Plenty of hate around here… geez.

For those saying "not another streaming platform", have you tried not signing up to every one at the same time? I'm only signed up to Kayo and Amazon Prime (Video). I've previously subbed to Netflix for a month or two while there was something I wanted to watch, same deal with Stan. But never at the same time. Easy way to save a bit of money.

In terms of hardware support, I'd highly recommend an Apple TV. I've previously been one of those "anti Apple" people, and when I bought the Apple TV a few years ago (my first purchased Apple product), I couldn't have been happier, has every app I ever wanted. I specifically bought it when Optus first got the rights for EPL and released the Optus Sport app.

Now onto Binge itself. I signed up earlier today. Straight forward. If you're already a Kayo subscriber, you simple sign in with your existing details. It's called your "Streamotion" account, as both Kayo and Binge are under the same umbrella. Existing billing information was also there, nothing to input.

Plenty of premium content to tide me over for a couple of months I think.

EDIT: Review on Gizmodo for those interested; https://www.gizmodo.com.au/2020/05/binge-streaming-foxtel-re…

  • Love how sometimes OzB devolves (or evolves) into philosophical/existential ruminations. Doesn't happen often, but this deal has just the right level of ennui and vitriol. Bravo!

  • More competition is clearly, demonstrably worse for consumers when it comes to TV distribution. When will the delusion amongst the people losing their money in this arrangement end?

  • Does anyone know if any of the Nickelodeon kids shows are part of this?

    • Not that I can see. The programming seems targeted towards a more mature audience.

    • It’s not based on Foxtel channels
They simply load up shows from their catalogue to binge watch at your leisure.
Made for Foxtel programs are excluded while they are current and only shows which they have “streaming rights” to will be shown
Nickelodeon is owned by ViacomCBS so programs from that network would be more likely found on 10 All Access due to the streaming rights being limited with Foxtel to their IQ boxes etc. where as 10 all access is also owned by ViacomCBS

Have been waiting for a HBO sub for years. Will happily pay for this.

    • Just remember new HBO shows and HBO Max shows will premiere on Foxtel first then move to binge (with some confirmed exceptions)

  • Not sure if already mentioned but day 1 lists below.

    Movies: https://www.finder.com.au/binge-movies
    TV Shows: https://www.finder.com.au/binge-tv-shows

    • Had a quick look at those lists, not sure how complete and accurate they are.

I noticed earlier today Westworld is on Binge, but didn't see it on the TV Shows list you linked.

      • Westworld is definitly showing on the list.
        Seasons 1-3
Make sure you're checking the TV list not Movies

It's been updated since I posted. Thanks for clarifying.

No app for console. That's pretty weak dude.

    • Oh that's a total dealbreaker for me

    My review:

Content-wise, this is the best streaming platform we have available to us. They really don't seem to be holding back on us here. The price is okay too (I guess). I even like the design of the platform. Definitely a step up overall compared to when I last tried Foxtel Now a while back.

I had some bugs with the interface on my NVidia SHIELD but they didn't break anything and I would like to think these would be ironed out.

The video quality is probably fine for most but it doesn't quite do it for me personally. Unfortunately that's a deal breaker for me. I don't want to be constantly tempted to find better quality versions of the shows. His Dark Materials was even running at 5000kbs but the image just didn't look super great compared to my… other copy I just happened to find on the internet…

Hopefully they improve this at some point. I might give it a second look if they do an app for LG TV's or make any sort of announcement of improving quality.

    • For the price structure they have it really should offer 4K HDR support in 2020. Prime supports it for a fraction of the cost. As does Netflix at highest tier for similar price.

No subtitles is a glaring issue. I thought they were mandatory.

Other than that, content selection is good although the UI needs work.

I've sent support a message, saying they need to add Watch History, with the ability to delete items from it.

I clicked on something by accident and immediately clicked back (literally played for half a second), now it's stuck on my Continue Watching section.

  • Seems chrome maxes out at 720p for me. Best to use a different browser.

    • Generally this is because Chrome doesn't support the DRM needed by the site.

On the bright site it also means that you can screen record the shows in Chrome.

I see they have a voucher option on the website. I hope these start popping up just like Presto did a few years ago.

  • is this expired?

  • Seems expired, only standard one week trial available
