    Welcome back :)

    $11.99 more?

  • +5

Has also been as low as $399 during eBay sales
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/525196

I’d prob pick it up if 399 now

    • +1

That price was an outlier and only had 100 units in stock - have you ever tried buying anything from the limited eBay+ sales? It's next to impossible. This deal is pretty much the best you'll get (give or take ~$10)

      • +5

Barely anyone brought them each hour.. there was plenty of stock available when they ran this one!

        • +1

Fair enough then. My experience in the past was it was an absolute free-for-all so I'm surprised the Brodens weren't on this like a tonne of bricks. I would still temper your expectations though, if you actually want them I personally don't see another $399 deal soon.

          • +2

@Hinee: Yep i know.. like the airpods etc!

I'll pull the trigger if I can see a <$400 price… i dont need em desperatly!

      • I managed to get one at 40 minutes past the hour…

  • Anybody know where I can get a new cable fitted to my old headphones?

    • What do you mean? You can by replacement cables for the mini jack online - genuine and after market.

      • I wouldn't have a clue how to attach it (soldering, etc.,)

  • What does this have over the XM3 apart from multi-device connection?

    • +6

      Better call quality, microphone.

      • Fair enough. Those things are not priorities for me so I'll probably pass on this :)
From my experience, the pure sound quality of the XM3 trumps the QC 35 ii and any other similar tier headphones, but I haven't tested these new 700s

        • The PXC 550/480 have the best sound quality and comfort out them and the XM3 or QC 35 ii, but the XM3 have the best ANC. I also don't think ANC headphones are renown for their sound quality, their selling point is the ANC.

    • multi-device is a big one imo

  • If this could be stacked up with cash rewards from ShopBack or Cashrewards … :(

  • 2 expensive 4 me. Same shit as qc35 but $150 more.

    • And QC35 is $150 too much for me LOL.

      To each, there own.

      • +1

what are the 200 dollar competitors to the qc35?

The qc35 and this are similar in performance and the leap is not justified for an extra 150.

  • Can you use these as a gaming headset or do they have the same mic limitations as the QC35s?

    • You might wanna check out Audeze Mobius if you want a headset primarily for gaming.

    • +1

I have used them on video games ok. I find though the nic is hit and miss, discoed it’s fine, counter strike it’s not. My fix was to buy a $5 clip on mic and plug these into the 3.5 jack. I didn’t buy them for gaming, was a purchase for work which I use on the odd ocaasion I feel like using the PC, fine for a once a fortnight thing, maybe look elsewhere if you use it more frequently

      • Did you plug the clip-on Mic into the Laptop/Pc or the Bose headphones? Thanks

  • +3

prefer the look of the previous model. these look fragile

  • +1

I have an issue with the seller which is surprising because it's Bose. My partner put an order through for QC35 II at Easter https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/530123.

Despite getting an order confirmation from Bose and Paypal saying order has been placed, after one month we never received the headphones. They were meant to be posted interstate for Mother's Day but we only found out yesterday that they didn't arrive. Called Bose and they weren't able to help and have asked that we wait another two days to get a call back. Not sure why they can't just fix it over the phone then and there. And they weren't able to explain why they didn't complete the order despite having confirmed it.

Any reps on that can help?

    • +8

This has nothing to do with this deal or Amazon. So your neg is irrelevant

      • +8

Oops you're right, missed it wasn't bose. I'll remove, thanks for the heads up! Sorry again

    • +1

I have an issue with the seller which is surprising because it's Bose.

      Except the seller is Amazon.

      • +2

Yep, early morning brain fade - obviously need my coffee so just ordered some from Manna beans haha. How do I remove a neg?

  • Anyone use this for phone calls as well? Is it true they’re as good as the top end earbuds?

    • +2

Rtings.com rate them well, definitely better than previous generations. The mute button is pretty useful.

In addition, they have one of the best Bluetooth microphones that we’ve tested so far and feature a mic mute button that can be very helpful during long conference calls.

      https://www.rtings.com/headphones/reviews/bose/700-headphone…

  • good deal.. but will wait for it to drop to 400

  • Being a "not so proud" owner of this headphone, I would definitely recommend everyone to wait for the Sony WH-1000XM4 that should be released soon.

Also as mentioned by others, it is not the cheapest deal that I have seen on the market.

In term of phone call, I can confirm that it better than talking on the phone directly, at least with my Pixel 2 XL.

    • I really hope sony add multi device connectivity, thats my big hold out. Couldnt live without it for my QC35s

  • +1

Bear in mind, there are nowhere near as comfortable as QC35's. Bose really dropped the ball on comfort as far as these are concerned, the only reason I got them and then got rid of them pretty soon.

    • +1

I agree have had both, heavy, sweaty, and if you wear glasses the QC 35 were a bit better for some reason, i didn't have both at once so not sure why.

  • +2

Only supports SBC/AAC Audio Codecs….. Seriously, it's a damn shame they didn't even implement aptX or even better would be Sony's open source LDAC high-res codec which many modern Android phones support. Most other wireless & NC headphones don't support LDAC eitther, but many of them do aptX (which has licensing fees from Qualcomm) whilst being significantly cheaper than the 700s. The WH1000XM3s do aptX, aptX HD and LDAC for comparison.

Not trying to hate on 700s, they're a cut above the Sony's in most regards, but when they cost so much it's a deal breaker that I'd have to compromise on audio quality. Unless ofc you use iOS then yeah they're great.

    • +1

"The WH1000XM3s do aptX, aptX HD and LDAC for comparison"
And AAC and SBC. They support pretty much all codecs in use today. I use LDAC 32bit/96Khz on my WH1000XM3's and the sound is excellent with high-resolution audio files!

      • Yeah I didn't mention SBC since ALL bluetooth headphones must support it - it's the standard codec used for Bluetooth Audio. And pretty much 95% of Bluetooth headphones support Apple's AAC codec too.

But yeah I love LDAC on my WH1000XM2's couldn't imagine going back!

I just sold mine on ebay yesterday and just posted. Were 6 months old. I had QC3511 as well before that. Reasons. Found them heavy and a bit sweaty over summer. The Bose music app is a PITA. Had to reset and setup a fair few times. They connect to 2 devices at a time but i have 4 Apple devices so AirPods are much easier to swap between. Bose you can have more connected in the app, but you have to go into the app and disconnect one but you cant disconnect the device you use to set it up ie iPhone in my case. Prefer AP's in bed too.
NC is great used on flights to NZ in January but wont be doing that for a looooong time. Sound was good probs same as QC35.

As outrageous as it is to spend this much on head-phones, the last 2 months have shown me what an incredible investment these are - noise cancelling of what you can hear aside (as Bose are pretty good at this), what sets these aside is the extraordinary microphone quality/background noise cancellation for those you are speaking with - especially on video conferences and conference calls when you are out and about. You can literally stand on a railway platform when the train arrives those in the background can't hear the noise - they are unbelievable. In the current climate I am literally wearing these 8-10 hours a day working remotely, the battery lasts a long time and only towards the end of a shift do I feel like I want to take them off for lack of comfort. There'll be plenty of views, opinions and reviews but in my opinion if you are talking/sharing your voice (not just consuming audio) it really is hard to find a better product in the market - at this price, they're not cheap - but certainly cheaper than before!

    • I've been using my QC35s for WFH but have found them less than ideal so I'm wondering if the behaviour is similar on the 700s. When you connect to PC via BT you can use them as headphones or headset - with headphones being full quality audio with no mic while headset allows 2 way comms at a much reduced quality. I've been using my desktop mic coupled with these set to headphones, but does the 700 allow them to truly be used as a PC headset?

      • Also interested. My other bluetooth heads act the same as qc35s though.

      • My 700's are DEFINITELY connected as a headset
        https://imgur.com/xe4KJhl

        • Okay yeah so same deal - not a true headset as far as a PC goes. Still better off getting something like a gaming headset with a dedicated mic for best quality.

          • @Hinee: Oh - Curious, how would I know what a "true headset" is on a PC - I thought that's what the dropdown said? I use Google Meet and it comes up as "Headset" and the audio quality is exceptional, i receive lots of feedback on the microphone especially.

            • +1

@Ashburtonian: I think @Hinee means it's not physically connected via 3.5mm jack or USB-C to the PC? Regardless, from what you're saying, the call audio quality seems unmatched so far.

            • +1

@Ashburtonian: Try this - via the windows volume icon in the tray next to the clock click that and then select Headphones and then start playing some music. While it's playing, click the volume icon and then change it over to headset and you should immediately notice the huge drop in audio quality.

My understanding is the "headset" mode is a lower bandwidth method for Bluetooth speech, whereas headphones is a one-way high quality mode just for audio. People may be fine with using headset mode, but I personally would rather the high quality voice that goes with using a PC rather than phone.

Note what I'm saying purely relates to when connected to a computer - the headphones vs headset discussion is irrelevant when using them on a smartphone.

    • Certainly an upgrade from the QC35s which pick up every little background noise when on call so useless for conference calls etc

  • +3

I went for these for the call quality. I sit on them for hours on end doing work calls and the quality is amazing. I get a lot of comments on how clear I am as well.

The noise cancelling is also on point.

They feel drastically more premium and comfortable then the Sony ones. The Sony headset by comparison feels like a kids play toy.

Sound quality is 100% on point.

Very easy to wear all day all week as well.

Yea they cost more then the Sony version. If you will be using these at work and taking work calls, it is a non brainer, buy them ASAP.

    • True, Sony WH1000XM3's aren't that good on phone calls, but they excel in Audio Quality department.

      • These are bette eMate, we got both, it’s gonna be subjective though when it comes to audio

  • I've got a pair of these and have been very happy with them. I opted for these over the QC35s and XM3s due to comfort and call quality, and they haven't disappointed.

  • +1

I have two pairs of these from the last Amazon Prime deal (one for work and one for home). They are exceptional, plus look way better than the QC35.

  • Kind of a niche question, but I was wondering if anyone has opinions on the NC 700s' transparency mode compared to the ambient mode on the WH-1000XM3? Is Bose's transparency mode more realistic and easier to access? I often listen to music/podcasts etc with ambient mode on the Sony set to around 30-40%, and whenever I cycle through different listening modes the headphones reset back to let 100% of ambient sound in and I have to manually adjust levels in the app. Rather annoying.

    • You only have 3 settings, 0-5-10 with a button on the side so easy to do, will stay on last setting used when connected again. Can be changed via the app too.

  • I don't like the shape. however is the call quality (mic) really much better?

    • Better than what QC35? if so yes although i find my AirPods Gen 2 just as good for calls, no NC though.

    • Call quality seems to be excellent, see @Ashburtonian's comment here.

      • awesome, then it's a buy if we see them around $300 mark…that's the missing item here in my home setup and cutting all cords…

also i hope it can Bluetooth connect to multiple devices as it used to be the case which is great.

  • Does anyone have any insight to how long the rechargeable battery lasts for? That's one thing stopping me from feeling comfortable about ANC/Bluetooth. A $450 pair of ordinary headphones will still be functional in 10 years time whereas these….

  • +4

I wonder if OzBargain is saving me money or causing me to spend more hmmm.

  • FYI Bowers & Wilkins is having 25% off and you can get PX5, for $349.95, which is direct competitor to this Bose NC700 from B&W official, Minidisc, Addicted to Audio etc.

This NC700 is my daily driver now, but I miss the sound signature from B&W, they are more forward, with intimate soundstage, while providing good detail that is cleaner and clearer.

    • +1

      The PX5 is On-Ear.
The equivalent to Bose NC700 would be Over-Ear which would be the older PX or the new PX7.

  • this or the B&o H4ii … I dont need ANC

    • Just buy any, wait for Sony WH-1000XM4.

      • Sorry I mean just "don't" buy any…
