Thumper Max Dual Air Compressor + Kings 3in1 Ultimate Air Tool - Airflow Rating of 300L/Min - $153.95 Shipped @ 4WD Supa Centre

60
WELCOME10

From their website:
- Dual 60mm high speed reciprocating pistons for maximum output - High airflow rating of 300L/min
- Aluminium cast cylinder heads with incorporated heat sinks
- Inbuilt pressure switch which cuts power automatically to prevent over-pressure, plus circuit breaker and automatic thermal cut-out
- 8m heavy duty rubber hose with inline pressure gauge
- Large, easy to read and accurate 1-60psi Gauge
The Thumper Max MkII features the same proven electronic pressure cut off as the original Thumper Max, which means if you combo it with an optional Adventure Kings 3in1 Ultimate Air Tool you can turn the compressor on and off with the inflator in your hand while you’re airing up – just like at the servo!

Comments from users are very positive. Bag and gauge that come with the compressor seem to be rubbish though. The compressor is loud but super quick to inflate (e.g. from reviews: Inflated 10.5x31x15 tyre from dead flat to 40 lbs in 2 mins including 4 stops to check pressure. Will run blow-nozzle and air wrench). Need a good battery as the current it drags is quite high.
Welcome10 for new users + shopback. Not sure if the code would work with cashrewards though as not listed on website.

Neither the Amazon ones listed above come with the inflator tool, for the extra 19.90 it's a lot more convenient to use…haven't priced one of those separately, you could probably get a generic one for around that price anyway.

Kings pricing fluctuates almost daily, and changes in freight pricing or free freight…

They suit a purpose and at a price point, the couple of King's products I've bought have been….ok. not great, but ok.

    • Yes the air tool is a must, without it you have to go back to the compressor and turn it off then go back to the tyre to read the tire pressure. Plus its much easier to clip it on to the valve then the screw on one on the Amazon unit. Worth the extra $20.

      • Nah the air tool is crap. I have it. Is such a pain to kneel down next to the tyre holding onto the trigger to inflate the tyres the whole time. On top of that, the clip on valve inflator is pretty rubbish and doesn't seem to clip on fully depressing the valve core so the tyre doesn't get full air flow thus taking even longer to inflate, unless while you are kneeling and holding onto the trigger you are also holding the clip on valve inflator against the valve itself to depress the valve core fully. Plus the gauge is pretty inaccurate so if you are a bit pedantic with tyre pressures you will want to check it against a separate tyre gauge you trust and adjust accordingly.

I went back to the crappy screw on one as it's just as inaccurate as the air tool and as the pump is inflating, just pressing the deflation button to get a rough gauge on where the pressure is at and inflating the tyre a little over what I want and adjusting down with my trusted gauge. So much easier as you can just stand up and walk around doing other things/drink beer whilst the tyres are airing back up.

        • I put a cable tie around the handle, so when the trigger is squeezed you just slip it over the trigger and it stays on. Problem solved.

Also i have internal TPMS on my tires and this Michellin guage in the glove box and the compressor is about 3psi out which is ok.

But yes the air tool isnt high quality that's for sure.

    • I didn't realise how useful the inflator tool would be, so just got the basic item direct from 4WD Supa Centre. When I went to get the inflator tool, they wanted shipping, but their eBay store had it for the same price as the shop store, with free shipping.

After buying it, I realised it is probably too powerful for a machine to add a couple of PSI to the tyres on my Territory. Still … no waiting around for a cheapie unit to do the job.

I have the single piston MKIII. The bag ripped as i lifted it up on 2nd use which was a few months away since purchased. The quick disconnect on the hoses started leaking air and does not stay connected sometimes at around the 10th month time.
Honestly speaking, i wouldn't trust this if i was in the outback.

    • I have had my MkII for a few years and yep you're right about the fittings Have used it what feels like hundreds of times as I do a hell of a lot of 4wd trips. I cut off the original fittings off the hose as they are permanently crimped on and refitted Nitto fittings and lock wired them on as I didn't trust them either. Bag is crap but mine is still going albeit with a few holes in it. Still holds everything in it. They don't inflate anywhere near as fast as claimed as with all 4wdsupercentre gear they have exaggerated claims but easy to look at reviews online to see how they go against other brands.

      • Did you crimp your fittings to the original hose? I was thinking of replacing fittings but i have no idea how to go about it. Seems like you can either use hose clamps, which sounds like a crap idea, or you crimp the fittings on?

        • I used nitto fitting the with correct size hose barb and instead of hose clamps I used lock wire like you use on dirt bike grips. Small hose clamps would work ok as well. I am not a fan of crimps as they are too hard to fix on the trails.

        • What’s wrong with hose clamps? I used them on my compressor hose so that if a hose splits in the bush it only takes a few seconds to loosen the clamp, cut the hose and reinstall fitting and clamp.

    • +1 to new fittings on the hose. I got some with the "hamburger" (my words) stainless steel crimp clamps. Using a single piston Thumper which has done a lot of air ups on 6 tyres - tug and Camper trailer.

  • I'm on the lookout for a bushranger max air iii. Hopefully I can find one in the low 200 range
