  • So when you hop back & forth between Kogan & Catch, do you need a new Sim card each time? Or just the first time, each? If it does require a new sim, presumably via mail, when would it be ideal to order it before the current credit expires?

    • +2

Based on experience with porting to and from Kogan and Catch, but not from one to the other, I would say that, yes, you would need to use a new SIM.

  • Sorry i have a few questions. If someone could answer. What is a new customer? No active service with kogan mobile? Also could i but multiple vouchers with same account? Also can i port in a existing number? Thanks

    • The Mod note tells us it is for port in only. As long as it isn't an ex-Kogan number that has been ported away withing the last month, it's a 'new' number regardless of whether or not you have another Kogan service.

  • Is there any online chat support for Kogan Mobile? I can't find it - have submitted multiple tickets via email since yesterday with 0 non-automated response. Can't get through on the phone - after being on hold/listening to bloated menu option lists for over 20 minutes x2 the call has just dropped/been hung up on before I got to anybody.

    • +1

I have been trying to get support as well. No reply to my ticket. I couldn't find a number to call them. What did you find?

My issue is that the SIM pack I have is expired. When I try to activate on-line, I get an error message that the number and sim card number is invalid. Support sites show that the issue is most likely an expired sim pack.

      • +3

Kogan Mobile Customer Care phone numbers are:1300056426 or 12612
Registration/activation of SIM: Your prepaid service can be activated on the Kogan Mobile website or by calling 1300056426 or 12612

        • Cheers. I finally heard back from the support people. Long story short, faulty SIM. And I have to pay for a new one! Righty-o!

  • I've been postpaid for a long time, trying to take advantage of cheap prepaid.

If I were to buy the Kogan sim now, & activate it in just under 4 weeks, would I still have the 90 days from the day I activate it (seems that their SIM cards last up to 365 days without activating but I'm not sure if this plan has the same expiry length & whether the 90 days begins the moment you purchase it or the moment you activate it)

    • of course the moment you activate.

    • +1

Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEST on 30/06/2020.

The 90 days starts when you port/activate, however you'll be close to the voucher expiry if you're activating in 4 weeks. I usually just buy a sim 1 or 2 weeks before I need it.

      • Thank you. Couldn't find the voucher expiry date, only the Sim expiry

  • How long does their SIM delivery take?
Mine were posted 18 May. 2 while weeks and still have not arrived (WA).

  • Can you use a sim card you get from woolworths instead of waiting for the one they post.

    • +2

Kogan mobile website days Kogan SIMs are available from 7/11s and United petrol stations. No mention of anywhere else so Woolworths probably don't have them. Note though that the 2 7/11s I checked bear me dint have Kogan SIMs and the United petrol station enployee said they didn't have Kogan SIMs. I need one for my wife. The one being sent out by Kogan hadn't arrived and her Boost plan runs out today.

      • So I think she'll be on the phone to Kogan to get the port going when Aus Post are able to deliver the SIM pack. I went to Catch Connect end of April from Boost to be able to port back to Telstra for the next good Samsung S10 or S20 JB Hifi deal. Sadly the Optus tower near me has had an outage since I ported to Catch 34 days ago. Mobile reception at home is 1 bar on the Optus network. Sometimes zero.

      • I can't remember where I got it from (over a year) I thought it was woolies but must have been 7-11.

  • +1

    This deal seems useful for some extra data cheap or their 40gb/30 day plan for $4.90, but I have a few questions;
As I need some data on the cheap (cheaper than Belong 40gb for $40).
Which I'll use for downloading new PC build w10 updates & some games this week/asap.

1> With the 90 days expiry, does any unused data roll over to the 2nd/3rd month (within 90 days), say if there's a few gb left?
2> Since this deal expires today, do I have to get a sim kit today (7/11) or just buy this today from them/omline & wait for a sim from them?
3> If I go with the 40gb/30 days plan, should I get a few more v codes today or just before the 30 days end (3-4 days before), if they extend this promo?

Currently on Belong & have about 60gb left, from the 120gb promo a few months back.

Good luck getting a Kogan SIM from 7/11. I found none in 2 stores yesterday in SE Melbourne. Trying a third this afternoon.

      • That sucks.
So does that mean buying from their site today would be too late?

        7/11 website sucks too.

        • +1

If ýour current plan isn't expiring for the 5-9 days Auspost will take to deliver the SIM pack from Kogan you can still order the 90 SIM from Kogan today then activate it when it arrives to start the port-in.

          • +1

@Galaxyman: Or sit tight with a phone that can't make outgoing calls for a few days if your plan does expire.

          • @Galaxyman: Thanks heaps Galaxyman.

I don't need it asap, as I will keep my Belong for now, still have data left with them.
As they have started suspending accounts for people doing the port in/out thing with promo deals & Coles/Woolies % off.

Still deciding this or their other deal ($4.90/40gb/30 days).
And then buy 2nd activation code before the first SIM runs out of data, or expires.

I assume both these deals don't need to port in yeah?, prefer not to.

Looking for cheapest option to download some games on new PC build this week and YouTube vids til my local library opens up again, in late June.

            Just need to work out q 1 & 3.

            Cheers OP

Boost only sent my wife a reminder sms for her plan expiry 3 days before it expired so try to set a reminder if you are on Boost for a week or two before. Then there is time to get another SIM for a good value plan before the Boost plan expires.

  • I'll likely port to kogan on a deal like this when my Catch Connect plan is coming to an end in July. The Catch 90 day plan was only $5 for 90 days after Cashback. Under 2 bucks a month with 20gb a month is cheap as.

  • What do they mean by 'new customer'? Is it one month or 3 months for you to be deemed as a new customer?

    • 30 Days - on that number. You can have other Kogan accounts active and still claim this offer. They do, however, start asking for more info if you state you have over 4 active SIMs [ over all Australian carriers] rather than the 5 that ACMA[?] mandate extra identification reqirements are needed for.

  • anyone received this yet? nearly a week and have not received this yet in metro melbourne

  • +4

It seems that the offer has been extended today (01/06/2020). The vouchers purchased from now on will expire on 31/12/2020. There is no info yet for how long the deal will be available.

  • +1

Haven't received the SIM pack yet that was ordered 6 days ago but my wife got one a Kogan SIM at a United Service last Sunday after trying a third 7-11 in vain. I activated it on Sunday after 5pm and it was ported from Boost to Kogan within 10 minutes. I was surprised at the speed of the port process. When the ordered SIM finally arrives we'll have a spare if I want to bounce over to Kogan from Catch Connect in two months.

    • Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEST on 30/06/2020.

  • +2

Dodo have an ongoing product for domestic calls and text (no international included) for $5 a month using Optus. Good deal if you have a dual SIM phone. You can keep buying these kogan and the catch connect deals for cheap data and no pesky porting is needed.

    • +1

Note though that MMS is not included in the DODO $5 offering and it is $10 for 2gb add-on. International text messaging is unlimited. International calls up to 100min are a $5 add-on per month. I got my elderly mother onto the $5 plan. She doesn't using MMS or mobile data so it's ideal for her.

    • Apologies to OP for straying off topic but the combo of these cheap 90 day deals plus a cheap ongoing call and sms primary number may suit some Ozbargainers.

      • Never had a problem porting between Catch and Kogan. Why spend more than you have to?

  • +1

    Expiry 31/012/2020. ??????

    • yeah no way thats correct.

    • Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEST on 31/12/2020.

  • $13.90 via Kogan App! Expires tonight.

    • Yep, save $1

  • Not terms say voucher to be activated by 31/12/2020

  • The link is now for ports only. Maybe the title should be updated?

$4.90 30 day SIMs are currently unavailable.

  • Urrrghhhh….didnt pay attention and they changed it to port over and I dont have anything to port over….great.

    • +1

Vodafone have their $40 sims on sale for $9.90 on their website. You could use that for a month and then port to Kogan.

  • Late to the party and current kogan credit expires tonight. Planning to buy a $2 telstra sim to port into and then port out back to this deal on a Saturday. Would there be any issues?

    • +1

You need to wait for about 30 days to port back in. So you can port to Catch 60G/90days $14.9 plan than port back.
      Don't forget the cash back.

      • Thanks will know for next time. Had to bite the bullet and renew with yearly plan

      • +1

Isn't the Catch Connect 60GB 90-day plan for $14.90 discontinued? Its now $60 for 60GB 90-day plan without any offer at the moment. Lot of heartbreaks here:
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/544898

  • Ah…I made a mistake. I forgot to cancel the auto-renewal and it renewed my 3 months prepaid at $99.90. Damn.

    • U can call them to shift the 3m plan to a 6/12 m plan which is cheaper comparatively.

  • For porting over to Kogan from my existing Amaysim, will I need any credit / active plan on Amaysim to 'SEND' any reply to the porting SMS received, or are we supposed to enter the code on Kogan's website during the activation by porting?

    • same question here!

  • +1

anyone see any issues with the following plan?

    1. buy 2 Kogan 90 day sims, and activate one before the end of june
    2. buy the Belong $25 starter pack and use for 3 months as per (this deal)[https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/544768]
    3. activate the second Kogan 90 day sim
    4. lather, rinse, repeat

if the Belong sim doesn't expire for 12 months from the purchase date, presumably i could buy a second Belong starter pack in preparation with no issues?

    any feedback is most appreciated

    • +1

Yes that should be ok. Personally I would buy the Kogan sim within a month of when I needed it as I just don't trust them.
But I have used Belong sims 6 months after buying them. I would have no problem leaving them longer.

Also if you know someone else on Belong you could gift your remaining data to them, then gift it back to yourself when you come back. I did this as a favour for a member on here once.

  • I just activated Kogan sim and requesting to port my number from Catch to Kogan this morning. It is normal no signal in valid for Kogan Sim while waiting number to port over?

  • No longer need to port in for this deal. Can still get it with a new number from Kogan. Maybe edit the post OP.

  • +1

Can someone please let Mod know this is back in stock, my account reported once, can't report again. Thanks

  • Deal is still valid as of 12/07/20. Just bought one!

  • does kogan mobile support wifi calling?

  • So just confirming
Now its only available if you are porting a number in from different carrier.

I have 3 family members swapping over, can I buy 3 simultaneously or do I have to buy separate since its one per customer?

    • +1

You can buy 3 in one transaction, but they will only send you one SIM card for free. So if you need a new Kogan SIM card for each family member, better buy in separate transactions.

      • you were right, pretty much

tried to order 3, but only 2 sim cards, so I split the order up into 2+1, and got 3 sims

im finding the definitions of new customer vs port over customer really awkward when it comes to these plans

  • On activation Kogan asks for a credit card, including authorisation of the full $99 for the second lot of 90 days.

How to avoid being charged this full $99?

    • Disable auto recharge

      • Thank you. Logged in and did this now.

  • Question: Can you buy this now for later use? In other words, is there is time limit from receipt until the SIM is activated?

    • Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEDT on 31/12/2020

  • How long does it take to receive the SIM card after ordering?

  • What are people using after 3 months?

  • Merged from Kogan Mobile Prepaid Voucher Code: LARGE (90 Days | 20GB Per 30 Days) - Port over Offer- $14.90

    • +1

Will this work for previous customers currently not with Kogan?

      • Yep. Just ported back to Kogan from being with Belong for last three months. Was with Kogan before Belong

    • They can do better; they had this at $9.99

    • +1

Isn't it time for $0.99 40 GB sim ? They had this offer once each for the last two months.

      • I saw on TV tonight that there is a big sale soon and Kogan Mobile will be involved.

    • Thanks OP

    • The unique Kogan Mobile voucher included as part of this product cannot be redeemed for cash. Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEDT on 31/12/2020. Activation or recharge must be made before the voucher expiry date. Voucher does not apply to subsequent recharges. Voucher cannot be used in conjunction with any other vouchers or promotional offers. For information about how to use Kogan Mobile vouchers, click here.

      31/12 expiry for those wondering

      • was looking out for the expiry as i have my current plan just renewed with amaysim

  • I ported to wrong number! And i lost that sim card, im an idiot! Anyway to fix this or should i just buy another plan and link it properly?

    • You used on the other number so the voucher is used, buy a new voucher.

      • ok thanks for reply! So frustrating!
