    • 3 vendor are selling powercolor not HIS .

      • +1

Right. I said 3 vendors are cheaper. Then I said one had the same brand at $33.81.

        • ok..sorry

      • Edit: Never mind.

      • -1

wonder what HIS stands for, thanks

  • Shipping is $12. $33 is not that cheap for this card anymore.

  • +1

Equivalent card cheaper elsewhere - http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=hd+5450+1gb…

    Shipping is $10/$12.

  • dont think its fair to compair other brands, although it can be had for 33.81 so 81 cent savings… not neg worthy, but not + worthy either…

    decent is all.

In the computer market it's very common to compare the price with other brands since they use same chipset and memory, this mostly happens with cheap and low power stuff like this one.

      But I agree it doesn't deserve +

      • Sometimes it isn't fair to compare brands because of different configurations and heatsinks and whatnot.

This, however, is a factory standard model. It's likely the HIS and Powercolor 1GB 5450 models come off of the same production line.

Rep also shows he didn't do a market research before posting this non-deal or maybe he's too smart to post an advertisement.

      • i disagree, would you pay the same for an asus card vs a powercolor card?

but yeah, different outputs, different configurations , different firmware?

        • +1

No, personally I would pay the same for Gigabyte / Asus (the +~$5 for this card), as I would only pay the same for HIS / Powercolor / {insert generic brand here}.

We're not talking a high-end card here where they will change the number of pipelines, overclock the CPU, add faster memory etc… to entice the consumer. We're talking a very low-end card that is really only useful for those who either want dual displays, HDMI output, video rendering (i.e. handle the rendering on a video card for 720p / 1080p content), so comparing Powercolor to HIS and to a lesser extent Gigabyte and Asus is valid.

  • Sorry to hijack this with a question. But I have a 1GB HD5450 but it has a displayport on it which I use with my 30" dell. But lately it is playing up a bit when I try to watch any videos it takes about 20 seconds for the video to start playing and it doesn't matter what resolution or file type. When this happens it says something on the monitor about power saving mode which I suspect is responsible for it. I have the latest version of CCC so wondering if this is a common issue with displayport.

    • Have you actually tried connecting your Dell via HDMI or DVI to see whether the problem occurs over those connection types?

  • MSY have it for $25, this isn't a deal at all

    • what r you talking about ? MSY $25 FOR 512 NOT 1GB.
PLease read first before you comment

    • That's the 512MB version. This is the 1GB version.

There isn't a significant performance difference, but there's a price difference.

  • These do the job ok for a media centre pc?

    • Fantastic for HTPC. No problem with FULL HD video. Around 19W power.

      • Cheers mate, might pick one up!

For $39, you could get this which seems a much faster card:

    • meh just cause its a later generation doesnt mean its faster…

look at the 5870 vs the 6870…

      • +1

In this case, it is better. Quite a lot better. See this Anandtech review.

jeees a very low end card…even my old ass 8600GT scores better at 512mb =/

    • +2

your card is bigger, louder, and uses much more power… so for a HTPC setup is actually much worse.

    • +1

Different market… Example: HP Microserver's people brought a few months back only have a slot for low-profile video cards. Your 8600GT won't fit in this machine and consume too much power. The Radeon 5450 (512MB or 1GB) will be perfectly adequate for playing HDMI content in this case.

I've already corrected this one further up. 512MB != 1GB.
