    This is better value IMO

    • That looks like a neat little unit. Thanks for the link. Do you have one? Would it run things like Zwift and Minecraft ok?

      • +1

Hey yeah I have the i7 version will easily play Minecraft and run zwift.

    • Agreed. A slight bump in CPU performance and a larger (but still small) SSD don't justify a $100 increase, especially when you lose the bonus of the Lenovo's small form factor.

    • Too bad it's back to OOS again now

I couldn't justify $300 for the G1. Used G3's (6th gen processors) are occasionally down to mid to high $400s.

    • Agreed, this price for a 4th gen Haswell unit is just isn't competitive.

  • Price seems to be a bit hard to swallow at first glance…

However, I believe the seller put a current 240GB SSD and swap the DDR3 RAM to 8GB to this system and these 2 components worth ~$120 alone already.

Reality is this refurbish PC will run much smoother than a new cheap Celeron notebook with HDD and it may still have room for addition HDD upgrade.

Sure, but when you can put together a superior brand new system with warranty for $100 more, this isn't good value.

Alternatively, stick with second-hand (which is what these "refurbished" items are) and you can find plenty of 8GB/4570/120GB systems for $200 or so.

This would be a decent deal at $199, but not $299.

      • Is a AMD Athlon 3000G better than a Intel 4570?

        • Better single-threaded performance, but loses some ground in multi-threaded workloads. It's also a lower TDP part, so less heat and (theoretically at least) less noise.

The main reason the build I posted is better is upgradability (i.e., there is some). You could put a 3200G in that rig for ~$80 more and have a genuinely decent PC, even add a GPU.

      • I guess the only issue here is the cost for a legit license for Windows 10 (and without going a dodgy VLK).

        • If you're buying a $200 PC, you can put up with the restrictions on the non-activated Windows ;)

    • Any PC that survived 3 years+ doesnt have any consequental imperfections in any of its parts, is going to be stable and last many more years, provide you use it appropriately.

An elchepo notebook might see a 25% failure rate within the first 2 years, and U end up with a spare HDD.

      • What's the point when comparably priced new parts (when compared with upgrading this unit) will have an actual warranty that will sufficiently cover the bathtub curve?

  • Any good for blueiris? Or any other recommendation? Thanks.
