mins ago every time i check the website.

        • It's displaying 32 mins ago for me as well. Maybe that's when they processed orders? I don't know what to say mate, but if you don't believe me, it's called Sales Pop: https://apps.shopify.com/shoppop

          See for yourself.

          • @antigrate: the idea was never to show fake orders, we get numerous orders per day so there is never a need to make up orders… however, we will remove the pop-up.

        • +1

          Emma must love her sausages!

      • They are real and fake. If no real orders are taken then they recycle the orders from previous orders or generate fake ones. There's a few plugins that work different and the settings can be changed to suit your business. How do I know? I made one of the original apps for another ecomm store and my Indian developers then took my code and turned it into a Shopify plugin. And made a lot of money. Smart. Annoying.

        • thanks… will certainly look into it…there is no need for this technology to make up orders. we have real orders to get data from.

  • Good meals.
I tried a few of them before the $4.90 meals were created and then placed an order late last week to try the $4.90 ones, looking forward to when they arrive.

    • thank you

  • Meals I've had were yum (apart from the coleslaw - that does not freeze very well), but have you updated your packaging to be more leak proof? Also is it the same courier for interstate deliveries? When I received my order it was completely defrosted.

    • +6

We have made a number of changes to the earlier meals. The equipment for sealing is now better and so are the bags and the containers. We have had numerous issues with couriers due to the Coronavirus. So we have changed how everything is packaged, upgraded to thick foam boxes, and now include 4 to 6 ice packs with each pack. We now expect the couriers to take double the time they quote so need to make sure the food stays frozen for much longer.

      Thanks for your order.

      • Thanks, that's good to hear! I'll hopefully be placing another order soon.

        • great, thank you.

    • +1

      Agree on the coleslaw.
I made the mistake of freezing 3 of them, I put them in a beef broth for my wife though and she enjoyed it.

      • +2

We do not freeze some of the items including slaw and salsas, they are sent chilled.

        • +2

They arrived in good contrition, it was my mistake of freezing 3 of them.

          • +1

@mapax: good to hear they arrived well.

  • Can anyone post any photos of what the packs look like?

    • +3

I should have some of the $4.90 meals arriving today or tomorrow, I can post a pic if no one else has.

    • +9

      https://i.imgur.com/3oPMf4y.jpg

here are what mine look like frozen

      • +3

Wow, they really have upped their packaging. These look so much better now. Thanks for sharing.

        • +3

we are working on improving the packaging all the time… should get even better in the near future.

      • +1

        thanks for sharing these.

      • +1

        Thanks!

  • Good deal but shipping (25$) seems expensive for NSW

    • +11

unfortunately to make sure the food stays frozen we have to spend around $15 on the packaging alone. at $25 we actually subsidise the shipping by around $15 to $20.

    • +5

Shipping food interstate is never cheap, especially perishable. Most just factor it in to the price of the food itself.

I'm in NSW and have ordered twice, both times $100+ worth of food.. Delivery worked out to be around $1 per meal.

Also can vouch for the wings, chicken risotto and beef stew.. All really tasty.

      • +1

thanks for your order. Glad you enjoyed the food.

  • Wait are you guys third wave cafe still or have you changed names? Website looks identical but just a name change

    • +1

QueYou BBQ is an online brand we would like to develop.

      • Ah fair enough.

      • So you will be continuing this product range "post-COVID"? If so, ace!

        • +4

looks like we will.. it has been taken up fairly well by customers so we are thinking of making a go of it and building it up as a business. Since we started this, we examined competition and it looks like other reheat-at-home meals leave a lot to be desired. Don't want to say anything about competition, but we believe that our product tastes better and represents better value. We currently have over 40% repeat orders.

          Thanks for your support!

          • +2

@gregor20: I used to order from YouFoodz and I've noticed that their prices have gone up and quality has really plummeted. Meat quality is bloody awful now. Chewy and nothing but fat. Veggies are bland. You are right in saying there's a gap in this market.

            • @antigrate: thanks for the confirmation. We purchased some of the youfoods and the ready to eat meals from supermarkets and did not really think they love up to the quality we produce. We are biased though, you guys are the final judges.

  • The OZB10 code isnโ€™t working?

I have other meals in my cart

    • I will check now.

    • +1

hmm, just checked and it worked. Also had a number of order go through today with that code. Not sure why it is not working for you.

      • My didnโ€™t work either, so I just put the order through anyway.

        • +3

thanks for that. could you please DM your order number and I will organise a refund for what should have been discounted…. very strange that it is working for some but not for others. Sorry about that.

        • +8

          refund done

  • +4

Can you add more vegan and vegetarian meals. For example an option for 5 vegan meals of different varieties?

    • +3

Thanks for the suggestion… will look into grouping the meals this way. Might need a week or so to put it together. Regarding more options, we will look into making more vegetarian and vegan dishes as well.

      • Agreed. More vegetarian options would be great.

  • +3

Some of the most delicious BBQ I've ever had in Melbourne, can't recommend these restaurants enough!

    • thanks for your kind words. Really glad you like our food. Hopefully, soon we will be able to look after people like we normally do, without having to send everyone outside to eat standing in the cold.

  • +2

Hey OP, I've been so keen to get on these but with only 1 vego option in each bracket, it makes it hard to justify buying bulk. Any chance of offering a second option to any of them? Thanks

    • +4

We will certainly look into it. Sorry about the lack of Vege options, as we are a BBQ place, we seem to think meat, meat, meat all the time. Should not forget Vegetarians and Vegans. We will create some more Veg and Vegan options over the next couple of weeks and add them. Thanks for the suggestion.

  • "What You" as a restaurant name?

    • Sorry what do you mean? The restaurant is called Third Wave Cafe www.thirdwavecafe.com.au

      • +1

        QueYou BBQ

        What You BBQ

        • I assume its meant to be a pun on "too you" with Que instead?

          • @Jofzar: no, Que is short for BBQ in the States. It's also meant to be a pun…

            • @gregor20: Que is What in spanish. not a very good pun in the southern states i guess, or around new york.

              • @[Deactivated]: Que is pronounced completely differently. I'm no expert in US slang, but I've only ever heard "que" as shorthand for BBQ being spoken, not seen anyone actually typing it (which makes sense - it's much quicker to say but no quicker to type than BBQ).

It's not a pun, it's just a shortening of the word.

                • @callum9999: The shortening for barbecue (barbeque in US) is BBQ, so "Q to U(c)" would be a better marketing name for a mobile barbecue/barbeque restaurant.
gregor20 even said it's meant to be a pun, but in USA as i mentioned, there are some shops that have signs "Don't worry, we speak English too" so que(kรฉ) would be read as Spanish for what. "What You Mexican and BBQ food" great name, not confusing at all.

  • +1

OP good on you for taking on the advice from the previous post and adding nutritional info. Seems like a good business that listens to customers.

    • +5

thanks, I think listening to customers is the most important thing we can do. Customers tell us everything we need to know to improve.

  • Sweet just discovered this. I tried the code but it said it was invalid. I think itโ€™s because I had some $4.90 meals in the cart (along with some of the other more expensive meals). Must be a blanket invalidation rather than only applying to the correct meals. Ordered anyway.

    • +1

hmm, again sorry about that… please DM your order number and I will organise a refund for what was supposed to be the discount amount.

  • I placed an order for the combo for 2 and 2 other meals for pickup. Then got the offer for single bbq pack with free delivery.. Will one be posted and one pickup?

    • if you have original order for pickup, we will add the additional order to that one

      • Ok, thats fine

  • Jesus Christ the font change hurts my eyes. Was that necessary lol

    • sorry about that… which font change was annoying. Please let me know and we will adjust.

      • I think he/she may be referring to the font colour. I've just run your site background colour (#560D04) and font colour (#B3B3B3) in an accessibility checker and it fails due to the colour contrast making it slightly hard to read. Might be a better idea to change the grey text to a white colour.

        • thank you. really appreciate the help. Will look into it and adjust.

          • +2

@gregor20: No worries. Some people around here can be pretty nasty with criticism. You guys are doing a fantastic job!

  • Great restaurant. Food tastes amazing and the customer service is good as

    • thank you.

  • Smashed the rice out - was amazing! Excellent value for coin. Well done guys

    • thank you!

  • -1

    Hey Gregor,

Any chance that all of the nutrition menu can ALSO include KJ for the Energy,

Personally prefer KJ (but others prefer calories) would be nice for tracking intakes.

    Regards,

    • +2

Use a calorie to kj convertor?

    • +2

sorry, did everything in calories.. you might need to do a conversion on google.

      • -5

Would be beneficial (as KJ is the default australian value) for them to be added aswell.

I personally havent ordered yet because im going through and trying to figure out how many KJ in each because im trying to eat healthier and ordering from there. more of a snap ordering helper TBH.

        • Got it. Will adjust to KJ in the future.

          • +5

@gregor20: Don't listen to him. Anyone counting their macros is using protein/carbs/fats and calories. I'd do both or just calories.
