Update 6:45PM 10/06/20 - Woolworths has advised that budget allocation is now exhausted. Increase will end at 7:30PM AEST. Thank you.

    • I'm waiting for new budget.

  • Thanks TA. Would 7% be coming next time?

    • +6

      5.27%*
This is Woolworths WISH group we're talking about here lol.

      • +5

Even 5.7% would be very nice. 5.25% is still a deal.

    • As of 11:02am I'm still getting 5% off not 5.25% ?

  • +5

Though 0.25% is a small increase, it is the highest ongoing discount on market, thumb up

    • +5

      How is it ongoing?

      • Yeah not ongoing, will exist for a while

      • OP says it will go in a few hours so go in quick if interested.

    • Actually it is a 5% increase

      • actually it's a decrease in price

  • +1

How long does it take for these to be sent by email nowadays? I used to buy them a few years back but it would take an hour or so which wasn't ideal, I ended up buying from an employee portal which gives them instantly but in pre-determined amounts.

    • Last week it was 40 minutes between confirmation email and gift card email.

      • Just 7 minutes today.

    • +3

I usually get my egift card email almost immediately. Last purchase a few days ago was 3 minutes later to be more precise.

      • -1

2 hrs later still haven't got mine..

    • From my experience usually around 5-7mins. Not sure if today’s demand will impact that though.

      • OK received mine.
These GC need to be manually punch in??
        No barcode it seem…

        Coles ones are scannable

        • +1

That’s right. If paying at the counter you tell them you paying with e-gift for full amount or partial. Then you type the in store code into the eftpos terminal then the pin. I also recommend downloading the “Woolworths money” app as you can store your gift cards in there and track remaining balances.

          • @Slo20: Yeah did the last 10 digits,
but why can't they have an easy barcode like most places.

          • @gadgetguy: Saw that but still no barcode :)

            • @capslock janitor: Correct but one less step of typing the whole number into your phone, storing it somewhere or writing it on a piece of paper. The presentation of the number in the app also makes it very easy to type it in at the checkout.

I agree it would be great if the app presented a scannable barcode though. Hopefully at some point.

      • +1

Just FYI - today I received a gift card again in 4 minutes.

    • Often it is less than an hour if the credit card had been used for Wish card purchase previously

  • +52

I mean I’ll buy them because I buy them anyway at 5% but an extra 0.25% equates to $1.25 on a $500 gift card. Let’s keep this in perspective.

    • +11

That's a Turkish Delight when they're on special!

      • +1

Might just treat myself to a couple of Caramello Koalas this week then.

      • The Greeks won’t go for a Turkish Delight!

    • its good timing with the extra 10% online making it 15.25%

Still missed those old good bargain days where Woolworth online was giving crazy discounts.

  • +2

This is exciting as highest % off so for $500's save $26.25 instead of the normal $25 .
BigW sale just around the corner so thanks TA every cent counts :)

    • +6

That's an extra $1.25 of savings for a $500 gift card lol

      • +2

some people are cheap to excite

  • +35

So the extra 0.25% means you get an extra $1.25 over the usual 5% discount if you purchased a $500 gift card…don't spend it all at once…lol

How long did it take for you to negotiate that? Hope it wasn't long lol

    • +2

If it is leading to hundreds of suckers/bargain hunters jumping in excitement for 25 cents on a $100 purchase, it's probably been worth it for them.

  • -1

5.25% means, it has increased 0.25%! So 0.25% more than before and that means more discount! Thanks :)

    • +1

It’s increased by 5% or by 0.25 percentage points.

  • +8

dammit, just bought a Woolies gift card the other day. Could've got an extra red frog with this.

    • Buy another one.

      • Buying another won't help as he still missed out on the Red Frog from the other day!

  • +1

No more UK Ebay deals . Only place is TGG at 10% for a 3 mth wait when the deal is on and the hassle of playing with the Peagasus group to get them sent out lol .

  • +43

extra 25 cents on every $100.00 purchased …. THANKS HEAPS I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS DEAL SO AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • +10

pffft. an extra $0.25 on a $100 gift card.

  • +1

    +$1.25 gang ..

  • Slightly off topic but wondering if anyone has had this issue before.
About 2 years ago I received 3 invoices from my woolworths gift cards account for 3 $1000 gift card purchases, these were all purchased at once using my account but I didn't make these purchases. The gift cards themselves never come through so were obviously sent to a different email address. My concern straight away was that my account and credit card had been used for the purchase but upon checking my cards this wasn't the case.

I rang WWgiftcards and went through the issue, basically they were telling me the giftcards were purchased using a credit card in my name, I read out my credit cards and they told me it wasn't with any of those cards but assured me the card was in my name. So my thought straight away was that my identity had been stolen. So I have kept checking my credit score expecting it to register a new credit card and failure to pay notice however all this time on and nothing has ever come up. Any ideas what has occurred here?

On a side note it's great to see these days WWgiftcards don't allow the gift cards to be sent to a different email address other than the registered account and they sms a code through to the registered mobile to complete the purchase.

    • Someone with the same name as you, similar email address, but they made a typo and put in your email address by mistake.

  • +3

Not as good as the recent Shopback $2 off though, but when does this end?

    • +3

ends as soon as budget allocation is exhausted.

No definitive time so would be best to get in early. 100% agree $2 Cashback would be better.

    • Good call.

You'd need to spend almost $1000 to get an extra $2 with CashRewards vs was it a minimum $10 spend with ShopBack?

  • +2

    .25% off, absolute bargain.

  • Note that this promo can be pulled at any time without notice due to budget limitations.

Its the without notice part of that sentence which is causing me to stay away from this deal. Basically means that for an extra 0.25% discount theres a risk that I will end up with no discount as your budget was spent and the deal was pulled without notice

    • Op please confirm if by pulling this promo you are talking about the 0.25% and you will revert to the usual 5% after this is pulled.

      • +4

This is an automatic discount, not a cashback offer. When you check out from the WISH card portal, you will see the applicable discount in your cart, so you have nothing to worry about. The offer will revert to 5% and will be clearly shown as such on both Cashrewards and the WISH card portal when Woolies tell us to pull the promo based on sales figures (estimating some time today at this stage).

    • +1

Don't you buy the card at the discounted rate? Or do you have to hope you'll get the cash back?

I assume you won't be able to buy once allocation exhausted?

      • Just tested it out. You're right! Sorry op please disregard. Ive never purchased the giftcard using Cashrewards before and assumed it followed the cash back model.

        • +2

Yeah it says it in the OP. Not a cash back offer

          • @giventofly: Woops. Serves me right for not reading it properly.

            Cheers whaleoil!

          • @giventofly: Estimated eGift Card delivery

  • -1

Can we use the Wish Gift Card to buy Ebay Gift Card ?

    • Generally not.

  • +1

How do you redeem the gift cards at Woolies checkout? Do you need to key in the card number and PIN? Or is there a barcode you can scan.

    • +2

Select/ask for egiftcard payment, then it's a 10 digit number and 4 digit pin. I wish they had a barcode/app!

      • thanks!! bit of a hassle…wondering if it's worth the effort to save 5.25%..hmmm

        • +3

It's not too bad, takes maybe an extra 10 seconds compared to card.

The biggest problem I find is they sometimes select giftcard payment instead of egiftcard, which delays it a further 10 seconds.

        • +1

and you could pick up a virus from the keypad

          • @capslock: its not the touchscreen?

          • -1

@capslock: Give me the odds with starting today Australia's 0 community spread .
Borders should be open but some Premiers don't understand odds .

        • I'd be happy for you to deposit that money you could have saved directly into my bank account.

      • How do you use the spare, tiny amounts left in it tho?

        askingforafriend

        • +1

You can choose partial payment - so whatever's remaining on one, then the rest on another.

          • @f4te: partial payment asks you how much you want to use from the first gift card.
Problem is, what happens if you don't know how much is left on it?

  • I had all my woolies gift cards in the Woolworths money app. Since then the phone has broken. Any idea of an easy way to get them back?

    • Been broken for sometime.

      • Since March this year.

    • +1

You would've received emails with all the details?

      • Yes, except not sure about the ones my wife got from completing surveys.

  • +6
