100% a gimmick for me.. the only real application I can see is using the digital pen to draw if you're some sort of designer.

However it does work somewhat well for slight multitasking.

I also find I tap the second screen when I'm typing which results in losing my curser for a moment or two

Also, the trackpad placement gets a little annoying at times.

I'm just glad I got the I7 version for around 900

      • Which one?

        • -1

ZenBook UX481FL is the one i have

          • @P3aker: And where to buy?

                • +2

@Freestyle: It's amazing how people get negged for mentioning that they managed to get a better/exclusive deal rather than giving the person a high five for scoring a great deal regardless of how the got it.

@P3aker, well done and high five. Hope you're enjoying your laptop at a great price!

                  • @Trishool: lol haters will hate i guess

                  • -1

@Trishool: Because it's bragging in an environment about sharing deals.

                    • @wasdw246: It's not bragging, it's your attitude that reads it as bragging. We should celebrate each other getting great deals and saving money rather than acting bitter about it.

              • +1

@P3aker: LOL you guys are wild, i was just saying that im glad i got it for that price because i find the laptop a gimmick more then anything

                • -2

@P3aker: Dont be salty just because no one liked you bragging

                  • @Freestyle: LOL ok

                  • @Freestyle: im going to be bragging about all my savings and deals from now on

                    Thanks for the laugh LOL

    • How about the one with screenpad 2.0? Can I use it to do handwriting or voice input like Android Google input? Windows 10 handwriting is terrible.

The first time I remote utilities into this kind of laptop, the app told me I have two display.

No idea until I lookup the model XD.

    • Agreed - 100% gimmick. Even more than that, it often gets in the way. Can't find a way to tell Windows to "not recognise" that it is a screen.

      • +3

        hi,

press windows key + P and then select pc screen only.

this should disable the secondary screen

  • i have a UX481 with i5
    i paid $1487
This is a good price for i7
Love the dual screen for essay writing and extra apps open

  • +7

Waiting for Ryzen 4th gen :)

  • Does it have sdcard slot? I miss that I really need it

    • It has a micro sd slot

    • -6

I was thinking the same thing lol.

    • +2

How do you know this doesn't have local warranty?

      • +4

It does, this guy is yapping BS

    • +2

MacBook Pro with similar specs are slot more than 1699, please explain?

      • Dude is smoking PCP. Ignore.

        • Angel dust? You know what this stuff does to kids?

      • The second screen on these people label as a gimik… on a Mac the price would be at least double if not triple for these specs., gimik or not it’d be labeled as revolutionary lolll

    • +2

The closest thing to this is a MacBook Pro 13" with the lesser core i5 2GHz, 16GB RAM & 512GB SSD is $2,999.

      What?

  • -1

Not even proper 10th gen CPUs still 14nm.

  • Do these charge with Type C?

    • I think unfortunately not

  • The reviews I’ve read are that the laptop is heavy with a terrible battery life, but is powerful. It seems more like a laptop you would mostly leave plugged in sitting on a desk IMHO.

    • +2

1.26kg is heavy? Damn, my laptop is 3.2kg.

      • Maybe the duo which is 1.5kg. But my zenbook is 1.06kg haha.

    • +2

Wrong laptop. Those reviews were for the "ASUS Zenbook Duo Pro" which complained about weight and battery life

    • +1

Sure you havent mixed it up with the big brother with an i9 and RTX graphics? I dont know how this one runs but that sounds wrong for a 14inch laptop

  • +1

    I7 out of stock now..
    Good, saved money

  • How are the viewing angle i have heard a lot about them

  • -1

Geez that's pricey, (if it had a 24 hour or 12 hour max battery life sure, but if it's less then 8 hours no thanks, and it doesn't have a 1tb ssd, or 15.6inch screen, and lately a 1600 series gtx or amd varient no thanks, and if the arrow keys are not chicklet designed or atleast like a normal keyboard no thanks for that price) if you're willing to pay that price I'm sure you know where to go to get the best deal, but from what I see ideal this isn't it.

    Bye now.

    • -2

That keyboard will definately give you a hard time but if one work requires a screen it will be worth it but what i worry about is durability and viewing angle of screenpad plus as few reported screenpad giving a hard time to them on reddit like getting hot or not turning off as it doesn't have integration with windows and working with windows isn't easy

i7 showing out of stock for me

I bought the UX481 with i5 2 months ago when they were doing the $200 cash back promotion, and this is my 4th ASUS ultrabook (Due to work I change laptop every year and I only used to buy Sony Vaio, but since they stopped making them I started using ASUS, I know Sony is back in market but they are only limited to certain countries and nowadays I also cannot justify their prices).

After 2 months of usage the following is the POS and CONS in my own opinion:

    <POS>
    - Fast with 10th gen CPU and sufficient Memory (My previous model was on a 8th gen i5)
    - Although battery life is not great, but as I mostly use it at home/work where AC is plug in, I have no issue and it is good enough for me.
    - Extra screen has a touchscreen/drawing/writing pad, I use it for hand writing Chinese for my WhatsApp web which is convenient. Something I also place a Youtube browser there when I work and that is also handy.
    - Build quality as great as most of the ASUS ultrabooks.

    <CONS>
    - It is indeed on the heavy side comparing to all my ultrabooks I used (i.e. Zenbook, vivobook and Zenbook Flip)
    - The 2nd screen make this laptop keyboard layout funny, however most of the time I used a logitech bluetooth keyboard so it does not bother me so much.
    - If you enable the 2nd screen the battery drain faster however if you don't you can always turn it off.
    - The view angle of 2nd screen is not great and I think their latest/upcoming model you will be able to tilt/lift it.
    - If you getting an i5 like me (cheapest in the line), there are many extras you will miss, i.e. No Asus Pen, No laptop Sleeve, hand rest and the base pad that you can roll up like the iPad case for higher clearance and better ventilation.

Overall this is a great unit that I love and I recon it is a good buy.

    • Thanks, this was helpful!

  • how can a machine like this not have TB3? such a shame…

  • Picked up one of the UX434 a few days ago from JB for my wife, they price matched Amazon at $1274.

    Very happy so far!
