I'm here waiting for all the comments about 1080p being awful for a 32" monitor 🍿

    • +56

      It is

    • +16

1080 is bad for 27", let alone 32", like OMFG bad

      • +5

1080 is fine at 27. Not everyone has their nose against the screen

        • +6

i have 1080 at 27inch, sorry but it is not fine. you say that but if you have a smaller second monitor say 23/24 at 1080 the difference is astounding. the 27 looks revolting, i couldnt imagine 32

          • @jonnys1n: Same reason I got a 21.5" 1080p. Cheaper and same pixels as a 24". For a 32" TV 1080p is fine because you are sitting far away.

For monitors it is unlikely you will be sitting more than an arm's length away. If you are suppose to then why don't they make monitors with remote controls?

          • @jonnys1n: I used tv screens for the longest time. I have moved up to 34" ultrawides, and the picture quality difference is only really shocking if you put them next to each other.

      • Lean a back a bit when you gaming.. 1. will be better for your spine (avoid nerd neck). 2. Will look perfectly fine at 1m away.

    • +3

I used one for years, although it was a 32" FHD TV. The text was pixel-y but it was still usable. It's good if you play PS4/XB1/Switch as those consoles like 1080p displays.

    • +4

In comparison to something better, well yes isn't anything? However in comparison to the 720P 42" I'm currently using I'm sure it's a dream

    • Is it good for reading excel or word documents?

      • +2

        definitely not imo

  • -5

    I bought a 2K 75Hz monitor just 2 months ago for $260.

    • +1

Cool. A buddy of mine bought an Asus ROG 2070S a few months ago for $700.

    • +2

Doesn't compare to my 1080p 144hz TN Asus for $233 delivered?

      • I tried to find an ASUS monitor with those specs for $233 delivered without success. Could you please give me the model number or better still, the link for that price?
        Thanks kronicmacstigator

  • Can be used as a TV screen using Vodafone TV?

    • +2

Sure, as a display. But there are no built in speakers, so you'll have to use the 3.5mm output for sound, and there is only one HDMI input.

    • +1

Of course. But don't think this has speakers. Not that you should use built in ones anyway

      • Just 3.5mm to a UE Boom/JBL/Bose/Logitech Computer Speakers, you should be fine.

  • +2

the text looks like badly pixelated minecraft like for 1080p in 32"

  • I've been using a Dell S440L (24" LED 1080p) for about 7 years now at home. Still going strong. Not using it for gaming or editing pics. Is it worth me upgrading to a new monitor?

Not this Aldi one, I'm talking more generally. Cheers!

    • +3

If it is still going strong, only you can answer if it's worth upgrading.

For designing I'm using a 1440 27" and it's much better. Wouldn't go back, only higher and bigger.

  • free sync compatible - yes
    1080p= blurry af

    • +1

We have a 1080p rioter here, you sir do not respect the Communist 1080p party you speak to loud about, and we do not take lightly on the offensive language of 1080p down with you, down with you. :')

  • +2

I'd look into xioami mi monitors, soon to come out.

    https://www.notebookcheck.net/Redmi-Display-1A-pre-sale-begi…

  • +15

Everyone's focused on the resolution. Did you see that it only covers 72% of srgb? Inaccurate colours. So using this as a TV display, you'd have to not be picky. There are TN panels more colour accurate than this.

    https://www.amazon.com/LG-32MP58HQ-P-32-Inch-Monitor-Screen/…

    Avoid.

    • +1

I can’t believe LG make this.

      • -1

Why? LG's LCDs are often crap.

        • +1

They make very good LCDs. My cheap ass 24MK430H-B is beautiful for the $150 I paid.

    • That's not correct, it doesn't show what it's 72% of. Given how common 72% of NTSC is used which usually describes approx 98% srgb, that would be far more plausible. The LG website states 68% of CIE1931, which is pretty useless.

      • If it were any good LG wouldn't hide the specs behind something as obscure to most people as CIE1931, but I'm not even sure where you found that reference. It's not in the spec on the Aussie site and not in the manual here:

        http://gscs-b2c.lge.com/downloadFile?fileId=RfSpYS7ZZes17w9o…

Not even quoting srgb means it is junk. Look I'd love to be wrong. The price is great.

      • CIE1931 is sRGB, source

    • According to LG it covers 68% of the CIE 1931 colour space, I don't know what I'm supposed to infer from this.

  • would of been great if it was a tv at that price and 1080p

    • can this be used with a Chrome Cast/Set Top Box to function as a TV?

      • Doesn't have speakers?

        • i've not used in built speakers on monitors/TVs for decades, but i'm sure there are people who do

      • You can but you would have to connect speaker via 3.5 jack

        • So pointless then

    • +1

Yeah it would HAVE been great, wouldn't it?

      • of

        even types it out…..

  • -3

    32 inch 4:3 - amazing

    • +3

      Isn't it 16:9?

    • +3

How did you get 4:3 ratio from 1920 by 1080 res? Amazing

      • -3

I got fooled by the thumbnail. Amazing

  • Welcome to 2018?

  • strange more people find this better than this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/8775016/redir

    • Maybe because not many people want a tiny 22 inch screen nowadays?

      • i post link to 24", its $150 currently, didn't see the store credit part tho so maybe it wasn't such a good a deal

    • +7

What is that, a monitor for ants?

  • -1

You'd have to sit this thing like two metres away.

I currently have a 32" 4K monitor and when it's only set to 1080 (because other old computer is old), everything is a little too big.

  • Better off getting the AOC Q3279VWFD8 for few bux extra. QHD + Freesync etc..

    • +1

Best price I could find was like 590.
See that it was once around for 300-350, but no stock.
Bummer, prolly would have bought one.

  • -2

At 60Hz its limited for gaming use - just in case someone is thinking this will go nicely with their recent upgrade or gaming rig

    • +3

      its limited

It will game in 60hz. Most PC and console gamers game at 60hz.

      • -1

I don't know about 'most' PC players - ask anyone that has a decent PC for gaming if they would use a 60Hz monitor?
If you have a gaming PC you won't have a 60Hz monitor. This might be great for other uses, but I still don't think it is useful for gaming on a PC :)

        • depends on whether the game is fast paced or not. for RPG games i prefer 4k@60hz. for FPS i like 2k@144hz

  • +1

i have a 1440p 32" and its not sharp. Imagine this one!

  • +2

It has about the worst pixel density of any monitor you could buy, but it's IPS. So would be a good monitor for old people or people with poor eyesight. Also good for viewing at a longer than typical distance, like for Xbox and PS gaming.

  • +1

1080p should be enough pixels for anybody

    • -1

      On a 32"? No chance.

1440p is just about okay. Don't advise 1080p on that size.

      • it's still pretty decent on 32 inch imho, and this is coming from someone who thought he could never go back from 4k.

  • +5

A lot of snobbery in this thread, not everyone is a gamer with a $3k desktop playing games 12 hours a day. This isn't for you.
A lot of people will be working from home for a significant time and a 1080p 32 inch monitor is a good alternative to a couple of 24 inch monitors, the price is good too.
2 months ago there was zero deals like this.
    Close to tax return time.

    • +5

a good alternative to a couple of 24 inch monitors

No it isn't, assuming the 24" monitors are the same resolution they will have twice the desktop area …

    • +4

No, it's really not good for WFH at that resolution. Have a 32" and tried both 1080p and 1440p resolutions. There's a huge difference in sharpness, text quality and eye fatigue. Not to mention real estate space to have multiple docs open.

60Hz aren't preferred by gamers so this isn't a gaming monitor by any stretch. Don't spread misinformation.

      • +1

Running your monitor which is native 1440p, at a resolution of 1080p will look considerably worse than a same sized monitor that is native 1080p.

Text being bigger at 1080p is correct though.

    • It's not snobbery. 1080p is horrible on a 32" screen

    • If you prefer a single monitor I would suggest an ultrawide (21:9) one. A single, bigger 16:9 monitor is not a replacement for 2 smaller ones.

    • +3

Agreed, have a 32" 1080p monitor for WFH and it does just fine. Sure it would be nicer to have 4k but it was cheap.

  • +3

I have the previous, non-freesync, version of this monitor. Yes the resolution is not ideal but, at a comfortable distance, it's really not that bad. People will no doubt say that's BS; it's definitely not ideal and it took a little getting used to, but not a deal breaker. The size is truly impressive and that was the true game-changer for me.
The panel quality was actually pretty good for the price; I prefer IPS over TN & VA so that was a win as well. 100% scaling for Windows is a very good size on monitor, nothing is too big or small, and it boasts zero issues with program compatibility unlike high res displays.
$250 for a 1080p freesync display would make it a pretty good option for compact multiplatform gaming setups; that's aside from the intended general purpose use of the monitor. Low-end PC gaming and console (Xbox One has freesync support) would provide a great crossover experience for people without the space for both a TV setup and desk setup. Sitting between TV and monitor sizes; it's pretty good to be used either at a desk with mouse & keyboard, or sitting back with a controller.
Y'all need to get over the resolution; a 1440p 32" monitor is double the price nowadays.

    • +1

people don't realise size doesn't matter that much because you can always adjust the distance, the only downside is the extra power consumption

  • +1

I use it as an external monitor for work and play switch and ps4 sometimes streaming movies but no pc games. Is this a good deal?

Got existing hdmil switcher with 3.5mm audio out

  • +1

i had a 32" 1080p for work and it was great. just make sure you turn the font aliasing and everything should be fine.

  • What's 4-in-1 screen mix ?

    • The 4-Screen Split feature conveniently divides your screen from 2 to 4 customisable subscreens of your preferred size, without any overlapping of windows. Compatible with Mac®, it provides 8 different screen ratios by a single click, making it simple and increasing your productivity.

  • The Old favourite for 32", Phillips BDM3201FD.
I was using that as a third monitor for a few days was pretty good. I was expecting much worse.. Or my eyes are worse than I thought

Just had some PDF drawings open when working on a large tender

The other screens were 1440p on my carbon and my 27" 1440p

  • I have this:

    https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/philips-31…

For DOCX, pdf, xlsx it is perfectly fine, no pixel issues which effect me.

There seems to be lots of differing views on 1080 32' monitors. Does the differing views have more to do with the graphics card, and perhaps if you are gaming v ms Office use?

  • -2

    Lol at a 32" @ 1080p.. terrible
    good for gaming? No
    good for work? No
good for 24/7 po@n streaming.. Yes..

Popeye owned a 32MP58 , why do you think his arm was so big and he squinted lots, tried using it as a WFH monitor but the terrible quality of the text caused him to squint.. then he figured out what a 32" @ 1080p's only purpose is, the rest is history

  • If that was oled in Aldi I'd race in there first thing in the morning camping out.

  • How about this for WFH $252 AOC 27B1H/75 27in Full HD Ultra Slim Monitor
    https://m.catch.com.au/product/aoc-27b1h-75-27in-full-hd-ult…

  • 32MP58HQ for $257 at Amazon :D

  • not along ago you could buy new freesync 31.5 inch 144hz acer monitors from umart for $300. the model number is ed322qrp
They've gone up in price since though probably due to 'rona

  • Review for this monitor https://youtu.be/1NBOh6d-5v4

I'm going to get this one.

There were only 3 at the Hampton Park branch. I found from others they also had only 3 in stock at other stores. That's bait advertising:
    https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/advertising-promotions/fal…

"Bait advertising takes place when an advertisement promotes certain (usually ‘sale’) prices on products that are not available or available only in very limited quantities. It is not misleading if the business is upfront in a highly visible, clear and specific manner about the particular product ‘on sale’ being in short supply or on sale for a limited time."

Having a generic footer fine print "while stocks last" is not in my opinion upfront in a highly visible, clear and specific manner about the particular product.3 items for a major supermarket chain is not a reasonable quantity. Baits people into the store to purchase their other products.

  • Sold out in Aldi's Cannon Hill and Wynnum shortly after 8 am. One employee told me they only had 3 for sale…

  • Went to Morley WA about 5 minutes after opening and they were all gone. Apparently there was only 2 and the other stores only got 2 as well. They won't be getting any more.

  • I waited from 7h45 to get one at Villawood, definitely low stock, only 2 per stores. I don't use it for gaming, for documenting, its great value for $250. Only con is the screen is not adjustable.

  • Lucky i was able to get one at Baulkham hills Aldi, they only had 2.
Installed, im satisfied but one thing is that freesync is not supported. False advertising.
