  • Stand Mixer $399 @ ALDI on 23rd May Sat.

    Doesn't sound like a bargain.

    • +17

      Doesn't sound like a bargain.

Maybe this mixer is quieter than most??

    • ohh typo. Sorry. Fixed it. Thanks for picking it up.

      • You're welcome

  • +109

No brand but at this price I think its a whisk worth taking

    • +16

      that's a lot of dough

      • +5

and if it ain't good it will be sourdough

        • +4

          You knead more puns.

          • +3

@Entheogen: Surely 3 puns is enough to get a rise out of people?

          • +2

@Entheogen: Surely someone else has something to add to the mix

      • +1

Can this thing actually mix dough?

    • +21

I can't justify the price of a KitchenAid so this will be beater then nothing.

      • +1

Hopefully, the companies that sell KitchenAid will put it on special.. will get one under $450 for the Artisan range

    • +1

This will stir some brands mad

    • I bow to the king of puns!
I wish I'd have thought of that one, but I wont beat myself over it.

  • +4

    Brand would be Ambiano

  • Good luck getting this… unless you want to camp outside the night before!

    • +17

The trick is to head down to a bogan Aldi. The locals are still drunk from the Friday night bender.

      • +3

        NO RAGRETS here, in advance.

  • +7

Being 600W, I would say it's comparable to this one and pretty much the same price. Arguably better looking?
But I have the Kmart one and it's pretty gutless for any dough around a kilo. Very noisy too.

I think the newer 1000W die cast mixer is a better buy for $119 if you can find stock.

    • +1

This. Spend a fraction more and get something that is always on the shelf that you can return when you want to.

      • +5

        Like a KitchenAid…

        • -1

          Lol bad joke

    • +6

See this is why I never trust all those gushing reviews from the 'kmart mums' (eugh)
      Their one-eyed fanaticism is disgusting.

      • +3

I mean for $70 they're ok value. It doesn't get right to the bottom of the bowl like a high end one would and low wattage means it will struggle with thicker doughs but for making cake batter and biscuits they'd be fine.

      • +2

haha yep gets hyped way too much.

Kmart have some cheap stuff but for things like this the hype is too much

      • +4

They are just paid sprookers… just paid in product instead of cash (well thats what I assume!)

      • +5

It skews reviews a lot. Usually reviews are negatively skewed (on sites like productreview), as people will frequently complain about an unsatisfactory experience, but an unremarkable/satisfactory experience doesn't compel a review.

Kmart is the opposite. They seem to be bored and need to self-validate the purchases, and rope others into it.

        • -6

Exactly why cheap chinese tvs like hisense and tcl get Good reviews.

        • +3

Our $69 Kmart mixer we got as a housewarming gift is still going strong after 4 years. It does struggle with bread doughs but crosses the line every time.

Yes, it's noisy and vibrates heavily when mixing heavy doughs but is held down well with suction caps (which are also loud when removing from the bench).

Turns out our friend buys everyone the same mixer whenever they move homes. Were all secretly planning to remove the suction caps and race our mixers down the hallway someday.

    • +2

Has anyone here used the $120 die cast one? What's the build quality/feel like?

Is it capable of thicker doughs and batters?

I've seen plenty of people rave about the $69 one, but sounds like it struggles with dough. Of course it does cream, cake batter, etc. well, because anything would

      • Also interested to know about this one too! I did see one on amazon with a few more attachments + a mincer and stuff too though..

        • That's the other thing… If I'm only spending $50-100, then it just being a mixer is fine. Much more and I feel like I'd rather be spending more and getting the option of attachments like mincer, flour mill or dough roller.

          • @SolidworksError: I wasn't too excited about the mincer and juicer attachments, I was actually interested because it had a beater + a silicone beater. It'll scrape the sides!! lol it's the little things…

  • Aldi one made in Europe?

    • +2

      lol, no way

  • +9

I bought a stand mixer from Aldi last time it was on sale. Didn’t take out the paddle attachment until I’d had it for a few months and it snapped off the first time I used it (mixing butter and sugar). Aldi refused to refund it and I had to wrangle with the manufacturer to get a replacement part. Altogether not a great experience and if I had my time again I would invest in something better quality.

    • If we don't have money, do you think it is a good idea to buy an used stand mixer?

    • Flash then your 12+ month consumer warranty badge.

      • I showed them my receipt, the Aldi refund policy and the ACCC website and the manager flatly refused to give me a refund. Probably was just problems with that store. I made an official complaint to Aldi HO which they never responded to.

        • +2

          Call the cops!

          • -1

            @muncan: You must be new.
            We use bikies here.

        • Had the same issue with a product once. Arguing it's outside their 60 day return window and didn't care about ACCC consumer rights..

Add: Most othrt products I had to return to different stores were fine though, so I also would say store related.

  • -4

Bought one, never really used it. Would of preferred an electric hand beater… never used that either! FML… I need to bake more!

    • +1

      Of what?

      • -1

? Of what? I don't understand your comment at all, it appears you have dementia.

    • +2

lol I'm so confused why you were negged so much…

  • I think for few baking stuff this worth value cover ups $69.99

    • +13

      • Covers up the Cost.

        • +2

I think for few baking stuff this worth value covers up the cost.

          Did I get it right?

      • Covers Up the Cost.

        • +3

          Are you trying to say

I think for occassionaly baking, the value for this is worth no more than $69.99 ?

    • I guess I have to bake a lot to make up my kitchenaid….

    • +1

      Someones been baking hash brownies.

  • +6

This is the aldi AMBIANO brand.
I had one used it for nearly 3 years, broke at the end, got my money back.
It will do any job you throw at it, the only issue is that when kneading dough you can't make large quantaties, anything over 1kg in total mass flour+water will strain the motor and the gears inside which are of low quality. Also, you need to always use the low speed setting for dough, use any higher speed and it will break the gears(which happened to mine).
I have a Kenwood mixer now which is not comparable quality wise, but is 10X the price of the Ambiano.
If you are looking for a stand mixer and not going to do huge batches at one time, I can highly recommend the Aldi mixer. It's even $30 cheaper than the time when I purchased it.

    • +4

i guess it might be OK for whisking eggs.

      • +2

I think for few baking stuffs…

    • How di you manage to get your money back after nearly three years? Aldi electrical products usually have one year warranty.

      • +1

Aldi do advertise a 3 year warranty on this product. However; getting a warranty, of any kind, even the Australian 12 month one out of Aldi is hit and miss, generally miss.

      • +2

It had a 3 year warranty. I contacted the company for a claim, they said as they no longer had parts to service the model I had, so I was given my money back. I didn't even have the receipt, I showed them the statement on my bank account which enough for them to give me a $99 refund.

    • +3

it looks like a mixer and sounds like a mixer, it just breaks if you mix things

we have one too, what annoys me the most is that the mixer attachments dont reach to the edges of the bowel.

      • The Kenwood mixer doesn't do it either, you can adjust it but then when u put things inside the bowl it scratches the attachment against the bowl. Even though it appears it doesn't scrape off everything in the bowl, it is still mixing it.

      • +2

Well you wouldn't want the dough hook to reach the edge of your bowel do you ;) ?

  • +2

600W isn’t powerful enough isn’t powerful enough for dough

    • +12

      You can say that again.

    • +4

600W isn’t powerful enough isn’t powerful enough for dough

Are you reporting from inside a cave or well?

      • +1

        or from mountains :)

    • 600W isn’t powerful enough isn’t powerful enough for dough

      Yes, and no.

No in the case of Kitchen Aid mixers that use low wattage high torque motors (almost all under 350w) they mix dough effortlessly.

  • better off buying a kenwood chef on gumtree and cleaning it up.

Unlike this unit spare parts will be available for the next 50 years.

  • I bought a smith and noble one from harris scarfes here in Adfelaide for $99.00 and it is a thousand watt model

Had it for 6+ months and it gets used a lot and t hasn't missed a beat

Wonder if the Aldi one will sell out in under 3 minutes likie the Air fryer did the other day

What Aldi should do is if that store only had say 6 of the air fryers someone from Aldi's should hand out 6 tickets to the people lining up first in line gets a ticket second in line etc

That way you can only purchase one with your ticket and saves the idiots pushing and shoving each other

    • There are a range of items on special each week at Aldi.
I'm not sure that handing out individual tickets for each individual item that you want to buy is a practical idea.

    • Can't imagine Aldi handing out tickets during winter gear special..lol

  • -3

anyone tired of aldi posts here, do we really need weekly catalogue relays, everyone who's into aldi is already looking at the special buys.
it's not like anyone on ozB DOESN'T know what aldi is…

    • +13

If you don't like it you can hide Aldi deals.

      • -3

hiding it wont change the fact that it's been unnecessarily ozBargained though, which usually leads to faster than usual sell out times.
The posting of Aldi stuff in ozB is like posting Maccas App deals, sure I could hide it (actually didn't know i could until now) but it still shouldnt be there to begin with

      • +2

And Coles and Woolworths and Amazon and…

    • +11

I've been looking at stand mixers lately but I don't look at the Aldi catalogue every week, so this was helpful. Plus people talk about their experience with the units too which is extremely helpful!

  • +1

I bought a very similar looking mixer via an ozbargain deal approx 5 or 6 years ago, it cost me $20 inc. delivery if I remember correctly.

At the time I thought that it was an amazing deal, but when I tried it I realised that it was only an "ok" deal….the speed was a little too slow. It sat under my house unused, then I ended up selling it on gumtree for $50 about 3 years later.

    • ahaha love when you can sell a useless bad buy for profit.
I did the same with bike xD

  • Aldi has Delonghi products including mixer on next week

  • -1

What's review for Kogan one…it is 1400 watt for 100 bucks… may be some delivery cost too.
