Wow thats a load of pollocks for $1.

    • I've never tried it, I'm assuming its bad if its discounted that much? or is it because it's from China? If that's so where are all these deals for 12 TB Hard Drives for $4!

Often used in place of cod, for fish and chip shops. More so in England, as far as I know.

I'd imagine it would hold up okay in curries but probably better fried or used in bakes and pies. Bargain price, anyway.

A lot of frozen fresh fish, sadly, is now packed in China. NZ-caught Hoki is another example of this. I'd imagine the big processors don't want/figure they cannot afford, to pay for labour in countries of origin.

Its from China, wouldn't go near it

    • Is that the reason behind it behind heavily discounted ? I know alot of products we have here in Australia would have come from China I have yet to see Coles discount all there China made products, whens that happening

    • But it's "Packed in China from imported and local ingredients", not sure what components are local vs imported

I'd imagine it's caught in the northern Pacific Ocean/Bering Sea and only filleted and packed in China, due to cheaper labour costs.

    • The problems with food from China have been in uncooked food.
Unless you plan on using these for sashimi, don't worry. (And they are not farmed.)

      • Sashimi with these ? username check out

  • Selected store? Wondering if there is online stock checker for Coles ?

I've been checking and no longer buying China made items if there's an alternative. Even if that alternative is being able to go without. Its a personal choice. I suspect there are others who feel the sane and coles might be quietly doing away with China made items where possible.

      Girlcott China!

Been doing that since pool berries
Also wary of NZ due to their labelling
      .

  • What was the use by date on them?

Lots at Coles Inglewood, WA. Crumbed Pollock too.

Prominently displayed in the corner freezer cabin where they normally have specials.

Fish is wild caught from Russia, processed in China. So I assume the same as Alaskan Pollock.

Tastes like cod (think fish fingers), but a more sustainable alternative.

  • Has some other stuff in them as well, read ingredients
