preparation advice. Meaning not actually preparing or completing your return. So what exactly is this offering?

    P.S. looks like an ad

    • +3

Looks like an ad, smells like an ad… it's a duck.

    (OzBargain Users Only) ?????

    Why ?

  • +3

Jeez - how much do you charge normally for "Preparation, Advice"

  • +3

Most accountants don't give out free advice - they think their time is worth more than yours or mine.
    + to free advice

  • +2

guess ozbargainers won't be writing much off as charitable deductions :)

  • +2

Most ozbargainers submit their own etax on July 1 in order to have their return back ASAP.

    • +9

wrong - the best way is to owe the government money :)

    • meh, my tax accountant claims extra things that i wouldnt even know i could claim claiming more than there costs… i used to use etax, until i tried a decent accountant.

  • +1

wow .. impressive. So you're saying, i can call up - say Im from ozbargain, and ask specific questions about my tax? Plus from me. (I've got a pretty curly complicated tax return!)

    • yeah and they will probably say, bring it in and we'll help you out when it requires more than 10 seconds to answer :P (at a cost of course)

though giving out free advice does work well sometimes, when people genuinly do have difficult situations and wouldnt be able to do it by themselves regardlessly.

Neg for too little detail, too much advertising. If you've been a member for a month like the OP, you'd have a fair idea of what people want to know.

  • Nothing but an ad.

    • +7

I could post the same deal and use the http://www.ato.gov.au website and quote the e-tax help line 13 28 61. The help line will also offer free tax preparation advice.

      • +1

ATO gives free advice normally, which is no different and not a bargain. Accountants work for the client and do not usually give free advice, thus this being a bargain.

      • my tax agent give me free initial consultation, only when i asked him to do my tax return then he start charged me for a fee. reading the information from the op, especially from the subject on the post, it only said free preparation advice, what is preparation advice? describe on the post, other wise this is an ads. full stop.

      • ATO doesn't give specific tax advice for your circumstances. So invalid comment.

        • Did i said ato?

  • +2

Yes in some ways it is an ad, but if you can call them up and ask if you are able to get a deduction for x etc, that is a steal. I know (as an ex-tax guy) that I would not be giving it out free.
Im sure they are hoping some people think, these guys are great lets use them in the future.
I actually think they will not get any $ business out of this and thus will never run it again.
    So +1 from me

  • Can you also give advice to people that receive a delay letter?

  • +1

Plz for god sake don't allow these advertisements tp publish otherwise soon OZB will full up with Ads rather than bargains.

  • ads

  • +1

If they can't understand the nature of bargain postings on OzB how do they understand the complexity of Aust tax rules? ;-) Is the advice to pay them to do your tax return?

  • +2

be careful with your personal details

  • +4

You aren't going to get free tax advice from a tax accountant so I think it's a fair call to post this, especially if you are an e-taxer.
People are more than happy when a $1.99 app is reduce to $0.99! I think the tax deal is a MUCH better saving.

  • Would like some feedback from anyone who has called up… I'll prob be giving it a go later this week. Thanks, OP.

  • spam

  • Reads more like an ad, than a bargain…

  • advert.

  • Not a bargain, just an ad

  • sounds "scammy"

  • ads

  • pay for your advertising mr bayside account

  • Seeing as how the rep has been online today but failed to address any of the concerns and questions..

    It's neg time!

  • Did anyone try it out?

If so, what sort of advice did they give?

    • if a lot of people use their service and good, i don't think op need to spam ozbargain this morning.
