    Legend!! Time to stock up

Had their almond milk the other day and it's really good. It actually tastes of almonds because they use roasted almond paste (aka almond butter?) instead of soaking in almonds.

  • Best soy milk. Will go load up.

  • I thought this was the best soy milk, then I tried the new so good barista edition at woollies. Everyone should try it, the whole range tastes AMAZING — but IMO particularly the oat milk

    • +1

Interesting, I've had a lot of issues lately with so good curdling when I add to my coffee. I wonder if they've cut some costs and changed the formula of the normal so good and added this option.

      • Oh really? Can’t say I’ve used the normal so good, so I can’t comment. But neither the barista soy nor oat (or almond for that matter) curdle at all with my stovetop steamer guided by a thermometer.

        • Depends on the coffee too. More acidic beans are more likely to curdle it.

  • I'm going to do a double blind test on myself with this and the Woolies $1.60 one which has more organic soy in it - 17% v 14%.

    • +3

I suggest even a sniff test will draw a clear difference.

    • The main difference is the amount sugar in the Woolies and Coles ones. It tastes so sweet in comparison. I usually go Bonsoy from Aldi…$3.99

  • +5

Aldi has them at $3.90 every single day of the year

    • +17

Yes, but it’s not $3.50 which makes it an OzBargain.

    • +1

Oh, thank you, I did not know Aldi has it for $3.90 regularly.

Been paying $4.80 from Woolies when Aldi is literally meters away. Will check it out in the future.

My local cafe has it for $4.00, but I feel guilty walking in not buying a coffee, but buying a coffee negates the saving, so…:D

      • +1

        Dont feel bad,

The cafe wouldnt be selling it unless they profiting from it,

I would buy a case and a coffee for the walk back, win win.

  • i've recently have been trying to make the switch from regular to soy milk; so far i've tried coles boxed brand (ugh) and evergreen 2l bottles (good). how does this fare?

    • +3

      Try before you buy.
Also, basically every cafe in Australia seems to be using Bonsoy.

    • +4

Basically this is hands down the best for coffee milk drinks. I would say there isnt much of a soy beany taste, thus being the best for coffee. However if you’re looking to drink it plain, its probably not worth it and there are cheaper alternatives available.

      • +1

Happy Happy Soy Boy is also tops: https://www.happyhappysoyboy.com/

I usually buy whatever one is cheaper at the time.

        • My money, if I buy from a cafe, has to be with happy happy soy boy over bonsoy for a flat white. But Oatly barista edition trumps both, if they have it

    • I wouldn't get it for straight up drinking, or even to eat with cereal. There are better (subjective) and cheaper options.

Cafes use it probably because it froths closest to milk.

Almost all cafes I go to use Bonsoy, so kind of used to the taste when mixed with shots of espresso, and that's why I get it to go with coffee.

      • Also I think it's less likely to curdle when added to acidic coffee like many cheaper soy options.

    • +1

Try Sanitarium Barista oat milk. (Do not confuse with So Good or other Sanitarium milks - only the Barista Oat, maybe the other Barista branded ones too but I havn't tried them - I find So Good and the others very bad tasting).

    • It's a trial and error thing. I have been drinking Soy Milk for 10 years and there are so many brands I think are horrible to taste. Bonsoy is my fav but depends if you want to spend $4 each I guess…I haven't found a cheaper alternative that I truely like.

  • is it sugar free?

    • +2

You can check the ingredients. There's no added sugar, but contains naturally occurring sugar.

      • +1

Sugar and Fat in soymilk is relatively low, a healthier alternative than full cream milk :)

  • Thanks for the heads up, will stock up some. Some cafes have them for less than supermarkets' regular price, good places to look when they are not on special.

  • +1

I can't wait to empty my store and add more to my soy bunker, I cant function without this anymore, I consume a steady stream intravenously 240ml an hour. Cheers for sharing deal op 👍

  • Great, need some more anyway.
Prefer this on sale than vitasoy soy milk which is never on sale anymore (and Chinese owned)

    • Damn, I didn't know it was Chinese owned now.

      Will stop buying.

      • Yeah that and it's never on special, used to be good for $2.

Picked up 6x bonsoy today, best for coffee

  • +1

    Job's Tears

How are they harvesting his tears when he's dead? OR IS HE ACTUALLY ALIVE? Omg conspiracy.

    • He cried after they started making the iPad after he said Apple would never make anything bigger than a 5 inch screen.

  • +1

This is good but personally I find Happy Soy Boy to be even better, especially with coffee.

    • Where do you usually buy it and how much?

      • You can source it at some cafes but they usually charge $5+

        • That's right, $5.20 per litre but well worth every cent - I buy mine from https://www.huntersroots.com/s/order

They do delivery, either for free or for a fee depending on where you are and how much you buy. Their food is also amazingly delicious and healthy.

    Soy milk gives man boobs

    • +3

      Nah that's beer.

Found a way to get it below $3 per L

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/538506

With this deal, theoretically, if you buy more than 28 Bonsoy, say for example 50. Assuming you have free shipping from Woolworths Online (can do free month trial), total cost would be $149.62.

    50 x $3.50 -> $175 -> 10% off Woolworths Online -> $157.50 -> 5% off Woolworths Gift Cards -> $149.62 ~ $2.99 each

Saving off RRP ($4.80) by ~37.5%. Or saving from Aldi price ($3.90) by ~25%.

Adding to this Woolworths Rewards points, the above calculation would net you 150 Rewards points with the following 1000 points and $10 off spend at Woolworths, 150 would be $1.50 off.

    • Anyone know what the expiry date on the current batch is?

    • I can't seem to buy the bonsoy online, so hack won't work if you're an avid bonsoy drinker.

    • Nice. This is what I come to ozbargain for. Won't be doing it though but I love the extreme thrift ideas.

  • -4

    soy taste like soil

    • this one is from japan though…

    • -1

Come on. Don’t neg me until you taste macadamia, oat or even almond. Wayyyyy better than soy

  • +1

Some Gloria Jeans and McDonald's (being franchises probably all of them), use "Vitasoy Cafe for Baristas", most independent cafes I have visited use Bonsoy for Soy and Milk Lab for almond.

Bonsoy also has almond, which is currently on sale at Woolworths for $3.70, not bad but would stick with soy.

    • Almond milk is mostly water though.

      • Bonsoy is mostly water too, it’s the first ingredient listed on the box. Actual milk is also mostly water.

        • Look at the percentage listed though. Minimum 14% soy vs how many for almond?

  • -2

standard price at Aldi is $3.99

    • +2

      This is cheaper.

      • -1

        No shit 🙄

  • Isnt this ozbargain? why not buy a Xiaomi Soybean Milk Maker
